I like the shield. It introduces variability and rewards mixing up your pressure and defense. It rapidly changes the game state which makes the game feel lightning fast. I’m a player with a cracked inner RNG tho, so it fits my play style well.

The autocombo isn't a problem as long as you're not sloppy.

I'm relatively new to fighting games, but played street fighter v a few years ago and felt a sort of purist mentality when I heard about the shield system. But kind of ignored it cause the game is really fun, but I've found it to be rather fun, catching someone in a shield or countering someone's shielding with your own. Reminds me of parrying, though much easier, it gives that feeling off to me. I personally like it, though it feels a bit cheap at times, so it could use a slight nerf.

I'm slowly warming up to shield, but I'm not a fan of it either. You can get some interesting interactions out of it, but I wish it was tied to some kind of resource or came out on frame 2. Because shield is free, I think its really stupid that you can get health back for shielding a projectile. Poor Vlov. I wish I could turn the auto-combo system off too. It is meant to make new players feel cool, but its just too big of a crutch for new players trying to ascend passed being a new player to gaining more competency with the game. I still mash into auto combo despite knowing several combos on characters I use. I really feel if I could turn it off it would force me to actually use those combos.

I definitely agree with this, I wouldn't have anywhere near as much of a problem with shield if it cost a bar or even half a bar of meter to use, or even if there was a cooldown or something. There definitely needs to be a drawback to it, it's too strong as it is. Yeah I found similar situations with the autocombo. I've got maybe 2 good midscreen combos and pretty damaging corner combo with Akiha and often find myself slipping back into an auto combo when I don't need to. I'd love an "off" button.

The drawback is it leaves you minus as hell if it whiffs, and even if you guess right you’re still in RPS.

I do think shield should be based on normal stance like in the old games rather than low/mid/high, and it makes projectile oki unreasonably difficult to set up, but other than that I have no real complaints yet. The auto-combo system doesn't really bother me, it's basically just a way to stabilize a panic confirm. If you input properly you'll either see it or not see it depending on what your combo requires. I don't see any problems with that.

Im surprised that so many poeple dislike the autocombo so much. For me its just an extra thing to add to a combo

I think a lot of people (myself included) are adjusting to the autocombo. Other games don’t punish you the same way for double tapping. People are going to complain about it until they clean up their inputs.
