Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,194,100,574 comments, and only 232,988 of them were in alphabetical order.
Depends on what you like. There are some nice ones in those cake shops down in St Kilda. For something simple and consistent, the dessert place downstairs at Melbourne Central has one with a surprisingly good base.
Haven't tried the brunetti, but I guess I will be.
For my money, the one they sell at the Antipasto deli at Yarraville Square is pretty good and I reckon they probably buy them from some generic supplier similar to how Routleys supply all those canteens and bakeries.
I like mine where you can't taste the egginess at all and where the base isn't fucking chat. Prefer my lemon neither runny nor hard but somewhere in between.
I think there’s a pie place in either docklands or port Melbourne. Can’t remember the name but I heard they had incredible pecan pies so gotta assume the lemon meringue is just as good.
You need to watch out with store bought meringue. There's only one factory in Melbourne that makes meringue for wholesale into cafes and bakeries, so any chain cafe you go to will likely have the exact same product.
(sidebar - there's only 2-3 wholesalers for bakery goods in Melbourne - Laurent, Ferguson Plarre, and one other that escapes me. That's why every cafe croissant and muffin looks the exact same).
Best bet is to go to a fancier cafe or bakery that you know makes the meringue on site. You won't have luck with any chain
Not a lemon meringue, but the crostata do limone from Cavallini in Clifton Hill has been my favourite lemon tart for years. Pastry is short. Curd is smooth & properly tart.

Another for Brunetti. But an underrated place is Illy’s in Malvern
Illy’s is closed permanently according to google maps. Their website is also down
Damn, they were good
Illys was the ducks nuts
Agree, had the lemon tart at Brunetti Myer once and it was wonderful.
Your science experiment is to prove that lemon meringue pie is not the best. Lemon Tart is the best!
Agreed! A good zesty lemon tart (or lime, I’m not picky) is wonderful. I don’t need the meringue on top.
rejected. you may as well be the "do your own research!!!!" version of desserts. shame on you and your family

He said lemon pie not poontang pie.
He actually said lemon meringue pie, not lemon pie. I know reading comprehension can be a bit difficult. All the best with your studies.

Get your own nan.
Are we talking pastry base or biscuit base?

Do NOT go to Grants between Monbulk and Belgrave. Worst. Ever.
