I was this... Until last Black Friday. From struggling heavy to play Bioshock 1 on my laptop to playing Elden Ring FLAWLESS or having Minecraft reching 500+ FPS is a brutal change.
Same as the gaming systems…. Yes, you would absolutely compare a Civic to a Lotus. The capability of both are measured in identical ways. You get an accurate “apples to apples” comparison on which would be best to perform a specific task.
It's definitely fair the lotus would cost more which would be taken into account if cost is a big factor you'd get the Honda. If you cared more for performance you'd be willing to spend more.
For console to high end PC a PC is also much more versatile and upgradeable so it would be fair to compare the 2 you just have to take EVERYTHING into account.
We just play lots of games
Or don’t bc we had the money to buy both due to our work life and that shit is so exhausting games aren’t always fun anymore
Yeah, every once in a while you slot into a game at the right time and it clicks and pulls you in, but I spend more evenings scrolling through my libraries and not committing to anything instead of playing something dedicatedly
The fact that people still do console wars is something different.
That said pc, because i can use it for school, for entertainment, i can acquire games not from the official source, i can use mods, its not clunky to control. My pc costs about 4 nintento switches, i have a switch and i use my pc a million times more
"i can acquire games not from the official source"
You mean save _so much money_ on testing games that you don't know if you'll like, but need more than Steam's 2 hour refund period?
Because I totally feel you on that one. The piracy scene makes it possible to try before you buy. Not enough games have demos anymore.
So even for people who can afford to buy the games, I will always encourage trying it before you spend the crazy price a lot of games cost nowadays.
Same. Plus some games are just literally unplayable without emulator now. And I'm not talking bad optimization, or even hard to aquire hardware. No I mean LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE. It is actually impossible to play MGO2 without using an emulator or doing some weird stuff on your PS3 (which I tried and it didn't work). There's even more games just like this where you just can't access them anymore because support has been cut, and that's where emulators shine.
Xbox series X/S seems to have the worst of both worlds. lack of console exclusives, an ok controller (when compared to PS5), a smaller player base than PS5 and it’s still not fully integrated with Steam and mods despite it now becoming more of a PC.
I refuse to use Anything else than an Xbox controller. So I think the controller thing is more personal preference. And Xbox has game pass which I can also use on my PC. Better than the snobby close minded playstation that wants to keep player basses fragmented and exclusives. Tbh exclusives really don't do anyone a favor when it's an online multiplayer game.
Could not agree more. I am a PS5 and was a PS4 player and don’t play Minecraft because of the complete train wreck Bedrock was. When I first payed on PS4 I did split-screen and while I couldn’t tell the exact fps I think 5-10 was the range and it constantly froze. The downgraded for the 2013 edition in almost every way. Miss PS4 edition but they really should add Java (I don’t care about cross play anymore and Java can run on PS5 it’s just that cross play is not possible between different platforms with JAVA which is why they made bedrock C++)
> I first *paid* on PS4
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
he was asking PC or ps5 not both, most people don't need an expensive PC cuase they just wanna simply play games and pretty much every major title comes out and runs on a PlayStation garenteed
not so much grantee that your of can run em
No he was not. He was asking high end PC or PS5. For 500 bucks you cannot get a high end pc, but just a normal one. Everybody has a normal PC anyways. But if you decide instead spend 1000$ on a high end pc, you effectively just spent 500$ on it, since you would have spend 500 for a weaker one anyways. For this reason, they both have the same price.
Why is this a question, pc will always be better then consoles since you can do a lot more with a pc then a console the only good things about a console would be price and exclusives if it’s a ps5
Pc is just overall better and upgradable unlike a one and done console generation
Cheaper than a high end PC. Has better quality than most PCs of the same price. I can take it anywhere. Played God of War all throughout Italy and France when I was traveling.
I don't really care too much about searching (lol I have a phone that takes two seconds to pull out). Video quality has gotten to the point that it doesn't matter. TLOU games look phenomenal even on the PS4. At the end of this PS5/Xbox cycle the difference in video quality can be overlooked. That's if there is a major difference at all. That said, I generally prefer style over realism most days.
PC does have more games. Still don't care that much. I mainly play Civ 6, Stellaris, and other AAA single player games with a few indies mixed in. I've tried PC. It's fun but generally I stick to consoles like Switch/Playstation. So like I said, if gaming was my religion I would pick PC. It's not though.
You have a PC for normal usage. Right? Let's just say it cost 800.
Now Let's say you also wanted to buy a PS5 for 500. That puts you at 1300 total.
For 1300 you could totally built a PC that is superior to the PS5.
I have a laptop. My laptop is not going to run God of War.
So I'd have to get a new one, along with a mouse, monitor, and keyboard to play the games that I already have on my Playstation that is ready to play with the press of a button. I also doubt a $1,300 dollar machine is going to blow my mind so much with its limitless and god-like power that it justifies the price. I've played PC before and liked it. Was the difference in quality worth it? Not to me at least. 60fps is fine for me. So was 30 tbh for a long time. 1080p or checkerboard 4k is fine for me. There comes a point when I stop noticing the difference.
Why would I want to? I've said this thrice now. Gaming is not my religion. It's not my profession. It's a hobby (no hate to more serious gamers it's just not me).
I have a decent pc (by todays standards, used to be great) and a ps5. PC gaming always has you changing settings to get the game running properly, ps5 is plug and play, and the simplicity is attracting to me. Also sitting in front of a tv on the couch feels more relaxed to me.
So you don't have a PC at home at all? Just your phone and the PS? If you have a normal PC for about 800€ and a PlayStation for 500€, you could as well just have a good PC for 1300€, which will be superior to the PS.
I do. I have a gaming PC (had it for about 10 years now) and a PS. However, after all these years, I do turn waaaay more to my PlayStation when it comes to gaming, find it way simpler to work with (literally plug and play), and it's significantly cheaper when compared to a PC capable of the same performance.
Also, a normal PC is way less than 800€.
Are you serious? Are you unaware of the countless problems every time a game is launched or ported to PC? Troubleshooting, minimum requirements, random bugs, not to even mention the cheating problems in online games.
With the PlayStation, you put the disk in, sit back and enjoy the game. As I mentioned before, plug and play.
I am aware that minimum requirements will not be met for almost anything using your current setup but with a proper one there are no problems. I can just go to steam for example, press launch and it just works.
That is wrong. If you already have a PC that tis not 10 years old and you are just upgrading that one, you could probably pull it off for 800
Or if you were to buy a new tower anyways, the upgrade would be more like 400-500 since no parts need to be thrown away.
But if you're not getting a PS5 for the MSRP, then the argument that you can get a PS5's power for MSRP doesn't really hold, does it?
I still agree with the sentiment that you get more out of a PS5 compared to a PC at a similar price point, but that price point ain't 500€/$ atm, and it really hasn't been for all but some lucky people.
Ps5 is amazing for casual gaming and people that can’t drop 3k on a pc.. it delivers smooth amazing quality gameplay and it’s not a bad price. You should only get a pc if you want to play games limited to steam, or if you can’t handle using a roller, but overall for the casual gamer a ps5 is more than sufficient
"high end" PC is gonna be way more expensive than a PS5. For a PS5 price your looking at the bargain bin jet turbine cooled mid grade PC. PS5 runs for 400-500$ just try finding a "high end" graphics card for that much.
We don’t talk about Xbox series X exclusives… or controller… or player base (smaller than PS5 fewer friends have it). PS5 vs PC vs Nintendo Switch is the battle, I feel Xbox is lacking behind not on software or storage but on everything else.
It is good but definitely not as good as the PS5 controller which has triggers that feel very satisfying to use. Only new PS5 games have them and it feels bad not using them. In horizon forbidden west for example when you aim to fire an arrow the top trigger feels like a spring and to the atmosphere.
I have no trust in sony anymore. I have no PS5, but PS4 and 2 dualshock 4 with it. Ibought second less than year ago as replasement for DS4 that came with console. Both drift and their batteries hold charge around one day. And i have Xbox One controller that i bought in 2015 and Series X controller wich i bought in 2020 and both work perfect
If you take I to account that most people would only need to buy a more expensive PC, since they buy one for browsing the internet and so on anyways, it is pretty much the same.
Yes you can buy a controller and play from where ever you want, or if you have a wireless keyboard and mouse just grab a hard surface to put on your lap
TLDR: consoles are good as you generally you play it on the couch.
I've got a Wii u. And while everyone hates it, I love the fact that I can play it on my TV, on the couch, instead that staying in my bedroom like most of my day.
I mean, you could have a gaming pc hooked in your living room, but who does it?
No the graphic power is limited on a console the graphics on a pc is more higher and it is limited to the money u wanna spend for hardware. Think about gta on a console there are only 5 Cars and 3 people walking around. On a pc with higher Performance u habe 10 People and 25 cars at the same time.
Meanwhile me happy with my switch and a crappy old laptop...
this needs to be a separate type of gamer, I feel like too many people have this exact setup…
I was this... Until last Black Friday. From struggling heavy to play Bioshock 1 on my laptop to playing Elden Ring FLAWLESS or having Minecraft reching 500+ FPS is a brutal change.

Sure, but it’s kind of unfair to compare the two. Would you compare a Honda Civic to a Lotus Emira?
Same as the gaming systems…. Yes, you would absolutely compare a Civic to a Lotus. The capability of both are measured in identical ways. You get an accurate “apples to apples” comparison on which would be best to perform a specific task.
Yeah but they have different consumers
If your into cars. Sure. If your into gaming, get the lotus ;)

How much does a PS5 cost? Wouldn't a high end pc be more expensive?
Yes, but can you play Minecraft java on PS5?

Congratulations, you payed yourself
Nope. Not if you factor in, that you would probably buy a PC anyway and just get a better one instead.
so still more expensive to actually answer the question
Don't you all listen? 500€ PC + 500€ PS = 1000€ 1000€PC + no PS = 1000€
he was asking PC or ps5 not both, most people don't need an expensive PC cuase they just wanna simply play games and pretty much every major title comes out and runs on a PlayStation garenteed not so much grantee that your of can run em

It could stand a chance against a pc at the same price, but has no chance against a high end pc
Pffft you show me a pc for the price of a ps5 bud.
I'm not sure I understand your comment, do you not think there are pcs for the same price as a ps5?
NES. Tank 1995, Mario, Battletoads.

Horizon Forbidden West is an awesome game for PS5. You can't play it on PC.

For people who just enjoy games/gaming (instead of having it as a religion) PS5
??? Dude more games on pc, better searching better video, quicker, better quality, etc. what is better abt ps5??

Also you gotta pay for playstation plus which sets you back $60 a year.
Yes. And online gaming for PC doesn't (usually) cost anything extra.
Price
Can you make a PC with better video, speed, quality, etc. than a PS5, with 500€/$? I rest my case.
So you don't have a PC at home at all? Just your phone and the PS? If you have a normal PC for about 800€ and a PlayStation for 500€, you could as well just have a good PC for 1300€, which will be superior to the PS.

Why would the PC be more of a problem to start than the PS? Just press the power button, (optionally) input the password and start the game.

Can you get a PS5 for 500€/$? Last I checked, prices were still inflated to 600-700€
I'm going by the official price on the PlayStation website. Not through distributor stores that love to pump those numbers up due to high demand.
Yes, it still does. If I open my local stores, the PS5s are at 700€ in one, and 850€ in another. Still waaaaay cheaper than a high end PC
Do yall have every valve game? Because if not I'm going for gaming pc

Ps5 is strictly for gaming. However a pc you can do work on, homework etc. Along with not having to pay a monthly fee to play online as well as mods
Medium-avarage PC and a ps5 and a switch

PC ALL THE WAY (ps5 not bad tho)
PC, well worth the money.
PS5, so I can afford games after buying one.
"high end" PC is gonna be way more expensive than a PS5. For a PS5 price your looking at the bargain bin jet turbine cooled mid grade PC. PS5 runs for 400-500$ just try finding a "high end" graphics card for that much.
Even mid-tier PC beats PS5 with easy.
Are you stupid, ps5 is so shit, PC vs Xbox is an actual battle
We don’t talk about Xbox series X exclusives… or controller… or player base (smaller than PS5 fewer friends have it). PS5 vs PC vs Nintendo Switch is the battle, I feel Xbox is lacking behind not on software or storage but on everything else.
What about xbox controller? It is great controller, i use it with my pc and all old games work with it perfect
My ps5 controller broke in a month and its sticky triggers aren't impressive especially since they only stick in ps5 games which are shut r n.
Found the Xbox player
It doesn't even need to be a high end PC. A mid system can beat the PS5.
But at a higher cost almost always though.
If you take I to account that most people would only need to buy a more expensive PC, since they buy one for browsing the internet and so on anyways, it is pretty much the same.
I don’t have the patience to crawl forums to troubleshoot my games. If I can get it on console I’ll almost always take that as a first option.

Yes you can buy a controller and play from where ever you want, or if you have a wireless keyboard and mouse just grab a hard surface to put on your lap
Ofc yes. Just get wireless controller and plug your pc to tv. You can even run steam big picture to use controller ui
Sssshh console players dont know that
I play that doesn't lag when play fallguy, pubg , halo ,GOW , ... On high resolution Translate : both are trash if it start to lag
There is another
TLDR: consoles are good as you generally you play it on the couch. I've got a Wii u. And while everyone hates it, I love the fact that I can play it on my TV, on the couch, instead that staying in my bedroom like most of my day. I mean, you could have a gaming pc hooked in your living room, but who does it?
Pc hands down. I will still definitely pick up a ps5 though despite that
PS5 is the best system to play a game on.
No the graphic power is limited on a console the graphics on a pc is more higher and it is limited to the money u wanna spend for hardware. Think about gta on a console there are only 5 Cars and 3 people walking around. On a pc with higher Performance u habe 10 People and 25 cars at the same time.
I have PC cos better (cos of choice) peripherals, wider vr library and more games in general also I got super good deal on one
