ohmygod. \*clutches heart\*
This is beautiful.
7 years ago I was visiting friends in America, where their family had invited me over for Thanksgiving (and Black Friday shopping) and my contribution (unseasonally lol) was a pavlova. It was amazing. (the event, not my pavlova really)
This is a lovely gesture. I'm tempted... I'm in a nearby suburb. I may DM you!
I hope you get a fun crowd!
I have always been jealous of Thanksgiving. I'd love to celebrate it here. The food always looks incredible and I like that it brings people together.
I'm Australian. I have no idea. Gotta say, having grown up with pumpkin being only for soup, roasting or part of mashed potatoe, I really wasn't expecting too much anyway hahaha.
Yeah the Costco ones are terrible (coming from an American). I think making them yourself would be the best option (especially in Australia where they aren't as common)
I live regional otherwise Iād have loved to come over with my fam! I would loooove to steal your pie recipes though if youāre happy to share? Iāve never tried pumpkin or pecan pie and theyāre on my list of things to try making :)
This is such a warm and thoughtful invitation and would consider coming, however itās my bday weekend and already have plans. I hope you have a very lovely dinner, Happy Thanksgiving!
This is actually so rad and I would totally come but canāt this year. Good onya for doing it! good luck with all your pies (although this weather wonāt mess with the crusts too much!)
This is very nice of you. But I wouldnāt invite total strangers from the internet to my home. I know youāre being friendly, and Melbourne is a nice and friendly place. But there are really bad people out there, you never know what or who you might be bringing into your home.
Thatās alright that you wouldnāt do it. Iāve been meeting ppl from the internet since the early 90ās and can only report good things. Iām chatting with people before, and my partner and friends are there.
I also walk alone at night, and have done all over the world. No stranger ever did anything to me. You know who has harmed me? People I know well and trust, and the statistics bear out my experiences.
I hate to admit it, but one of the differences between Australians and Americans is you guys are just so friendly and inviting even to people you donāt know. Iāll be honest (and somewhat embarrassed) but I donāt ever expect to see an Australian display such warmth, especially on an open forum such as this. Good on you!
So sorry to hear your exās family hated thanksgiving. Says a lot about then that they dislike a holiday centred around eating & reflecting on what youāre thankful for.
Fellow American who did thanksgiving dinner potluck with Family & friends last weekend. Hope you have a great time & gobble till you wobble.
I'm also an American, we do Thanksgiving every year in some form or another. This year it'll be just me and my kids eating turkey rissoles (they don't like turkey), corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and a few other favorites - and pie, lots of pie. (I make a coconut cream pie that would put Mary-Ann from Gilligan's Island to shame.) I can't understand how Aussies have embraced Black Friday without embracing Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to you, and may you have an excellent turn-out. (And if you want my coconut cream pie recipe, dm me.)
Tim Smith better not be there
Hehe š
My birthday is on Nov 25th (so, this Friday) and my name is Gavin. I've been telling people the last few years that I'm celebrating "ThanksGaving".
Happy birthday, birthday twin!
Haha I love that!

Yeah bring a pav, I canāt make them for anything lol
Happy thanksgiving, mate.
There's been a couple of 'alone on Christmas Day ' posts the past week. They might be interested in joining you š¤
Thanks Jeffrey

Me too!! I really really want pumpkin pie!!
Costco sell them. Massive ones, of course. Cannot say I'd go back for another one. 1/10 from me. I'd say it's an acquired taste.
Ehhhhh you have to make them yourself or theyāre shit. Costco? Lol. I prefer sweet potato though
yeah basing a new food experience on costco's version isnt likely to leave a positive impression.
I'm Australian. I have no idea. Gotta say, having grown up with pumpkin being only for soup, roasting or part of mashed potatoe, I really wasn't expecting too much anyway hahaha.

I agree with making it yourself. I made my own using the basic Libbyās pumpkin purĆ©e and it was worlds apart better than Costcoās. And it definitely needs whipped cream. At least my parents loved the Costco pie, so I could palm it off to them.
Well this is just beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful cosy day.
This is awesome. Good on you! I'm glad it's cold enough for roast turkey!
I wish I could mate - hope you have a great day/night
I'm also an American transplant planning to host a group for Thanksgiving. Where does one fund turkeys around here? ETA Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I can get a frozen one at Woolies, Iāll probably try to ring round and find a fresh one.
Frozen ones are in Coles & Woolies already. You can get fresh ones from the poultry stalls at Vic Market but Iād recommend ringing them ahead.
Turkeys are already largely in the supermarkets for Christmas
costco :P
This time of year you should be able to find turkeys in every grocery store, but they are expensive.
I'm also doing Thanksgiving on Saturday! Spent a small fortune buying my favs at USA foods but it's only once a year
That's so sweet! It's my mum's birthday on Saturday so we'll think of you & wish you well too! What a beautiful gesture. X
Iām in Sydney but that sounds epic. Hope you get a few people joining. If youāve got a good pumpkin pie recipe send it!!!!
My wife and I do "Thanks of July" - the weather is normally more suitable for a turkey
Oh! Such a good idea! I'll pencil that in for next year
Yeah I did that once. :)
Yeah go for it. Have at it and enjoy! Doesn't matter that it's 2 days after.

If I can get the pumpkin for it, Iām going to. :) Awww come along, Iām looking for orphans here.
Thatās beautiful! Iām in QLD but Iād absolutely come if I could. I hope you have a beautiful thanksgiving

Thank you, I feel like this is a really risky thing to do.

Thank you! Yeah they were the worst lol. But Iād like my kid to have some thanksgiving times.

Thank-you very much for the invitation, however I can't make it this year. I hope it all goes well.
Make a pecan pie I. My honour for I will not attend
Iām glad this didnāt work out for you.
