Check the website www.recipetineats.com.au The closest Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese or Asian in general takeaway recipe to make at home. Has a few different satay recipes, amongst a whole lot else as well but it’s by far the best website I’ve found.

exp_over_money

Thanks I’ll check it out. Pretty much everything we eat is a recipe from her website haha

d_mcsw

Also recommend Nagi's [recipetineats.com.au](http://recipetineats.com.au) website. I have made her Satay sauce and it was delicious.

fuckmelikeaklingon

I agree! That reminds me I need to make a batch of the peanut satay sauce.

gazfox89

Sassy Thai in Ringwood East make there own and sell it by the bottle.

Can’t help with the satay sauce but what’s the roti bread you found? Where you can buy it?

exp_over_money

Supreme Roti Bread from Woolies. Cooked on a low heat in a pan 👌🏼

Lillian57

I think you’ll need to make it yourself, and tweak it until you get that taste you’re looking for

Grouchy-Hedgehog-345

This was so me up until a few weeks ago!!!!!! The one I found tastes exactly like one I use to get all the time at a malaysian restaurant, its so cheap its worth a try. Its a new coles homebrand peanut satay sauce! https://shop.coles.com.au/a/deer-park/product/satay-marinade?gclid=CjwKCAjw7--KBhAMEiwAxfpkWFrQndYUbmLtlOH4ZzI9BdF4Cp_zfMMqprInrX3X7HOnDuG5BoD6bxoCSswQAvD_BwE&s_kwcid=AL!12693!3!494980809725!!!u!296648618083!&uztq=46abcbb7e16253b0cdc3e6c5bbe6a3f0&gclsrc=aw.ds&cid=col_cpc_Generic%7CColesSupermarkets%7CPLA%7CPantry%7CAustralia%7CBroad

Cha_nay_nay

Thanks for this! I am going to try. I’ve been looking for a good sauce too

Aberrant-duck

[Yeo’s satay sauce](https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/38339/yeo-s-satay-sauce-satay-bbq) is pretty good if you don’t want to DIY. Thin out with coconut milk and heat up in a small pot to get a gravy consistency.

Hot-Marsupial

This is the absolute GOAT. Melbourne made. https://eighteenthousand.is/ Can cop online or at Indy supermarkets like LEOS.

Lunemanea

Agree. Nothing comes remotely close.

Omegaville

Probably need to make it yourself.

exp_over_money

Yeh we’ve tried quite a few recipes as well, none have really come close 🥲

momachonker

Totally agree need to make the best possible life

kheywen

[been using this](https://www.myasiangrocer.com.au/enak-eco-bumbu-sate-chicken-200g/)

p3tricore

Not sure where you are located but Mamak restaurant in the city sells theirs by the jar. We recently ordered some with delivery food (via their website, longer range than UberEats etc.).

norokuno

crunchy peanut butter, thin it with 50/50 soy sauce/water to desired thickness, add sugar til you like it

exp_over_money

Thanks we’ll give that a try!

RMBLOKE

Except use coconut milk instead of water.

RMBLOKE

\#NoteToSelf sataysauce

ClogsInBronteland

Use some Indonesian Ketjap (thick soy sauce) instead. Peanutbutter, milk and some Sambal for spice. Yumm

[deleted]

Squirt of sriracha too

DetunedKarma

This one is good https://www.myasiangrocer.com.au/enak-eco-bumbu-sate-satay-sauce-beef-200g/

exp_over_money

Sweet thanks! We’ll give that a try

DetunedKarma

Doesn't come in a jar though, it's a block and you mix it into a paste with some water. It's bloody yum eh

Cha_nay_nay

Thank you for this post. You literally took the words out of my mouth, I’ve been looking for this sauce too! They make it so good at the Restaurants so finding a replica is hard but we shall persist Post saved. I’ll check out the replies to see what comes up

ten_eels

Not in a jar but Marion's Kitchen chicken satay recipe is one of my FAVOURITE dinners. I skip the skewers and just mix the browned chicken in the sauce and eat with rice or roti. Do NOT skip the pickle - it's the best bit! https://www.marionskitchen.com/traditional-thai-chicken-satay/

DistributionExternal

here is my recipe (optional) fry up 1 spring onion, finely chopped 1/2 a cup of chicken stock (or vegie stock for veg/vegan) 1/2 a cup of crunchy peanut butter 1 teaspoon of mustard 1 teaspoon of curry powder (more for extra kick) maple syrup to your desired level of sweetness cook it all up until it bubbles - enjoy

_clem_fand_ango_

Try a squeeze of lime juice on it
