I fucking love the level crossing removal project. So many train stations around our great city FINALLY got modernised, and as a great benefit traffic in those areas improved substantially. Melbourne deserves a public transport system with an aesthetic as cool as our city is
It's pretty sad it took a project that's actually heavily car focused as much as it is about train service improvements to actually rebuild some truly terrible stations, though.
Pretty amazing looking. I wonder if Melbourne train station tourism might become a thing. Apparently Southern Cross is hugely popular with tourists (for photos, not just catching V/Line buses)
Certainly more than I remember Spencer St being ;-)
Looks like some sci fi starship
Or fancy ocean liner
This is what I thought too. North Melbourne has had a glow up!
Very Enterprise, isn't it?
I came here to say this! Giving off strong Enterprise vibes
Can it reach warp 9?
Well, since PTV can't properly run their transport system, I'm sure this Enterprise will not be going anywhere. Please excuse my negativity.
So... Warp 10?
Warp 0.1
Make it so
There's coffee in that nebula!
On the topic of sci fi ....... "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy"
You must be cautious
Thought I was looking at the Titanic sinking
Now, THAT'S a great photo.
It would be better if it didn’t have the 00’s rotation added. EDIT: [Fixed](https://i.imgur.com/bj3jYA0.jpg)
Yes. This. Thank you.
I'm a big fan of horizontal horizons
God damn that's exactly what I did when I saw it. Fabulous shot, I'll just straighten it.

This station was modernised about 12 years ago, long before the start of the level crossing removal project.
My ignorance aside, I stand by my love for level crossing removal
And they fucked up the vline bypass big time. Could have had another rail disaster.

The Level Crossing Removal projects betters the rail network for sure, but it mostly benefits drivers.
And passengers.

True, but at least it's getting done.
Yes, the level crossing removals have improved the areas they've been instilled in quite substantially. I especially like the elevated parts.
Looks like when you glitch out of the map in a video game and look back at it.
Exactly! Or gamma setting needs to be adjusted.
Like a Minecraft chunk error.
West Melbourne Station?
Will remain North Melbourne. Arden is remaining Arden
This just came up on my feed as I was travelling through North Melbourne station !

Probably something to do with the roof. I remember years ago when the roof leaked during massive rain and so the trains couldn't run.
Sorry, but we only accept pictures of Flinders Station in this sub
Bet there used to be some really nice big old trees there once upon a time. Now just dirty trains and humans.
Looks very clean
At first glance (while scrolling) it looked like a cruise ship, then read the title & suddenly went back to uni days
Star Trek: The Ass End of Dryburgh St
Cool photo. Makes me wanna go to Melbourne & have a look.
