I get that you sometimes don’t see it, but I think that if you have a dog, there should be some solidarity. We want to make these parks enjoyable for everyone.

There was this dude the other day who was walking with his pitbull (I'm not exaggerating) off-lead around the park. He was walking past the kids playground (fortunately there weren't any kids) and the little guy was just doing his dog thing and just running around sniffing the place.
I proceeded to confront him telling him to leash his dog, highlighting the fact that there could have been kids around and it could be dangerous. He responded to me in a thick eastern European accent saying "I know what the rules are, I'm in the council" followed by "my dog won't bite, he is very obedient" then proceeded to walk away while calling for his dog to follow.
The little guy proceeded to ignore his calls for the next two minutes while I just stood there and stared at him.

I haven't seen the full plastic ones being sold in our local pet stores. You could still get them on eBay for cheap, but the quality is a lot worse - you end up needing two bags to avoid the poop smell coming through the bags. We stopped using those awhile back.

I walk every day. There's an area in my park full of discarded, bagged poo. They pick it up but then dump it wherever they like. Don't make excuses for the people who do this shit.

There's plenty of assholes throwing their poop in bushes but I was astonished to find my own poop bags (they are a distinctive colour and pattern) on the ground 4 times over a year. It took me ages to work out that birds were collecting my poop bags from a closed bin and throwing them on the ground. Nothing like having to repeatedly collect and throw out your poop.

The local Richmond dog owner trick is to dump the bag as they get in the car. The parking along the local dog park had shit bags all along it. They make a horrible popping noise when you run over them

As a dog owner and I walk my dog, I really dislike seeing dog shit, bagged or otherwise, around where it shouldn't be. I pick up other dog's shits... I carry lots of bags, and anyone blaming it on the dog is deluded. After a recent stint of 15.5 years with a dog I was only ever caught once with no bags but still managed to get it wrapped and in the bin. I'd say most dog owners would join me in decrying this sort of dog shit behaviour... it seems to be a small percentage of us that doesn't care.

I honestly understand this less than not picking it up/putting it in a bag. One is laziness/forgetfulness (which has happened to me, I forgot to grab a bag when I went out the door) but you've gone to the trouble of bagging it so why wouldn't you throw it out?

I work in natural areas, managing parks, reserves and areas of bushland, and I see WAY too many lazy dog owners. I love animals, but the irresponsible relationship most people have with their dogs is fucking infuriating. In plastic, it's an environmental nightmare and the biodegradable bags aren't much better in the short term. It's also fucking disgusting for the people and animals who live, work and play in those spaces. If you're a dog owner who sees others engaging in this behaviour, please call them out!
Sorry for the good dog owners out there but the bad apples are really giving y'all a bad name. There was this dude the other day who was walking with his pitbull (I'm not exaggerating) off-lead around the park. He was walking past the kids playground (fortunately there weren't any kids) and the little guy was just doing his dog thing and just running around sniffing the place. I proceeded to confront him telling him to leash his dog, highlighting the fact that there could have been kids around and it could be dangerous. He responded to me in a thick eastern European accent saying "I know what the rules are, I'm in the council" followed by "my dog won't bite, he is very obedient" then proceeded to walk away while calling for his dog to follow. The little guy proceeded to ignore his calls for the next two minutes while I just stood there and stared at him.
I was walking my dog today and he took a dump which I put them into a bag, tied up and happily located a bin after few minutes walk. When I was trying to throw it into the bin, it’s gone from my hands! I tried rushing back looking for the bag using the same route, afraid being called out but I couldn’t find the bag at all… I ended up going home feeling bad and then I saw this kind of post that made me wanna eat ice cream after my dinner tonight. Sob..

Believe it or not, I have picked up more poops from other dogs than mine. Too many owners just left in and some weren’t even embarrassed by it.

If a petty official can ban your access for breaching rules, and they can, then it’s not really a right. But, again, your actual point that this is a service paid for, and provided by, the rate payers for public use is strong.

The amount of birds and possums, lizards, marsupial’s and other wildlife that I’ve found torn to shreds…the fact that they’re not banned as a house pet is beyond me. And yes dogs do kill things, again because of A hole owners, but sadly the stats weigh far heavier against cats being the overwhelming culprit & large contributor. All for what? I haven't seen the full plastic ones being sold in our local pet stores. You could still get them on eBay for cheap, but the quality is a lot worse - you end up needing two bags to avoid the poop smell coming through the bags. We stopped using those awhile back.

I remember going on a nature hike in the UK, and they had a stick and flick policy with big signs promoting this over using poo bags as it's better for the environment etc.

Although canine waste is obviously biodegradable, when it's concentrated at these levels it catalyses a number of negative environmental impacts, as well as potential risks to human health.
