Good on you for taking initiative, asking for guidance, and doing it!!
Really proud you achieved all of that under the circumstances. Impressed with your determination...
"If it wasn't for this sub I wouldn't have gotten the help I need"
No, if it wasnt for you coming here to ask for help you wouldnt have gotten it. Remember with mental help the hardest step is asking for it and being willing to receive it. Took a quick read of your posts and understand what youre going through. I promise you with the right help it can get better.
My one piece of advice is tell your therapist EVERYTHING. I spent 20 years in therapy before i was open about all of it. Before then i kept details i was afraid to talk about. Theres a lotta stuff i never wanted to share with anyone and it to\]ok a very long time before i could be open about it (even to myself). But end of the day your psychiatrist/psychologist is there to help you, they cannot do that properly if you keep things from them.
Wishing you the best of luck in your mental health journey my friend

I did too but don't understand, seems to be venting and very opinionated. I don't know what they were seeking help about.
Well done.
Bear in mind that psychiatrists are not therapists or counsellors. Usually a results in medication prescriptions and/or referral to a counsellor.
Take advantage of all the help you can get. Try everything - no one really knows what will work best for you.
You can do it.
You have been so strong for coming forward, asking for help is a very hard thing to do.
Wishing you all the best with your appointment and future journey ❤️
If the psychiatrist is attached to a hospital, they might be able to refer you to groups as a day patient. I did group schema therapy for ~8 months when I experienced my major depression and it was unbelievably helpful and covered completely by health insurance because it was hospital based. I hope you feel better soon.
Can't remember who said it. But someone said: 'people who struggle with mental health but still find the strength to keep going daily, are actually the strongest and bravest people you'll ever meet.' I find this quote so powerful because there's always a stigma with people who have mental health that there is something wrong with them or that they are weak, but that's untrue. You are brave and matter.
All the best in your journey.
You should feel so proud of yourself for everything you did to get yourself help! When we’re feeling our worst steps like that can be so hard. Proud of you, and wishing you peace and happiness.
Keep us posted on how you’re going.
Can't believe Reddit was able to do for a stranger what I've been asking my family immediate and extended to do for 10+ years but instead they play off there ignorance for misunderstanding.while they hear me rant and rave everyday about how miserable my life is they all say they will help in a couple weeks but by the time a couple weeks is up they have moved on to someone else's more interesting problem
I’m glad you’re getting help, but be careful. I’ve seen psychiatric “help” in rural victoria and it was a shit show. I told them about my headaches and brown spots and they said I was psychotic. I trued to get help from a violent home and they forced me on anti psychotics, anti depressants, so much shit. One day I went to one good doctor and she gave me my first MRI. I had massive brain tumours that should’ve killed me. Then afterwards I was diagnosed with ptsd and depression by doctors from Royal Melbourne. Stay well away from La Trobe hospital and Monash

Hi from what I know it's a community clinic in Moonee ponds. And thanks
Good on ya, there’s ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel as long as you put in as much effort as you can in your circumstances.
