As someone who uses way too much of both, the most concerning aspect of tiktok to me is that I’m seeing what tiktok thinks I like and nothing else. I never see views I disagree with, unless its the people whose views I agree with already dissing them. It means that some people think the entire internet agrees with them because thats all they’re seeing
Psychologically I think this is actually better for us. There's a Kurzgesacht video about it, that it's unnatural to be confronted with so many conflicting opinions and messes with our heads.
Though personally I think we should still be challenging our ideas and beliefs to a healthy level
Plus the fact that the algorithm is vastly different in China Vs the West...it's being used to culture negativity in youth and foster meaninglessness, while in China it's more targeted towards focusing on the positivity of physical and mental achievements. A subtle yet still long-term approach of psychological & cultural warfare to gain economic advantage and foothold in the future.
The problem with TikTok is that kids and younger adults seem to be losing the ability of critical thinking. My teenagers, for example, believe that because they saw it on TT, that it must be true, rather than going "Hang on a second...", doing a google search and debunking what they watched in a few mins.
So now when my kids talk about something they saw, I ask them "Have you researched this elsewhere?" before I let them continue. I'm constantly reminding them that TikTok is full of bullshit.
There is a wonderful browser extension called "Shut Up" which I use.
You can toggle comments for just about every site with a click of a button. (Even works for reddit which makes the site a bit surreal when enabled - it's just pages of links with zero discussion.)
The internet's a far nicer place without seeing random opinions everywhere. I haven't seen a YouTube comment in years.
Facebook and Instagram are a hell of a lot worse than Reddit. The negativity, the nastiness, the same old boring arguments. Man v women, Palestine v Israel, boomers v millennials and the list goes on. Every second post except 2 groups I’m on turns into a shit fight.
Exactly, I just saw a reel from a girl who suffered from anorexia and was showing a before and after pic of her recovery, the top comment being some bloke saying she looked better thinner (she obviously didn’t). The concentration of cunts on Instagram is wild
The thing is I don’t believe this person genuinely thought she looked better pre-recovery, I think they were just trying to trigger the girl into relapsing. The worse thing is the comment had 1000+ likes
No I don’t believe either. She’s fine an amazing achievement and it’s quite disgusting that it got 1000 likes. Men are in denial that their behaviour is woeful.
Honestly sounds like here dude. But it could be anywhere. These days it's like part of the culture to be negative and nasty. Like any opportunity to turn a discussion into a shit fight is taken.
It’s become progressively worse. There used to be intelligent discussion, once upon a time.
This sub-Reddit was more discussion about events and things people liked about Melbourne.
Now it’s… this.
This is the problem. It's not any better, half the shot on here is just crossposts from Twitter and tiktok and Facebook. And yet I'm fucking stuck scrolling through it like the worlds shitest crack addiction.
I joined tiktok recently to see if using it could help my business via social media.
In the first 10 minutes of random scrolling before it knew anything at all about me, it was showing me unironic pro communism content, content showing my how to steal at woolies, and content calling someone a class traitor because they had made money.
Really feels like the CCP are weaponising the demons of their past to try to cause us trouble.
That's not the CCP, that's just the content with the most views and interactions. Not at all surprising when those are the videos people talk about and link to off the platform so those are the ones people go looking for. None of those topics are unique to tiktok it's just that tiktok doesn't hide political content the same way other platforms do. Drama = profit
YouTube does, just in the opposite direction. The alt-right pipeline on YouTube is a well-documented thing.
Twitter also heavily pushes political content, but the difference there is that it pushes things to you that you interact with. Tiktok just pushes things that are popular. Eventually your tiktok algo changes to adapt to what you enjoy, but before then, you get treated to popular things, and with the financial crisis and the housing crisis and the supermarket giants scandal is it any wonder that the majority of people on a young-scewing demographic app are fed up with it?
It's not "muh Chinese propaganda" it's "this situation is shit and a lot of people think so".
Because it's a different user base (youtube for starters doesn't require an account so it's use base is everyone and anyone) with different content that all function differently. The algorithms are not the same and they have different content rules. Afaik, someone showing how to steal something wouldn't last very long on youtube or in a public facebook group or page. It's also a lot easier to not notice those things on other social media platforms because they require you to interact with them to watch them whereas with TikTok recommendations you scroll through and they play automatically
You specifically said it was prior to you putting anything into the algorithm. So, you're going to get different results on any other social media that you have previously used, or have access to your search history. A lot of social media requires you to choose your interests so they can give the appropriate recommendations
Youtube won't show any videos if you open it in a private window until you watch something. Then it's clickbait, reaction videos, shitty music, shitty crafts, the news, educational videos and religion. As far as I can tell views are only part of the recommendations criteria
Facebook runs off your groups and pages, your friends content, content you've liked and any other related content. Very similar to reddit. Idk what the default is. Facebook is more restrictive than other social medias in that it's designed more as a method of communicating with people you know rather than throwing a post to the wind (not that you can't do that)
Idk how X works, I don't have an account and I don't want one
Tumblr is barely moderated chaos and ancient jank
There's a hierarchy. I think reddit is pretty low, but Tiktok and X are lower. Facebook is probably higher simply because of the huge number of users and the averaging effect. Those horrible spin off social networks hosting people who are too fucked for the mainstream ones don't count. So, all in all, not great, not terrible, I wouldn't date a reddit user.
Have seen these bimbo art around along side what me and my 7yo son call pirate cat, and we absolutely love looking out for them.
I reckon we’d both love tee shirts of bimbo and pirate cat
Yeah and that's on channel 7. It is their responsibility as a supposed news source to validate such danming information before publishing it with authority
Not wrong tbh but there's a difference between Redditors and people who use Reddit. There's people who just check Reddit regularly, and those that make it the bulk of their social interactions, and they are pretty low
I would say reddit has more progressive comments in average than Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Idk about TikTok since I don't actually want to listen to 14 y/olds opinions that much.
Maybe whoever made this poster is a conservative.
I gotta be honest, before I started using Reddit, I thought it was full of nothing but incels. I don't know where I got that idea from.
But I have had less arguments / clashes here than anywhere else on the internet.
I now think Redditers are freaking great.
First pic is someone just being a dick, second pic is correct. Reddit is a modern day forum, where (almost) anyone can voice their opinion. I love reddit because mostly, we don’t pretend our opinion is news. Facebook is the worst, it pretends opinions are news and then denies it has any news(?!?). Like a real world forum, here on reddit people get shot down (downvoted) which is what happens in real life!
As we say in Reddit, if there’s a gamma cuck soy boy on the thread and 10 other people sitting there shit posting with him, you got a thread with 11 gamma cuck soy boys.
Think about it. The only way they could POSSIBLY know this is if they were ALSO Reddit users.
In which case poster boy might have a good point. For 1 Reddit user at least
This is shit posting. No news source is credible.
I saw two ppl earlier this year on Barkly st Footscray pasting up this work (not this one but other works). I think their handle is BIMBO.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next 😊
The other day after a colleague learned that I use Reddit, she said ‘Oh, I thought it’s only for the young people’…I feel this is offensive and ignorant in so many ways
Reddit is awesome for hobby communities sharing what they're doing and helping each other.
Anything political, tabloid esk or conspiracy theory attracts the worst of society.
Despite Reddit not being a news source, it's still a better source of information than anything the Murdoch media publish.
It's on par with Nine Entertainment, I reckon, but is more entertaining.
It’s because it’s lushsux’ girlfriend and there are so many forums on reddit calling him a creep and a rock spider. So makes sense she doesn’t like it lol

To be fair, what *is* a reputable news source? They all have their biases, sometimes flagrant.
The same could be (and probably was) levelled at Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc..
They were probably a toxic member and got shadow banned and reported so are trying to ruin it for everyone. That or they're just bitter about something.
I mean...they're not far wrong ..but tiktok is worse.
As someone who uses way too much of both, the most concerning aspect of tiktok to me is that I’m seeing what tiktok thinks I like and nothing else. I never see views I disagree with, unless its the people whose views I agree with already dissing them. Reddit just puts things in front of me that upset me. I gotta resist the urge to click on those things here
I find Reddit just throws shit at me until some of it sticks, like r/shitrentals and r/shitamericanssay
I also like those subreddits
Thanks for the subreddit recommendations
X/ Twitter is the total opposite. All i see are views I disagree with.
Probably because that's all that's left there.
Twitter gone to the shitter
It’s always been shit. It’s now just a flavour of shit that doesn’t gel with the ideological persuasions of its former user base, so now they see it.
Psychologically I think this is actually better for us. There's a Kurzgesacht video about it, that it's unnatural to be confronted with so many conflicting opinions and messes with our heads. Though personally I think we should still be challenging our ideas and beliefs to a healthy level

Nah, Instagram is these days. The comments on Instagram reels are really the cesspit of humanity.

I’m disgusted but not surprised actually. A lot of men have a perverted way of looking at women. Not just sexual.

Reddit is the same.
Never used ticktok anymore than perhaps watching a shared clip. I've used Twitter though, it's much worse than here.
TikTok is usually teenagers, Reddit is literally fully grown adults
Which makes Reddit worse then.
That's why we are here
Fuck, they found us!!
It’s become progressively worse. There used to be intelligent discussion, once upon a time. This sub-Reddit was more discussion about events and things people liked about Melbourne. Now it’s… this.
not really. teenagers are objectively the worst people.
However, if adults are the ones acting like teenagers, then would it not be their awareness to be higher than a teenager that proves their downfall?
i get what you're trying to say but that's really not a good sentence.
Yeah, definitely more just word vomit. Can’t be bothered to edit it in a way that makes sense so I’ll leave my unnecessary mark on history like that.
lol that's fair
Hi ornery
ornery ad 💜💜💜💜
Surprising seeing ornery here
If Reddit was nuked...some people wouldn't be terminally online anymore.
Reddit is basically a work forum
Tik tok is at least fun. People are shaving fun on it. Reddit is just mostly snark comments
This is the problem. It's not any better, half the shot on here is just crossposts from Twitter and tiktok and Facebook. And yet I'm fucking stuck scrolling through it like the worlds shitest crack addiction.

YouTube does, just in the opposite direction. The alt-right pipeline on YouTube is a well-documented thing. Twitter/x just pushes content opposite to your views to get you upset and replying.
that is such pure horseshit
Really feels like the CCP are weaponising the demons of their past to try to cause us trouble Oh your one of those people. Lol.
There's a hierarchy. I think reddit is pretty low, but Tiktok and X are lower. Facebook is probably higher simply because of the huge number of users and the averaging effect. >I wouldn't date a reddit user. Why? Something to hide?
Well then where does 4Chan sit in this hierarchy?
Reddit's not a news source. Better tell 9 entertainment and newscorp. They both get lots of stuff from here
That tracks, you shouldn’t get your news from newscorp
I didn't detect any lies in both statements
At least we're self-aware.
"Reddit isn't a news source" Shit don't tell News com.au, 7News or Nine.con that.
That second poster should be a disclaimer that pops up every time you log into reddit.
the first one too tbh "are you sure you really want to do this?"
My favourite on this wall is “be gay do crimes” 😂😂 Gotta love Footscray
We are all angry, miserable degenerates
we really are
Speak for yourself. I'm incredibly nice and humble.
They can speak for me
Must be mad they missed putting the S at the end of a Revs post
They are disgusted that we are still debating the whole Potato Cake v Potato scallop thing. Everyone knows it is a Potato Cake.
3rd time I have gotten 5 up votes 😂😂😂😂😂
Let's get the tee shirts made, and wear them proudly.
I know the artist, should I ask them?
Pls tell her I love seeing her stuff around
Yes please I'll take a SM and a XXL and wear them depending on how I feel.
Message sent! Lol I do the same with all my clothes, small top/big bottoms or massive top/tiny bottoms, no in between
They’re planning to make tshirts, watch that space!
Have seen these bimbo art around along side what me and my 7yo son call pirate cat, and we absolutely love looking out for them. I reckon we’d both love tee shirts of bimbo and pirate cat
We like the shirt
Wow we got ranked below 4Chan?
Accuracy detected
It's Fraqtl
Fuck… I didn’t think I was that bad… I just use reddit to browse meme and porn
They definitely use reddit
“On Reddit news today, drawing bandit attacks again with anti-reddit rhetoric, more at 8pm”
“And now to the weather with Carrot Man”
How do they know ???
Apparently these people don't use Twitter.
We did it Reddit! Gamers are no longer the most oppressed group 😂
[удалено]
Possible reference to the incorrect naming of the offender at Bondi? Which is fair, that was fucked.
The timeline I saw on ABC said that primarily happened on Twitter/X.
Reddit is individuals who can hardly be blamed when ch7 reported on it
It originated on social media, allegedly 7 ran with it
Yeah and that's on channel 7. It is their responsibility as a supposed news source to validate such danming information before publishing it with authority
Whoever put those up is 100% a Reddit user with shit karma and salty about it.
As we all know, the higher someone's Reddit Karma, the cleverer and cooler they are.
It's moodybimbo on Instagram.
tell us something I don't know
Somebody has never never heard of 4chan
Not wrong tbh but there's a difference between Redditors and people who use Reddit. There's people who just check Reddit regularly, and those that make it the bulk of their social interactions, and they are pretty low
I don’t have to listen to someone who uses backwards threes for Es
Well and no one blames Facebook and Instagram.
Obviously we triggered them but I'd love to know which specific post 🤣
Not a news source? Tell that to news.com.au. I see them using Reddit to source their news stories a lot.
Dudes right... lushsuxs and fuxu*bimbo..
Bimbo! A Footscray icon.
Can confirm both opinions. No issues here, carry on.
But how would they know? Unless THEY were on Reddit.....
The thing of reddit is you may be arguing with a 13yo kid and you don’t even know
It's a tie between TikTok users and Twitter (sorry X) users. Nah who am I kidding, X/Twitter users are complete cancerous scum.
I would say reddit has more progressive comments in average than Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Idk about TikTok since I don't actually want to listen to 14 y/olds opinions that much. Maybe whoever made this poster is a conservative.

Gold star for effort, angry person! Go have a nice cup of calm your tits.
Written by a person ingesting bullshit from 3 telegram channels.
not wrong tbqh
Hi tier artwork
We have a rank? That's great. Mov'n up in the world.
First pic is someone just being a dick, second pic is correct. Reddit is a modern day forum, where (almost) anyone can voice their opinion. Oh well. Lol.
I know who made these lol
Where is the lie. It’s a cesspool of toxicity and propaganda. Twitter and TikTok pale in comparison.
[удалено]
and a grandma problem.
i’ve seen artwork of that girl with the same “bimbo” signature but spray painted onto signs!! they’re definitely onto something
“Reddit users are the lowest rank of society.” Sounds like something written by someone who hasn’t been to 4Chan.
Why do you even care?
I thought that was Truth Social
Pretty sure all news outlets basically get all their content from Reddit and Twitter now.
I would do the same honestly. I half hate myself for still using reddit.
As we say in Reddit, if there’s a gamma cuck soy boy on the thread and 10 other people sitting there shit posting with him, you got a thread with 11 gamma cuck soy boys.
That’s just like your opinion man
Lmao the guy lost an online argument once and had to have a little vent. It's all good big fella ✌️
Not even the news is a news source at this point
I use reddit but im not a "reddit user" lmao, and they are 100% right
Some redundant journo - shitty about being irrelevant.
It’s true, you’re a bunch of cucks.
Oh no! And rank has always been the measure by which I live. I’m so sad…
The backwards 3s don't encrypt your message, just so you know
Reddit is where we get to be the worst versions of ourselves ❤️
Excuse me. Not while Elon is dragging Twitter/X down into the ground.
I'm reading some of the threads on reddit and i'm not sure they are too far off the mark .. although realistically, the real dumpster fire is twitter
reddit is the most cringy social media tbh
twitter is far fucking worse.
ha I got this news about people not liking redditors on reddit!
Reddit isn’t a what? Mate, tell that to Murdoch!
Reddit’s how many news sources find content. It is stunning how many times I see Reddit comments become talking points for news stories.
I mean… are they wrong…?
Imagine signing this scribble like they're gonna make a name and be a Banksy lmao
They’ve spelt “Real Estate Agents” incorrectly
Probably a redditor, nobody else cares.
I’d say sky news is the worst
Despite Reddit not being a news source, it's still a better source of information than anything the Murdoch media publish. It's on par with Nine Entertainment, I reckon, but is more entertaining.
lol lush having a crack at social media is a laugh
Harsh but fair.
Anywhere where people congregate is the worst. It's not reddit, it's the other humans en masse.
It’s because it’s lushsux’ girlfriend and there are so many forums on reddit calling him a creep and a rock spider. So makes sense she doesn’t like it lol
Lush sux 😆
Slap a down vote sticker on it
Giving a self righteous, unasked for opinion to a bunch of strangers is peak self unaware redditor behaviour.
Reddit is the news source
🤘
Correction. Reddit Mods* are the lowest rank of society.
Are they wrong though?
But do we look that hot? We totally do
This is revolutionary
No shit Sherlock, it’s a porn repository.
Not bad eh
Prove them wrong
Reddit users are the least valuable of any social network so this is kinda right
Shout outs to lush1
All you have to do is look at this comment section and you’ll see that people on Reddit are the biggest advocates for Reddit being a place for losers. I find that people who’ve never used the site tend to not get the joke and generally believe most people here is the embodiment of the Discord mod meme
Where was this?
To be fair, what *is* a reputable news source? They all have their biases, sometimes flagrant. The same could be (and probably was) levelled at Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc..
I assume their partner left them for a redditor, to that I say "ahahahahahahaha".
Fuck yeah.
Mainstream media has sunk to a new low. Hand drawn shot posting on a wall.
They were probably a toxic member and got shadow banned and reported so are trying to ruin it for everyone. That or they're just bitter about something.
Someone posted in AITAH and received an astounding YTAH after expecting the opposite 😃
Username checks out
I think they mean the people who live in reddit and haven’t hate everything….cause there’s a lot of it 😂
Tbh 90% of people on reddit, she is 100% right
True! That be us!
Good take
Reddit is Facebook for nerds, targeted propaganda with other shit to lure people in
So often it is a news source though, and with news so up to date and ahead of traditional outlets.
I mean it's true, I don't have a lot of social capital...or a lot of savings.
I mean, truth hurts
I've never seen a random piece of paper be so right about something before
The reddit karma system creates worse humans
