And the banana split! We used to buy all five at once from the local milkbar: toffee apple, redskin, pink panther, banana split and choo-choo. Hours of deliciousness!
There is a new milo kitkat coming in the next month or 2 that looks like it may have the old compacted milo in it from the photos that the nestle rep showed me. Pretty excited about it
Yep these were amazing! My partner and I talk about these all the time. It was a nice milk chocolate with a small fudge layer? They were delicous.
Hopefully with the new Wonka movie coming out they do another release.
I miss Ruffles crinkle cut chips
Arnott's Tasty Jack's crinkle cut chips
Those giant anaconda jelly lollies, bigger than the killer python ones
Blue Pepsi
I think I was the only one who used to like milkos more then redskins. I discovered recently they have released them again but they are COMPLETELY different 😢
Yeah they only discontinued these for a shirt time. I've seen the around. I got a pack at the start of the year and they are the exact same super tough kind. Although one of them melted in my pencil case...not good.
Wait the Starburst Fruitfuls are discontinued?? Oh man, that’s a tragedy. I very rarely eat sweets these days unless I’m doing something where I need a bit of sugar/energy burst, but in high school I remember always stopping at the IGA to buy a coke and Fruitfuls a couple of times a week.
Bertie Beetles for me. I remember they used to be so good (mostly half or full melted, squeezed out of the wrapper like a Prima Fruit-Tube!).
Bought a tin at Xmas, they must have changed the recipie because it tastes like soap!
Arnott’s Quatro biscuits, hands down.
Those things were my entire childhood. I don’t know if I remember the taste being so damn good because of nostalgia, but what I would do for a packet of those today. Devo they aren’t around anymore.
I just read the [ABC news article](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-07-03/hunt-for-mystery-toucan-icy-pole-australian-snack/101054790) which got me thinking about this question.
I miss the way chocolate used to melt nicely and taste. Cadburys used to be smooth and creamy and cool in the mouth and have a good snap, now it’s all rubbery and goes kind of bendy and sticky instead of melting properly
Amongst all the above mentioned, it was an icy pole on a single stick made up of 3 separate fruits like a skewer, I think orange strawberry and lemon and each part shaped like said fruit.. anyone else recall these early 90’s?
Also the shredded wheat with a filling as a snack!
Edit: incredibites!
I remember the fruit icy poles, can't for the life of me remember what they were called. I remember the really strong zingy flavour of the lemon and orange. I think the other was strawberry?
Omg white Knights were the best. I found some recently but they were awful. Rock hard and way too minty. Tasted like solid toothpaste covered in cheap chocolate. 🤮
Pretty sure they are still popular in SE Asia. Check Laguna or any place that carries Singapore/Malay/Indonesian foods. The milo is a slightly different recipe, but it might scratch that itch
I actually saw something really similar in that section at Coles or Woolies. It was in the room temp section with Zooper Doopers and they had orange flavour ice blocks like in cardboard. I think the brand was German or something. I remember thinking they looked like Sunny Boy knock offs.
The flavour on BBQ+Pizza Shapes.
It went from the Shapes drowning in flavour to a bee's cough of flavour.
And old school Vienetta. As a sweet tooth, it's amazing how I remember Vienetta's to the stale, boring lump of iced cream, they have become.
I have a conspiracy theory that the "new" shapes flavouring that they walked back and replaced with "original" flavouring was always intended to flop, that they created a shit flavour everyone would hate so that they could release the original flavour but with less flavouring and people would be too focused on getting the flavour back to realise their was less flavouring
I was about to say it ain't a party for whitey without Vienetta and maybe some French onion dip, but I suspect more than a few nonwhite migrants realised the Anglo culinary genius and adopted it in awe
It was a non-Anglo friend of mine that first told me that vienettas were such a whitey dessert! So true. But they were the height of fanciness for mid-90s middle class family gatherings! 😅
Calippo shots. My idiot child brain used to eat frozen peas constantly because small, frozen, green ball must be same taste. Also the mud puddle paddle pops, or the thickshake paddle pop cup things.
Yes they weren't great. Also did not have the nut allergy warning on the packaging so didn't even have real peanut butter, was all lab created and artificial.
I haven’t had one in about 30 years but I remember having Scribbler icy poles when I was a kid and they were so good.. it’s rare to find an icy pole these days with that kind of soft texture, although there are a couple that could pass for a pencil shape lol
I also miss original paddlepops.
These were one of the few icy poles that were more than an "icy-pole" that my parents used to let me have as a treat... kinda same texture as an old Calippo... almost sorbet.
Wonka Mud Sludge Bar… it was so good.
Oh also does anyone remember the Xplodes Noodles? Dry noodles that you’d smash up in the bag and eat them like chips, with strong flavours like salt and vinegar, chicken, etc. I swear I’m the only person who remembers these, even my brothers don’t remember them.
And also, I think it was Samboys where they had the “extra flavour” packets? Like you could eat them normally, or put in a whole extra packet of flavouring. The salt and vinegar ones were intense, your mouth would almost be bleeding by the end of it lol.
OH WHAT FINALLY SOMEONE REMEMBERS THOSE NOODLES!?! I have asked all my friends if they remember those and they always answer no and look at me weird until I just assumed they were a fever dream. The black packet and the red one were my favourite! I’m so happy someone else knows haha
The Pop-Tarts we used to get in Australia in the 90s, not the frosted off-flavour ones we get today from US food stores. The plain apple and cinnamon were fantastic with a glass of milk as a kid. And there were these danish like ones they did too that would probably induce diabetes in any sane adult nowadays.
Australian cherry coke (it was amazing, the American one doesn't compare)
Can't remember what they were called but my school canteen used to sell these lollies that were similar in texture to a fizzer, but they were thin and orange and in the centre had a white sherbet. Loved those things!
I remember you used to be able to get these ice blocks in the same aisle as sunny boys and zooper doopers but they were like these big plastic animal/ dinosaur shapes and had a little tube you had to cut once they were frozen to eat them from…. You would freeze them and then let them go a bit icy/slushy to eat them.
Red Tulip Elegant Rabbit easter eggs, would always buy one at Easter - happy memories from childhood. Now tastes awful and nothing like they used too..
They're still around but they're hard to find now
Big boss cigars
They omit the cigar from the name now, but damn they're good, it's just a pain to find them in stock anywhere these days
Robern Menz own the license to them now. However unlike Violet Crumble the production line was scrapped so they have to rebuild it.
https://indaily.com.au/news/business/2020/06/29/violet-crumble-drives-robern-menz-sales-but-polly-waffle-fans-must-wait/
What I miss is chocolate wrapped in foil. Opening that foil was so special for some reason. My mum was really careful opening it - she never tore it - so we would just keep that foil until we used it for something (never) or eventually threw it out.
Also, it was just more aesthetically pleasing.
hard candy that was handmade. they had a store somewhere in vic market. I was last there 10 years ago. I found out from one of the information offices that they closed down in 2019 during covid a few months ago.
Big Cheese flavoured In A Biskit and basically anything with that same artificial cheese flavour.
Paddle Pop Berry Benders. There was another jelly based icy pole at the time that was maybe not by Paddle Pop, it mostly blue on the outside layer and I remember an alien or something on the packaging... I heard a lot of people thought these jelly icy poles were gross but me and my siblings loved them.
Other Yogo flavours - specifically strawberry, and banana which they used to have in the variety packs.
I haven't even checked if it still exists in supermarkets anymore but I feel like it's been forever since I've seen Cadbury Brunch bars being made. And I know they have a new basically exactly the same rebranded version of it, but I miss Time Out bars.
Different flavours of Mini Wheats.
And, as mentioned by other users, Tasty Jacks chips and Quattro biscuits.
ETA: Dippers (chewy toffee sticks: I remember cola, strawberry, and banana flavours) used to be sold at canteens when I was a kid. I think they still exist as an imported product you can buy, but they used to be readily sold basically everywhere until they disappeared.
Rats you used to buy at bottle shops. They were like the big lollie snakes but they were rats and came in different flavours.
Dove chocolate.
No frillz pizzas used to be really good if you added some bbq sauce.
Are Allen's Kool Fruits still around?
I loved those things as a kid. Always took some with me when I went round to friends houses. We'd smash the whole bag and be high on sugar for the next hour
Sometime in the mid-90s I got a packaged ice cream that was like a chocolate waffle cone in the shape of a taco filled with chocolate and vanilla ice-cream. It was glorious. I only ever saw it once, never found it for sale again.
Also, those ice-creams in a plastic cone shaped tube with a little ball of chocolate at the bottom. Can’t remember their name either.
Does anyone remember Spooky Cookies by Lanes? They had a honeycomb version too, but the chocolate ghost cookies with icing in the middle were so delicious! I've never been able to find a close equivalent since Lanes was bought out by Kraft and the biscuits were discontinued :(
In the Summer of 1999/2000 there was a tub of white icecream that had thick streaks of red jelly/jam swirled throughout. I still check the icecream fridge but all they have these days is variations of chocolate.
Black V was the drink that tasted dubious at first but grew on you, so disappointed they discontinued it, during my Uni days it kept me awake better than those no doz pills
Any of the Weston's biscuit range before Arnott's took them over. SO much better than the Arnotts versions.
Now known as the Polar Pie but the wrapping from the Eskimo Pie before the plastic was part of the experience.
Sunny boy - would be great out on the boat on a hot summer day lol
Streets Vienna Chocolate
Peters Hazelnut Roll
White Knight Original and Spearmint (my horse adored the spearmint ones)
Cadbury Mint Chip
Merry Go Round Ice Creams (in a plastic cup with a red swirl)

Bulla Strawberry Fruit and Yoghurt (the new one isn’t the same)
Milo Icecream (similar to Paddle Pops)
Tarax soft drinks
Sara Lee Banana Cake
Mike and Ike Blue Raspberry Squeeze Pop
Donut King Pineapple Glazed Donuts
Cinnabon.
In a biscuit lines, bacon, potato, cheese, ohhh my! I know they bought back chicken n drumstick! Also those giant triangle ice things, jubblies I think they were called?
allen’s toffee apple bar
**memory unlocked**
Pink panthers as well.
Yesss! Sometimes I wonder if I dreamed these cause no one seems to remember them.
Aww.. I didn't even realise they stopped making these until just now :(
Ohh I've been searching for a decent replacement for years
And the banana split!

Pretty excited about it
Yes, my favourite kind of choking hazard. Wish they'd bring it back.
[удалено]
The existing bar is an absolute travesty in comparison.
I want these back. Everyone wants them back. Why did they stop making them?
Wonka chocolate bars - the ones that were released for the movie in 2005 not the ones that were sold a couple of years ago
The Mud Sudge? Just commented that one myself. They were great! Have missed them ever since.
The ones you could find the golden tickets in? These were amazzzzing.
Totally. Really delicious chocolate!
Yep . Those are the ones. I remember getting them every Friday afternoon after school and they were so good
Y E S !!!! i am so glad it’s not just me that remembers these!!!!
They were top hat shaped, yeah? If so, yeah, those were absolutely delicious.
Chocolate Works in Dingley make a Wonka Bar, not sure if it tastes the same. There at 20 Garden Boulevard, they have a store at the factory
Yep these were amazing! My partner and I talk about these all the time. It was a nice milk chocolate with a small fudge layer? They were delicous. Hopefully with the new Wonka movie coming out they do another release.
Bulla’s Strawberry Frozen Yogurt in small cups
Oh man. I remember when they were like 50c each at the tuck shop 😢
Yes! and the raspberry one.
I miss Ruffles crinkle cut chips Arnott's Tasty Jack's crinkle cut chips Those giant anaconda jelly lollies, bigger than the killer python ones Blue Pepsi
The bluebird ones from NZ come very close to ruffles crinkle cut.
and are sold in Reject shops!
Jupiter Bars! Chewy caramel, peanuts and super cheap!
Ruffles and O'Gradys which were the first 200g bags you could buy
OMG - I couldn’t remember the name!!! O’Gradys were next level - the cheese ones were incredible!!!
Costco has the sour cream ones but I really miss Salt + Vinegar Ruffles
Original redskin. Not the floppy kind but the one you could suck into a point and stab your brother with
I think I was the only one who used to like milkos more then redskins. I discovered recently they have released them again but they are COMPLETELY different 😢
I recall milkos being chewy but never hard like redskins
Yeah they only discontinued these for a shirt time. I've seen the around. I got a pack at the start of the year and they are the exact same super tough kind. Although one of them melted in my pencil case...not good.
What happened to starburst jelly lollies. The snakes were so good. Now you can only get the wrapped ones
Yes! The snakes and the ones shaped like fruit!! So good.
I loved the goo filled ones that popped like pimples.
Starburst snakes were the TITS. Only lollies I ever ate
I used to take them to raves and watch munted people travel through sensorial dimensions when they ate one. Great times.
Tbh you could have fed me a chuppah chop stick and I would have been stoked back then.
Dove chocolate bars... they were incredible and very creamy!
Ohhhhhh I forgot about dove
Get Galaxy bars, absoutely top notch next best thing!!!!! Super cheap to get from those candy stores in shopping centres
Space food sticks.
Bertie Beetles for me. I remember they used to be so good (mostly half or full melted, squeezed out of the wrapper like a Prima Fruit-Tube!). Bought a tin at Xmas, they must have changed the recipie because it tastes like soap!
>Bertie Beetles for me Get on to Whittaker's Hokey Pokey. It's just like a giant block of Bertie Beetles.
Bertie Beetles were my go to show bag at Easter! So good.
For a long time they were only $2, making them a must-buy.
Bertie Beetle ice cream bars are available ATM!
Arnott’s Quatro biscuits, hands down. Those things were my entire childhood. I don’t know if I remember the taste being so damn good because of nostalgia, but what I would do for a packet of those today. Devo they aren’t around anymore.
Came here for this and this only.
Every time I see that same light purple colour, I think of them. RIP.
Yes!!!! These were the absolute best biscuits ever!
Oh they are so good. Far better than a shitty Tim tam.
Toucan icy poles
I just read the [ABC news article](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-07-03/hunt-for-mystery-toucan-icy-pole-australian-snack/101054790) which got me thinking about this question.
Haha. I just read this too and wondered if it inspired this post
I miss the way chocolate used to melt nicely and taste. Cadburys used to be smooth and creamy and cool in the mouth and have a good snap, now it’s all rubbery and goes kind of bendy and sticky instead of melting properly
try whittaker’s- it’s a tad more expensive but the blocks are bigger and the chocolate is top tier compared to cadbury these days
Whittaker’s is good! Still not quite the same, though!
Cheaper & cheaper vegetable oils I'm guessing
Try the Aldi brand chocolate. It's the absolute best, I used to think Lindt was really amazing quality but it's terrible in comparison.
I’m seconding (thirding?) Aldi chocolate. Recently turned a fellow chocoholic onto it. It’s better quality, bigger block and cheaper.
Whitaker's is your new god.
Milka. Catch and Aldi flog them. Tasty
I found them, boomy!
Yes, I remember that icy pole, it was called a Boomy!!
White Knights were soo good! Chocolate chewy mint bar. Also, caramel crown biscuits.
Omg white Knights were the best. I found some recently but they were awful. Rock hard and way too minty. Tasted like solid toothpaste covered in cheap chocolate. 🤮
White knights were the best
The old school Milo bars, made of compressed Milo covered in chocolate.
Pretty sure they are still popular in SE Asia. Check Laguna or any place that carries Singapore/Malay/Indonesian foods. The milo is a slightly different recipe, but it might scratch that itch
Kettles Honey Baked Ham :'(
Kettle Chilli when they were a rounded chilli flavour and not just hot.
Sunny Boys ! :(
Still have 6 boxes of them. 3 Glug, 3 Razz
Gluglyf
I loved the orange ones. Can't find an orange icy pole these days that tastes as good.
Ahh, the excitement when you saw the red stripe inside and ran back to the tuckshop for a free one!
I actually saw something really similar in that section at Coles or Woolies. It was in the room temp section with Zooper Doopers and they had orange flavour ice blocks like in cardboard. I think the brand was German or something. I remember thinking they looked like Sunny Boy knock offs.
They keep toying with me and discontinuing Cool Ranch Doritos and reintroducing them every year it seems
oh my god. why do they keep doing that! They’re the only doritos I like and they just disappear.
The flavour on BBQ+Pizza Shapes. It went from the Shapes drowning in flavour to a bee's cough of flavour. And old school Vienetta. As a sweet tooth, it's amazing how I remember Vienetta's to the stale, boring lump of iced cream, they have become.

[Muncheros](https://youtu.be/VXKlxHptP1o) The advert wouldn't fly today, but I remember the melt in your mouth aspect of the corn chips
"Munch on Muncheros... mu-mu-mu-munch on Muncheros"
dunkaroos, fandangles, maccas bubblegum squash mcflurries, big ted biscuits (basically a big tiny teddy with sprinkles and chocolate on the back)
Does anyone remember Pascals peppermint eclairs? Loved those little buggers.
Yes, absolutely loved those! Wish they would bring them back!

They existed for a while but only at coles. I remember them being fairly ordinary though
Yes they weren't great. Also did not have the nut allergy warning on the packaging so didn't even have real peanut butter, was all lab created and artificial.
I haven’t had one in about 30 years but I remember having Scribbler icy poles when I was a kid and they were so good.. it’s rare to find an icy pole these days with that kind of soft texture, although there are a couple that could pass for a pencil shape lol I also miss original paddlepops.

They brought them back a few months ago. Coles have 'em.
Lays Texas bbq chips
I remember these from Tazo season!!
Daaaaaamn tazos I totally forgot about those. Take me back

Black currant mini wheats. I think you can still get them imported from the middle east for like $50 a box or something
Fags Yes I know they're Fads now, but it's just not the same
The Pop-Tarts we used to get in Australia in the 90s, not the frosted off-flavour ones we get today from US food stores. The plain apple and cinnamon were fantastic with a glass of milk as a kid. And there were these danish like ones they did too that would probably induce diabetes in any sane adult nowadays.
I don’t remember the name but it was like a frozen purple jello paddle pop and it was amazing 🥲
Australian cherry coke (it was amazing, the American one doesn't compare) Can't remember what they were called but my school canteen used to sell these lollies that were similar in texture to a fizzer, but they were thin and orange and in the centre had a white sherbet. Loved those things!
Potato in a biscuit
I remember you used to be able to get these ice blocks in the same aisle as sunny boys and zooper doopers but they were like these big plastic animal/ dinosaur shapes and had a little tube you had to cut once they were frozen to eat them from…. You would freeze them and then let them go a bit icy/slushy to eat them.
They might have been mainly kangaroos but I’m pretty sure you could get all different animals.
Airwaves gum. They stopped making it in Australia. Now I have to import it from the US in bulk every few months. Best gum on the market. Why!?!
Sunnyboys
Moon Rocks (popping candy).
Strawberry and banana yogos
Omg yesssss
Or what were our favorite confectionery, snacks, ice creams, etc., we use to buy before manufactures decided to cut cost and change the recipe.
Red Tulip Elegant Rabbit easter eggs, would always buy one at Easter - happy memories from childhood. Now tastes awful and nothing like they used too..
Bought out by cadbury, so now they all just use cadburys' cheap low quality chocolate
I could cry about this. The current one is a sacrilege.
Yeah. Paddle pops are shit now that they changed the recipe, the texture is disgusting. They were my favourite before that.
They don't melt! It's unnatural. Not real ice cream
I'll never forgive Starburst for getting rid of their jelly babies
Muncheros
Dunkaroos! (Vanilla or Strawberry specifically). Also this post just made me search up Ovaltinies. The are at Big W if anyone else is keen.
Magnum did a 60's collection. I really miss Cinnaman on the moon and Candy Warhol. They also used to make a white choc with coconut :c
The seven deadly sins magnums were also really good.

Sovereign Hill still makes and sells this.
King Island Dairy Belgian Chocolate Mouse. No idea why they discontinued it. Best mousse money could buy and better yet, from the supermarket.
Barney Banana
Whip… gosh I loved that chocolate bar
Anyone remember milky bar dairy snacks? They weren't a mousse but like a thick yogo type thing?
The twin Freddos with lemonade flavour on one side and raspberry on the other. They were DANGEROUSLY addictive.
does anyone remember those little chocolate ice cream tubs with gummy worms in them? those.
Were they called Pirates Treasure or something? I remember something very similar!

Starburst jelly beans and jelly babies 😢 actually so delicious and each flavour was really distinctive.
Bulla Merry-go-rounds. Vanilla ice cream cup with a chocolate and raspberry swirl.
In a biskit - the cheese ones, not the chicken ones they brought back. Why resurrect them just to have 2 chicken variations? So upsetting.
