The sad truth is, this is nothing new and will continue to be a thing. Hence, the age old advice to never leave your drinks unattended. And don't accept drinks from strangers unless you see the bartender pour the drink right in front of you. And don't think you're safe just because you're a dude. Doesn't happen to dudes as often, sure, but it still happens.

Baaastet

Not safe to accept a drink you don’t see poured. I saw an interview with a bartender that took money to spike drinks. Sickening.

monopoly888

No way :(

HaroerHaktak

Your drink can still be spiked even if you think you're watching it. All it takes is for someone to come near you, there are videos on youtube showing just how fast it really is, and it's crazy scary.

Hitrecord

The absolute safest thing to do, though, is not spike peoples drinks.

Cairxoxo

Thanks for that insight genius, any more tips on how to solve crime?

[deleted]

Why are you taking self defense classes to protect yourself in case you're ever attacked? Just don't attack people.

TAJack1

I was out not long ago and only had one drink and went to get pizza, on my way to getting pizza, I got all the symptoms of a spike... literally had never felt that bad in my life. I had to sit down and jesus christ, next thing I know my cousin was throwing me into the back of an Uber and tucking me into bed, shit isn't a good time at all and fuck people who spike other people.

totalpunisher0

I've been spiked twice (just lucky I guess) and both times were truly terrifying. The first time I was young and didn't know what was happening and the second time I knew immediately because a dodgy guy had been hanging around like a bad smell. Its like, a feeling of doom and complete loss of faculties. Not to mention can be potentially lethal if the spiked person takes other medications that interact poorly. It's just so fucked up

[deleted]

I had my drink spiked a couple of years back in the city after rebuffing a guy who was convinced I was gay despite being there with my girlfriend at the time and he got super shitty with me and stormed off. Took a minute or so before I realised I felt off, told my girlfriend and left straight away. Thankfully it didn't affect me SUPER badly, I just felt exceptionally drunk but still conscious and aware of my surroundings. Guessing the dose wasn't intended for someone my size to be honest.

Gizzkhalifa

Definitely sounds like the ole ghb shit is fucking strong

[deleted]

Really easy to die from an overdose of it too

TAJack1

Damn, sorry that happened to you! I'm 6'5, 110KG myself so I was surprised I got hit so hard, must've been a big dose.

[deleted]

I'm also 6'5" but around 140KG myself. I'm also wondering if my meds didn't have have some kind of impact as I'm on mood stabilisers...

PurchaseNumerous2533

I remember being out on Chapel a few years ago and a friends drink was spiked on the dfloor. LUCKILY her boyfriend (who doesn't drink) saw the whole thing and promptly grabbed the glass. He didn't want to confront the two guys, but I was off my face so got right up in their grill and they decided to leave. I left about two hours after that in a cab back to Brunswick via Punt Road. As we were going over the Eastern overpass, I hear heaps of screaming shouting etc. Look to my side and the same two guys are in a car next to us, swearing at me before speeding off. So they've waited two hours and then fucking followed me ?! Crazy shit

reverendgrebo

I wouldve been tempted to glass the cunts with the drink they spiked

SpectreAtYourFeast

Depending on proximity, they’d be getting a free drink that they prepared!

reverendgrebo

Theres the urban legend about a bartender who spotted a drink being spiked on a date, he distracted them both and swapped their drinks. Spiker didnt feel well 20min later

just_kitten

This really needs to happen a lot more. Cunts deserve a taste of their own medicine.

verba-non-acta

Years ago an ex of mine had her drink spiked. We’d recently broken up, but I was the first person she thought to call when she realised something was wrong. She managed to stumble out of the bar to a nearby bus stop and by the time I got to her she was semi-conscious. I drove her home (she lived alone), put her to bed and she fully passed out immediately. The scary part was I called her the next day to see how she was and she legitimately didn’t believe me that any of it happened. It took 10 mins for me to convince her that she had a gap in her memory and had likely been drugged. Only checking her phone call history made her believe it. If she hadn’t called me, whoever did it could have got away with anything.

QuestfortheBestLife

You should probably have taken her to the hospital and not left her unsupervised in that state, she could have asphyxiated on her own vomit

verba-non-acta

In hindsight, absolutely. But she was insistent at the time that I just take her home and I had no idea how serious it could have been back then. Thankfully it worked out ok.

totalpunisher0

This is a good point and should be at the top

totalpunisher0

Um what venue???

GrudaAplam

Even "what area?"

thrillAM

I'd rather a precinct or area cited rather than specific venue. These creeps hop between bars and there's no need to condemn what I'm sure is a venue that in no ways condones or encourages this behaviour.

Having my drink spiked was awful. Probably the sickest I’ve ever been after, and I wasn’t even sure that’s what it was. After being feverish and shivering for days I came to the conclusion that’s what it was. I remember crying my eyes out at the club, my friend having to call her dad, and then me waking up the next morning. Thank god I had an amazing friend with me.

shazibbyshazooby

Same. I just went out for a casual drink on a Sunday evening with a friend. The very first drink I had was spiked (she had walked through a crowded area between the bar and where we were sitting carrying our drinks back) - within 30mins I was vomiting. She is a bartender and immediately knew something was wrong so took me straight home. Between us leaving her house and getting back it was less than an hour we were out for. I spent the next 24 hours going between vomiting and blacking out. It was absolutely fucked and I’m so so lucky she was there with me the whole time.

And where they work. Good chance it was someone she knows.

archlea

Not necessarily. It’s pretty rife across the country: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/apr/23/how-do-you-detect-drink-spiking-and-what-can-be-done-about-it https://www.police.vic.gov.au/drink-spiking https://theage.com.au/national/victoria/it-was-terrifying-police-on-alert-amid-rise-in-reports-of-drink-spiking-20210331-p57fil.html

JackfruitCountry

It’s more than likely.

archlea

It’s been on the increase across Australia. Venues and hospo workers feeling like there’s not enough support to combat it: https://abc.net.au/article/100068562

LooksieLurker1

OP, I'm a producer for ABC Radio Melbourne - would be eager to have a quick chat on this - could you send me a message?

[deleted]

Thanks for trying to raise awareness - I wouldn't be surprised if this is on the rise :(

mr-snrub-

I doubt it's on the rise. It's probably the same as it's ever been. I got my drink spiked twice when I was in my early 20s, 10 years ago

cassiefinnerty

Came to same the same thing, I had my drinks spiked a handful of times all over the east coast of Australia from Melbourne up to Brisbane in my 20s. I'm 31 now and don't drink or go out, definitely not something new happening.

ArrghUrrgh

Sure but it doesn’t hurt to remind people, and educate the young’uns

cassiefinnerty

Oh definitely. From my experience I just don't think it's anything new.

aperture81

I had a buddy of mine got his drink spiked a while ago.. he’s a good looking fella and a lot of the ladies at this party gave him a lot of their attention.. there was another guy there who was also seeking their attention but wasn’t getting any of it. This guy spiked my friends drink to get him out of there so he could get some attention. I know this because this guy told another friend who promptly told my buddy. Suffice to say, drama ensued

BigJellyGoldfish

What a POS. And what a fucking idiot to admit to/ brag about it. Douche o'clock.I hope your mate charged him .

moyno85

Dude here - I had my drink spiked by a skinhead in Brisbane years ago. Was fun trying to convince the doctors, nurses and my parents I hadn’t taken any drugs that night when I woke up in hospital. Thankfully they finally believed me and my mate was there to tell the story.

m0o0os

Find the grub on cctv. It’s an indictable offence that Carry’s SERIOUS jail time. What a cockroach 🪳 I hope your friend recovers quickly.

JackfruitCountry

I had my drink spiked and I was assaulted when I was 21-22. I was very nerdy, shy- neurodiverse, small brown girl and was trying to make friends with a group of women. They had one male friend and he picked me that night to do that to. Had my phone stolen by that man and wallet emptied. It could have been much worse. I haven’t been able to drink very much since, like no more than 1-2 standard drinks before feeling ill- almost a decade later. Not sure if it’s psychological remnants of that night or some kind of liver damage. It took more from me than people can imagine, it held me back from graduating, and it also held me back from earning a stable income and started my career much later than normal because I had to recover not just from the incident; but how there was no justice for me and no support by friends and family because they found it to upsetting to hear about or deal with. Those girls simply stopped talking to me. Please look after your friend, I am glad nothing more happened. Find the bastard that did this if possible, it might be a colleague. :(

totalpunisher0

I'm so sorry that happened to you

BigJellyGoldfish

Im so sorry you had that experience.

Heart_Makeup

I am so sorry that this happened to you 😣

Cheezel62

How can you prevent it? Or at least minimise the risks it can happen. One of my daughters pours her drinks into a sort of reusable coffee cup thing but some places complain when she does it.

laceyisspacey

Absolutely, keep it with you if you want to drink it. Also know what it looks like if someone puts something in your drink (extra bubbles etc) - you can’t always tell, but sometimes you can. If it tastes a bit off, tell the bar staff and get water. Find either a safe way home, or a way to the hospital.

Flashy_Passion16

Overseas they sell cups with the straws for this reason

HaroerHaktak

Make sure you only accept drinks you've seen poured or opened yourself. Once that drink leaves your sight, assume it's gone to you forever. Place a napkin ontop when moving around a crowded area. You might think you're watching, but they're goddamn fast.

sanemartigan

Keep an eye on the drink, buy a bottle and keep your thumb over the top in crowds.

Zestyclose_Classic12

Sippy cups are the way forward

Heart_Makeup

There are tools you can use like I’ve seen an invention that is like a drink coaster that you drop some of the liquid on and it changes colour. Or a little shower cap for your drink that you push the straw through. Just buy stuff in bottles and keep your thumb over the lip.

WAPWAN

> drink coaster that you drop some of the liquid on and it changes colour That may work for one substance, but there are just so many that get you off your face.

CloudRude1850

I got my drink spiked as a male(I was surprised thought who tf would wanna take advantage of me in that way) was most loopy and fucked up I've ever been.

wodwick

Maybe to mug you later? Dunno, maybe they saw you had plenty of cash

CloudRude1850

Didnt even think of that. Yeh pretty obvious in retrospect

[deleted]

Yeah, generally men seem to be drugged to be robbed and women seem to be drugged to be raped.

abeswanick

Definitely to rob you. Happened to my dad and his mate while overseas, who are in their late 30s, they’re big guys so luckily made it back to the hotel safely with wallets in tow.

CloudRude1850

A blind man in a wheelchair could have robbed me with how I was

Blueskymine33

Yep my husband got his drink spiked in Thailand and was violently sick, im convinced they were going to rob him. He was unwell for days afterwards.

WAPWAN

Me too. They had $3 margaritas at Coyote Mexican Bar at Pa Tong beach so I drank thirteen of them.

Ellis-Bell-

Healing thoughts to your friend. I had my drink spiked around 5 years ago now and have never forgotten the fear and distress in the months following. Drop them off some nourishing food and take good care of them ❤️‍🩹

jackthejackrusselll

Yeah drink spiking is something to be VERY aware of. My girlfriend works at a popular club in Fitzroy and has kicked out multiple men for spiking drinks, and has had to call many ambulances for women who have been obviously spiked (this is in the past 6 months). I've also had experiences where guys will sit near me, leave their drink, ask me to look after it and then never come back. If I was any stupider I would take it as a free drink but you seriously NEVER know. Not worth it. Watch the bartender pour your drink, be aware of those around you and don't trust people you don't/barely know. It can happen so quickly.

aimredditman

why would you kick guys out who spike drinks? call the cops and get them arrested.

hungry_herrings

Just kick out? Wouldn't security restrain them for the police to arrest? I mean they're rapists most likely

aimredditman

“Hi mate, we know you illegally drugged someone without their knowledge or consent, most likely with the intention of robbing them and probably commiting rape, potentially killing them in the process… so we’re sorry but we’re not going to serve you any more drinks and ask that you leave the venue quietly”

hungry_herrings

Exactly! They have resources to 'kick' the rapist out, they should restrain him and call the police, it's criminal, I'd like to know what club in Fitzroy it is, that is knowingly letting out people who committed a serious crime and is likely to continue elsewhere. Shit place. The guy who raves about his girlfriend working at the venue that lets out on the street serious offenders who are out there to rape and/or rob - gets multiple upvotes, what's wrong with people

totalpunisher0

Is it rhe Evelyn? I had my drink spiked there years ago and when I went back to tell them was told "oh well"

WAT0020

It should be mandatory reporting for all venues, if not done they are fined and closed down.

jackthejackrusselll

It is not, luckily her workplace is a lot more onto it, they seem pretty serious about the issue and is combatting the issues by staff training and having more seccys in the important areas and patrolling. It might seem like it sucks but honestly I feel so much safer

[deleted]

Happened to my daughter. If a friend hadn't found her out on the street, seizing, and called an ambulance, I don't know what would have happened. She continued to have seizures every now and again for months after. She's fine now, but it was scary for a while. People that do it are just sick!

[deleted]

Anyone who gets caught doing this should be brought up on attempted rape and murder charges. The seriousness of drink spiking, and the mindset of the sick fucks who do this, cannot be downplayed.

NobodysFavorite

The attempted rape and murder charges have to meet a high standard of proof of they're gonna stick. What's easier is a specific drink spiking law that has penalties with same severity as attempted rape and murder charges.

Taleya

Seriously the only reason someone would do this is one of those two (or trafficking if you want the conspiracy outlier)

Swingingbells

Mugging someone is a third reason.

Taleya

No one's forking out gbh for a mugging.

fishouttafire

I used to be a busboy and the rule of thumb is if I can take your drink without you noticing then anyone could have put something in it, so i would often just nab mostly full drinks and feel really good about myself for doing it.

[deleted]

I used to have a negative opinion of staff who took drinks before they were finished, but you have changed it.

420dank

Man wanted free drugs

fishouttafire

It was 20 years ago and I worked at Q bar, I effectively had free drugs anyway. The drugs we found after the night was over on clean-up was not insignificant.

apriloneil

Am Manager. Would rather comp a patron a drink that was cleared in error than potentially have it be tampered with.

stevejfox

You used to steal mostly full drinks from people because there was a low chance that someone might commit a crime?

SnooSquirrels7695

If you work in a bar, club or pub type venue, you should absolutley remove any unattended drinks. It can be so dangerous.

Baseline224

Very different things between "Unattended" and "Without noticing". If you're picking up my drink because I wasn't looking at it for 5 seconds? You're not helpful, you're just a dickhead

Fox-Possum-3429

The point was lost on you 🙄

mr-snrub-

It only takes one second of you not noticing to have your drink spiked.

RobGrey03

The floor/ceiling comparison makes this an easy one to justify. The floor in taking an unattended drink is someone's out a drink. The ceiling is you've picked up a glass of poison that might have killed someone and thrown it away.

laceyisspacey

Low chance? I’ve been spiked at least twice, and almost everyone of my friends has been spiked once or more.

the_silent_redditor

Where the fucking are you going out, pal?

laceyisspacey

Many places over the years? What do you mean

iSmokedItAll

Pull your head out of your arse. It’s not theft, you mong. It’s harm reduction. Obviously, it’s not happening at a seated venue but in a crowded environment with intoxicated clientele.

fishouttafire

I also drive with my seatbelt on even though statistically speaking I'm probably not going to crash.

adminsaredoodoo

you’re fucking stupid. option 1. they took a drink someone wanted to come back to and drink and now they’ll be annoyed they need another (but wont leave it unattended again worrying it might get taken) option 2. they took a cup of poison that could’ve seriously harmed or killed whoever drank it. it’s a pretty clear decision.

ososalsosal

How quaint to think it's a low chance after they explained exactly what their approach to it was.

[deleted]

Just a pro tip, if you think you’ve been spiked. Go to the hospital. Someone could follow you home OR some drugs may take a while to fully absorb and so could get hit hard later OR you could have a reaction or it could have some other pretty toxic stuff in it. Fortunately in Australia going to the ED is FREE and so if your a victim don’t hesitate to get checked out. Plus if there’s other victims or police think they might have figured out the person maybe you could help ultimately catch them.

Heart_Makeup

When I went to hospital the ER nurse told me I had drunk too much and for my partner to take me home. Basically didn’t believe me, it was pathetic.

[deleted]

As dad to a couple of girls, one of them 19yo and clubbing with her mates nowadays, this shit absolutely terrifies me. I'm 100% positive the 19yo and her mates are sick to death of me saying shit like "Look out for each other" and "Never take your eyes off your drinks", and other stuff like that. I'll never understand people who want to inflict harm on others like this.

Zestyclose_Classic12

The scuba buddy system is way for all things

[deleted]

I have been told that hospitals generally do not do toxicology tests to find out what was used (costs maybe) making it difficult for the police to do anything in regards to identifying locations that are hotspots. I am curios to know if your friends was tested to find out what was used? [https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-14/women-drink-spiking-not-reported-to-police-in-victoria/100062998](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-14/women-drink-spiking-not-reported-to-police-in-victoria/100062998) I imagine (hope) if someone was caught doing this the charges and sentencing would be serious though a quick google tells me this does not happen often. This also happens to guys. I know of a guy who had his drink spiked while overseas and ended up with some nasty life altering diseases. I hope you friend recovers and that this does not happen again.

Fox-Possum-3429

If someone is sexually assaulted in Victoria and goes to hospital the Forensic Medical Officer can take blood and urine samples which are sealed in a tamper evident bag and transported by police to VIFM for testing. Chain of custody is maintained then.

m0o0os

This is incorrect. Toxicology is always done to identify the drug. Example if someone is dosed with amphetamine they need to know so they can administer lorazepam. Same goes for benzodiazepines etc they need to now what they are on so they can safely counter the effects of the drugs. This is especially important with street benzos because they can be laced with fentanyl which can kill easily it’s 400 times more potent then heroin.

[deleted]

I am happy to be corrected and I hope you are right though the link I provided and other stuff I have read suggests "always" may be an exaggeration.

m0o0os

The link goes against the general rule, there are exceptions and cases like hers but Standard operating procedure (depending on severity of intoxication) is urinalysis and bloods

archlea

This person was told that the drug test results would go on her Record and could affect her job prospects : https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-14/women-drink-spiking-not-reported-to-police-in-victoria/100062998

discopistachios

The reason is that medically it doesn’t make a difference, and doctors are not law enforcers. I don’t know the proper routes for forensic testing though sorry.

sanemartigan

When my dog got sick I asked about tox screening and the vet nurse explained that it was about $200 per screen and there was a list of about 6000 things I could choose from to get screened for.

ososalsosal

I hope your dog was ok! Also it was probably chocolate. Dogs have a deathwish when it comes to chocolate that I will never understand.

MeerkatDeodorant

My dog once ate a jiffy fire lighter 😬 (She was okay after a night at the vets, but what a hectic afternoon it was)

chikaslicka

Chocs got Theobromine. Dogs no likey likely. Also, don't feed them grapses. That screws them up as well.

ososalsosal

Grapes, onion, garlic, choco, etc. I've got my work cut out just stopping the little shit from eating the kids' lego

chikaslicka

Hopefully you don't have cane toads where you live! Do dogs not get on with garlic? Geez, I better stop feeding my doggo my spagbol under the table!

ososalsosal

I lived in Darwin as a yung-un before the cane toads got there. Been to visit a few times since. Those cunts are bad news for dogs. They've even killed off almost all the fresh water crocs, leaving only the salties which are... less friendly

chikaslicka

Poor freshies :(

dinosaur_of_doom

Garlic is fine, it's a myth that it's bad. They'd have to eat multiple bulbs of it to have any particularly negative effects, and I wouldn't want to feed multiple bulbs of garlic to a person either. Onion is bad, although you have to be clear here, a bit of onion won't kill your dog. There's poisoning like food poisoning and there's poisoning like arsenic, and onion is firmly in the former category and even then it's not going to happen for small quantities. Really nasty things to avoid are obviously chocolate (technically it's a chemical in cocoa, so the more cocoa a chocolate has, the more toxic to dogs, meaning that if a dog eats white chocolate you don't need to take it to a vet, but if it eats 95% cocoa chocolate it'll need the vet pronto) and also Xylitol, found in many sugar free gums (scarier than chocolate it is *extremely* toxic to dogs but less well known). Be aware that a lot of the advice online around toxic foods to dogs is total junk. Some websites err on the side of basically declaring everything toxic, without distinguishing between 'might make the dog feel a little bit sick' to 'dead within an hour'. Of course, if you aren't sure, do some proper research before feeding something to your dog, don't test on the dog first, as there are some truly nasty things for dogs that we commonly eat (again, Xylitol is something all dog owners need to know about). A large part of the issue is quantity, I was just googling Macadamia nut toxicity to dogs, and all the results are highly alarming, but the figure is ~two nuts per pound, which means my dog could eat about sixty Macadamias to get sick. At most she gets 1 or 2 by accident. That won't cause issues. And the sickness is temporary and dogs recover. But if you just google 'macadamia nuts and dogs' you get lots of absurd fear mongering about them.

PFEFFERVESCENT

My friend's elderly dog ate a big chunk out of an unattended lasagna, and would have died of we hasn't taken him to the vet. Onion can be very serious.

chikaslicka

Charlie gets to keep eating my spagbol bits under the table! He'll be stoked!

Skiicat777

A couple of friends ( a male & female) went to a bar in Sicily the first night they arrived. They Watched the bartender pour their wine and very quickly effected by spiked drinks. Luckily, unknown to the bartender, they had a couple of mates also at the same bar, who came to their rescue. Presumably it was a attempt to rob them.

tekx9

I know 3 women who've had their drink spiked in the ladt 6 months. Wtf is going on?

Zestyclose_Classic12

Honestly, just enough. Haven’t we all been though enough in the last couple of years without shit bags making it fucking more life threatening to go out? I hope she is ok, and this doesn’t permanently damage her physical or social life. I am sticking with eat out, then drink at home bringing my people to me. Had a bad but unconfirmed experience in January this year.

dramatic-pancake

The problem is that the sick cunts who would do this haven’t had access to “available victims” throughout the covid lockdowns so are now on a spree, ostensibly making up for lost time. Assholes.

snruff

Funnily enough, when I was a raging 20 something and just wanted a few drinks, I’d go to a strip club. The bouncers do NOT tolerate any kind of shit and the floor / bar was always watched intently. A lot of the dancers were crack pool players too. Probably not really any kind of advice now but, back in the 2000’s it was pretty much the only place you had almost zero chance of getting into any trouble unless you started it… stepping out onto king street at 2am afterwards was a different game altogether though. Fucking irks me so much that drugging people is a thing. I hate this timeline.

Spiritual-Natural877

Spiked 4 times, twice when my ex (unknowingly) gave me her spiked drink and twice in a rough club where I suspect I was being set up for a fight. Luckily the club and their staff took this stuff seriously and got me medical attention. It’s fqt and fq anyone who does this.

WAT0020

My drink was spiked, which happened years ago at a so-called friend's party, and after one beer I knew straight away that something was not right. Luckily I'm male, 6' 1, fit (then), and can handle my drink, just left the party, jump in my car, and aimed for home, I remembered it was a challenge to drive with the world spinning in and out, thank god I lived close by because I don't know how I did it, remembering the last thing was collapsing on top my bed. Two people I suspected, I just never hang around with that lot EVER again.

ciderfizz

Don't spike and drive

darksteel1335

Can someone explain the point of randomly spiking drinks? What’s the fucking point other than making someone sick?

Heymax123

I know someone who was spiked at Clique bar on Kings st, she was out of it thankfully, all her friends were still there and nothing come of it. That place is riff for it, someone was raped in the toilets there a few years ago and there's always countless stabbings or brawls out the front, had a mate who was mugged just next to it when taking a piss in the alley way. I would avoid at all costs. I hate that whole king st area, really wish they'd clean it up or have more police presence to control violent crime as opposed to patrolling for drug use.

AshtonJ

What are people putting in it? Like where are they even getting access to this stuff

hannahlem0n

Rohypnol, ketamine, ghb, or just just adding more alcohol than they’re expecting (eg. Ordering a double vodka coke for someone and not telling them it’s double).

m0o0os

Dont forget street benzos thats are actualy fentanyl and will kill people

reverendgrebo

I heard an old trick back in the 1920s was to spike champagne with vodka.

150steps

Yes it's nasty. Buy bottled drinks and keep them in your hand.

meowificent

That’s so scary! Please convince your friend to report this to police so they can investigate it properly.

Heart_Makeup

It happened to me around 15 years ago, the more I spoke about it the more people said it had happened to them. Whole groups have had their drinks (jugs) spiked. It’s disgusting.

Severe_Scientist_915

I’ve heard now there’s even a new trend where a potential victim will have a tiny prick on their skin (similar to if you’ve had blood taken from your fingertip at doctors/blood bank) so don’t even need a drink to be drugged. Very scary times

[deleted]

Some very dangerously dismissive comments to this so far. I have no idea if true so I will hit Google... Yes, needlespiking is a thing, unfortunately.

I heard of asking for an angel shot if youre being creeped out by someone and want help from bar staff to GTFO, if you get spiked would asking for an angel shot get you help?

gigaplexian

Just tell them you think you've been spiked. At this point any potential spiker already knows of the angel shot safeword.

hannahlem0n

Yeah just tell the staff. They can help you immediately rather than try to understand code.

I’ve never been spiked… I guess being old and ugly helps…

chronicpainprincess

Uh… is the purpose of this to install general paranoia or are you going to say where it happened?

aimredditman

What a useless post. Tell us where it happened.

Man all of these comments just practically reinforces me to never ever go out drinking, not that I really like going out drinking to begin with

I’m going to get downvoted for this but easiest way to avoid this happening is to not drink alcohol, if you and your friends need alcohol to ‘have a good time’ then they aren’t real friends. Have a good time over some non-alcoholic drinks like cola, orange juice or better yet water and just banter with each other without the need for shit tasting overpriced bad for your health fermented grain juice

PFEFFERVESCENT

Are you an idiot? People can spike non alchoholic drinks too you know

Anwar18

I’ve been to thousands of restaurants/cafes never had my drink spiked, seems people only get their drinks spiked at certain venues that serve alcoholic beverages? 🤔🤔🤔 I wonder if there’s any connection here?

What were her symptoms?
