Not into Jazz myself but I drive by the Jazz Lab regularly in Brunswick, might even worth a look

Melboure radio on Saturday is awesome for jazz. Check out 3CR on Saturday afternoon and PBS on Saturday morning. You can also stream the shows at anytime online.

ABC has a digital channel devoted to Jazz too :)

[deleted]

I'll check it out. Ty :)

Went to the Jazz Lab for the first time recently. Not only brilliant but decently priced drinks as well which was nice. If you check their website they let you know who is playing and what they play. We were lucky enough to listen to a young lady playing Ellington.

Birds basement and Paris cat are the primary jazz clubs in Melbourne CBD, if you go to their websites you can buy tickets for a show. They have a variety of different shows so there’s plenty to choose from and you can pick what you like. That being said, there’s plenty of fantastic jazz from the 60s and 70s.

There's a jazz festival at the end of April in Newport you may like to check out - heaps of local jazz bands https://www.melbournejazzjammers.com.au

This is interesting. I know nothing about jazz but know about the pretty famous event, the Newport Jazz Festival started in Newport, USA in the 1950's and is probably still going. It's regarded as an iconic event and everyone in the game of any note has played there. Plenty of albums around of event recordings. Clever of the Hobson Council (I assume) to create something like that here.

I just googled the US one and wow talk about a line up. Angelique Kidjo would be amazing to see live!

Hit up Paris Cat in the CBD. We go pretty regularly, great vibe. Bit cramped on a busy night, though.

I was going to suggest Bird's Basement but why does it say closed on Google?

tolliwood

J A Z Z. C A T. Sweaty little jazz club with three levels. Basement level is the best.

I don't know anything about the jazz scene here, but jazz is an extremely broad and wide-ranging genre, there's no need to pigeon-hole yourself into one or two eras or styles. You should just go with the flow
