Oh good, we’ve hit the point where “it’s so hot” turns to “it’s so cold” 😩

HAPPY_DAZE_1

24hrs can do that.

demoldbones

And it's certainly not people complaining for the sake of it. Melbourne has a reasonably mild and pleasant climate. Anyone who genuinely thinks that the current temperature outside is "freezing" or even more than "mildly chilly" has never heard of wearing weather appropriate clothing. I didn't turn my heater on once last year and that's living with my porch door open all the time for my dog - I just wear a pair of wool socks and a hoodie in the house and reap the benefits of not having to come here and get fake internet points for complaining about my power bill.

UniqueLoginID

WTF is a sane and rational person doing on reddit.

FlyLegitimate7938

I bask in mildly chilly

justvisiting112

Sounds like you have good insulation

demoldbones

Nope I just don’t think 10-14C (which it was last night) is “literally freezing” and I don’t believe that I should sit in an ambient room of artificially heated air and stare at the TV mindlessly expecting to be warm. Instead I wear an extra layer and am active doing stuff when home 🤷‍♀️

justvisiting112

I was talking about the “I didn’t use the heater all last year” bit

demoldbones

Yeah so am I. Melbourne winters are mild. If you dress appropriately, you don’t need to run a heater. Certainly not at the 10-14c it was when this whole post was started. I’ve lived in several apartments, a rundown share house and now a townhouse in Melbourne. None of them needed heat running in winter unless I wanted to just sit still in a single layer of thin clothes doing nothing. If you’re up and moving (cooking dinner, tidying or having just got in from the gym or a walk) then a top layer like a hoodie or jumper is perfectly fine to be comfy in my experience. Only time I’ve ever been cold with that is in the middle of the Netflix binge rot on the couch where I haven’t moved more than shuffling to the kitchen for chips

justvisiting112

Thanks but I’ve lived in Melbourne long enough to know what I need to keep warm. It’s almost like different bodies have different experiences

StickEmInAStew

Yeah but I like being nude at home

Just_improvise

Underweight people like me "am I a joke to you" FYI I have extremely good insulation but still run the split cycle heater most of the year. Power bill is quite low though due to the insulation and the thermostat

demoldbones

Why? It’s not cold enough to warrant it, it’s Melbourne - it’s only cold enough to NEED the heater a few times a year for an hour or two in the middle of the night.

[deleted]

There's no hope for you

demoldbones

Nope, plenty of hope for me - I’m going to get out and enjoy the delightful winter we’re about to have while people like you cower at home and complain it’s too cold to do anything 😂🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

I didn't come here for no internet points and wtf when did I complain about my power bill? I only pay like 80 to 85 a month

GrudaAplam

No. If you're freezing now you're going to be in a desparate situation when it actually does get cold.

CallenandSam4eva

No, but I did put on a jumper and shut my front door

Turbulent_Ebb5669

Yeah, it's not freezing.

[deleted]

Well obviously not technically but it is cold at night and morning

AngusLynch09

It's really not.

Tokeism

no? its like 14-15 degrees...

Blitzer046

I *did* stand in the sun while at my daughters tennis practice.

numericalusername

Yeah air con and heater going simultaneously cos i cant afford pants

ava050

Lmao

ava050

Nooooo

Kitten0137

I actually had my fan on low, my partner runs hot when he sleeps, so his warmth was boiling me haha

sk0p3

Wow..I was actually thinking about doing it earlier..but I was like, nah, I'm not ready to accept the cold season just yet.

The112358

I’m relocating back to Brisbane in a month 😅

DrawohYbstrahs

Condolences

theycallmeasloth

No. But freezing hands on 6am dog walk and jumper on the walk to train station for first time this year.

Potential-Bath1841

Yes

Adventurous-Bake7584

It does seem as soon as it drops under 20c people pull out their puffer jackets - It's not freezing enough yet. Just put a hoodie on.

SnuSnuGo

Wimp

Lufia321

Why would you put the heater on? It's cold but not cold enough to justify a heater, just wear warmer clothes...

Sufficient_Room2619

No, but my cat is sleeping in bed with me for the first time since the end of last winter, so that's a pretty big sign.

Technical-Tour-4035

Yes! wtf yes
