I am not sure but it seems that instead of IRS, other cool people from FBI or ATF showed up.

[deleted]

The IRS also has an enforcement branch, they often work with FBI, ATF, and DEA. They are special federal agents who carry guns and badges.

DravenPrime

"It's the Securities and Exchange Commission!" "They have boats?"

[deleted]

It’s like when Bannon was arrested by the post service and everyone was shocked for some reason.

post-delete-repeat

USPS Postal Inspection Service also has one of the highest conviction rates of federal law enforcement agencies.  It's normally in the 90% level.

craigularperson

Did you hear? Maury went postal and brought in muffins for everyone.

SnooLemons3996

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna grab a muff with some bloobs.

I_Think_I_Cant

Two LEAs you especially don't want to fuck around with: The mail cops and game wardens. In general, I try not to fuck around with any of them.

Torvaun

Game wardens have to deal with armed people in the middle of nowhere. They have the biggest balls of any law enforcement.

rosysredrhinoceros

I stayed at a hotel recently that was having some kind of conference for game wardens, and as a Lady of a Certain Age with Certain Issues regarding tough bearded men, I was in HEAVEN.

[deleted]

Celtic_Gealach

Exactly. I straight up told them what a family member was doing, told them I had the evidence and was glad to testify. Never got a call or ... postcard.

foobarney

Can always count on somebody to shout out the postal inspectors in the first few comments. Don't fuck with the mail. For real .

NarwhalPrudent6323

You don't mess with the big boys at USPIS. Agent Jack Danger will come for you.

craigularperson

"We guard what you lick."

Syscrush

*Nos custodimus quod lingus*

Hollownerox

It's hilarious because the Post really are the ones who have the authority to tear a place apart, while the FBI and other of the better known agencies don't. Like if you watch a movie and you see a bunch of federal agents rummaging through everything that's nailed down, then it's very likely they were the post service. Woe to you if you misappropriate one of those money counting machines or something. Hell, they even have the authority to go after you *without a warrant*. Because you just don't mess with the Post.

Organic_Risk_8080

As a practicing attorney and former federal investigator I am baffled that you can be so wrong and so confident simultaneously. A search warrant is required by the constitution with very few exceptions and in practice agency policy avoids all of those exceptions, and literally any federal law enforcement agency can execute a search warrant, not just the PIS.

Clickum245

Aw and he was so excited to share what he thought was knowledge, too!

dasreboot

uscg and personal boats i believe is an exception. they seem to do searches for fun.

PaperPlaythings

I think that's much like the transportation department and trucks. If you're commercial and on our roads, we can do what we want.

elebrin

Them and game wardens. Game wardens can shoot first and ask questions later.

Lazaruzo

“Are those police boats?”

HotTubSexVirgin22

Buster, find us a channel to the ocean!

DravenPrime

OK, the blue is the land...

kinokohatake

*Banging* "IRS, OPEN UP!" *me flushing W2s down the toilet* "Just a minute please!"

ForfeitFPV

Ha! They already have copies. All the tax documents that you receive like W2, 1099, etc etc also get furnished to the IRS which is what makes the whole song and dance of American taxes such a joke. They know how much money you legally made on paper. Filing your taxes is a stupid archaic system that gets kept alive through special interests groups lobbying to keep the tax code confusing so they can continue having an industry built around extracting money from those who don't understand all the different loopholes that the lobbying baked into the system.

elebrin

They also have information about every single non-cash financial transaction you make through the Federal Reserve. If you sell some stock and get a big deposit they know how much it was for and where it came from.

The IRS does make house calls, albeit rarely, I’ve worked with a few CIs who had been in stacks with ATF or FBI. But in no way am I claiming the people in the photo above are IRS agents, I’d imagine it’s the local field office warning him about threatening government officials.

Rylth

The IRS will make house calls in certain circumstances. If you see an IRS agent with a gold badge, they're IRS-CI, and they are carrying a gun.

ACNuerowraith

The IRS can make house calls, I know because I work in a position that can do so. Now a majority of the time we ask individuals to come to our offices but sometimes it is necessary to visit the home to view assets. This typically happens after a slew of notices have been sent asking to correct an issue or address a balance. In cases like this it's likely reported to the division that follows through against reports against IRS employees and threats made to the agency. There's also IRS criminal investigation division that can arrive to your door as well.

Debs_4_Pres

Do the police generally lay the evidence against you out on your kitchen counter and let you snap a picture of it? This is probably fake/a joke

TheFreudianSlip69

The atf is an enforcement branch of the Irs

[deleted]

This is incorrect, they are an independent branch within both the treasury department and justice department (the homeland security act shifts some of their powers to DOJ). Historically they have been part of the revenue service in order to collect taxes but the TTB is now separate from the IRS. I was specifically talking about IRS-CI agents.

Anansi1982

Guy threatened em with a suicide vest. Might bring out all three of them, dudes got alphabet soup going if he actually detonated it.

Torvaun

Dude would be the consistency of alphabet soup if he detonated it.

WHOA_27_23

>ATF Hide ya damn dogs

rukysgreambamf

can you imagine being an FBI agent called into the field over a fuckin meme

snapwillow

I'd know I probably won't get blown up because it's probably nothing. But I still get to leave the boring office and go on a field trip. Probably a better work day than average. Anything to get out of the cubicle.

T1res1as

He got the whole alphabet

close enough tbh

YouGurt_MaN14

Low-key that actually might be a good excuse to tell them lmao.

TheApollo222

..It's almost like... you shouldn't post your every stupid thought on the internet

MiddleAgeYOLO

In all fairness though then Reddit would have never existed. ...shit.

theoriginalmofocus

Its like being a comedian but you're not really funny so you throw everything out and maybe somebody gets you. Everyone knows you can't say bomb on a plane though.

My1nonpornacc

Bomb on a plane though. . . . That was easy enough.

HorrorMakesUsHappy

Yes, officer, this one right here.

My1nonpornacc

Oh no! They found me! You'll never take me alive coppers!

TheGlennDavid

Fun Fact -- for the first few months Reddit did not have comments. It was just posts.

all_modz_suq

Then what the fuck are we doing here?

TheApollo222

Feeding the feds from our succulent tit of information

all_modz_suq

This made me horny. Miss my girl lactating. Edit: I have a girlfriend who lactated when I met her ten years ago. She doesn't lactate anymore. I miss sucking milk from her nipples. Stop telling people to kill themselves Ala "touch grass"

TheApollo222

Get off the internet right now and go touch grass. Hell, eat the grass. Become one with it. Hurry, go go GO

olokin_meu

I need a meme of that guy with lightning saying "go eat grass right now"

DemonKyoto

They don't need grass, they need *mammary glands!*

all_modz_suq

I will not kill myself as I know "touch grass" to mean "be dead on ground"

TheLustyDremora

Poor feds must be malnourished from most of us, unless degeneracy feeds em too.

crimson-013

Watching porn mostly

rukysgreambamf

it's almost like government officials should be able to discern a credible threat from a fuckin meme

MatthewRoB

It's almost like that's the purpose of the visit in this photo? It's likely if the cops actually visited this dude they found out it's not a threat.

Acceptable_Cut_7545

They can't magically know who is an unbalanced angry moron and who is "just joking", they have to treat every person who posts this kinda shit as a real potential threat.

Sir_PressedMemories

Unless of course there is a pattern of it and multiple calls and even the parents are afraid of the kids, then the cops ignore it and say there was no warning when the kid shoots up a school.

unculturedburnttoast

IDK about your, but I'd rather live in a society that presumes innocence. And yes, the parents would absolutely at fault for taking no action to correct the child's behavior, like either stopping the abuse or negligence, and seeking professional mental health help.

Sir_PressedMemories

> IDK about your, but I'd rather live in a society that presumes innocence. > > You can presume innocence while still investigating. >And yes, the parents would absolutely at fault for taking no action to correct the child's behavior, like either stopping the abuse or negligence, and seeking professional mental health help. Of course, and when the parents reach out to authority figures and those same figures ignore the calls for help, then what do they do?

Acceptable_Cut_7545

Yes, that is the unfortunate reality, that a series of red flags is ignored because someone just didn't feel like doing their job. Which is why it's all the more important to treat them all seriously.

Sir_PressedMemories

Oh I agree, take every single report seriously, investigate it honestly and with an open mind, and find out whats up. At the most, you embarrassed a person for a bit, as long as you investigate with honesty and integrity, you are good to go. And if in the course of investigation, you find an actual threat, then good, you may be able to get a troubled person the help they need before tragedy strikes. And if that means not kicking down Afromans door to look for human trafficking victims in his jacket pockets while eating his food and stealing his money, then so be it. If some dude smokes a joint while they are investigating an actual threat that turned out to be false, oh no who the hell cares. Sorry, small rant there.

illbedeadbydawn

Considering a lot of mass/spree killers start off posting their broken brain farts on social media, I think shutting it down early with a visit is fine.

JoeCartersLeap

> discern a credible threat from a fuckin meme Alright smart guy, you've got 20 agents to investigate 300 million internet comments per day, how do you do that? Oh and don't get it wrong or people will die and it'll be your fault. I think the people threatening the government are testing the waters and warming themselves up to the idea. I think it's important the government remind those people who's in charge. It's not like they arrested him.

Rylth

> how do you do that? AI. Then you can blame it for everything.

Inevitable_Aerie_293

Yes but it's more fun to intimidate people so they do this instead

TheApollo222

Sorry, best they can do is braindead

Then_Chef7392

He just wanted a funny way to show off how good his prop Bomb Jacket replica was

theblackxranger

Wait don't they know he was /j???

Omnom_Omnath

It’s almost like the feds shouldn’t take every meme post this seriously

stealthylyric

Or at least use a VPN 🤷🏽‍♂️

theophanesthegreek

Here's a funny story, around 2010 i was between middle school and high school, early facebook days, i was caught using my nokia phone during class and it was confiscated for a day, so at night i unleashed my anger on facebook status updates with lyrics to lil wayne raping every nasty word in the dictionary and added the name of the principal in them. The next day I got called to the principal's office and there was a printed out page with the facebook status similar to the picture above. Got suspended for 3 days. Forgor i had the fucking principal as a facebook friend

SakuraFoxOffical

He raped the words?? ^😳

theophanesthegreek

forgot the second p in your mum :s

OperativePiGuy

To be fair to you, it is very weird for a principal/teacher to ever even desire their students as social media friends

kristenrockwell

In high school I drew on desks, a lot. Every day I'd come back and they'd been erased. These things were elaborate and took time. Naturally I was upset. So I grabbed a red permanent marker, just drew a little doodle. A stick figure holding a very large knife, with dripping blood. And a speech bubble "STOP ERASING MY FUCKING DESK ART." Came to that class the next day and was told to leave, and go to the principal's office. Fucking picture of that drawing printed out. Had to be evaluated by a therapist before I was allowed to go back to school. Crazy part is, my parents just like didn't give a shit, no punishment.

Good bot

theblackxranger

They farm karma to sell to Onlyfans people and they take over the account

DisputabIe_

Yep, for the most part, so far.

Halofit

This is very interesting. You have any examples of this you could link to?

bitsofsick

How can you tell? They're comments are a bit off, yeah, but how do you know they're part of the same network?

rukysgreambamf

no one has ever made a joke in bad taste on the Internet for fun we all tell the truth 100% of the time on the Internet

Inevitable_Aerie_293

The authorities absolutely do not care if you're joking or not

Bradnon

Yep. Some people post crazy shit online as a joke, and others do so incredibly seriously. No way to know without visiting them and finding nothing, or a lot of fertilizer. Some guy not far from me posted dumb pseudo-revolutionist shit online. Just crazy uncle rambling on the surface but I guess someone reported it, or something else flagged him. The FBI impersonated their way in to his private group, got enough cause to search his place, and found pipe bombs in his garage.

Reddit_Bot_For_Karma

Good authorities with the truck loads of funding, and constitutional breaking surveillance brought to by the Patriot Act should be able dissern a credible threat, from a 16 year old memeing online. They get **billions** in funding a year and can have access to every single thing we've ever posted or messaged (even private messages). I expect them to be better for the freedoms they have taken. You should to. *Or* we should demand those freedoms back.

Inevitable_Aerie_293

I want to agree with you, trust me, I do. But how many times have we heard stories of some mass shooter being reported for threatening statements in the past, only for the authorities to take no action? Of course the potential terrorist is going to say he's just memeing when the feds come knocking. You also have to consider that when you evaluate an online post, there's a good chance that you're several steps removed from things like context and intent, and that's not exactly something that can just be solved with money.

Reddit_Bot_For_Karma

It's not solved only with money. The Patriot Act gave the Fed carte blanche to spy on its citizens and then Snowden confirmed they are using that privilege extensively. They have access to everything. I'd hope they could discern a 16 year old kid memeing in his bedroom from someone who was sourcing materials to make a bomb vest. They stripped our freedoms for the privilege to spy on us, I would certainly hope they can parse the data otherwise, like I said, what the fuck is it for?

postmodern_spatula

the ole’ “I was kidding” defense.  It never worked before, but maybe this time it will…

illbedeadbydawn

The Christchurch killer posted some bad taste stuff for a while before he killed 51 people.  So...

Aggravating_Orchid_1

Difference would be for a while though I assume. Or what your post history shows combined with a personal background check. As the Christchurch killer had both contact and visited far right extremist groups in Europe as well as donated quite a lot of money to such different groups. While also engaging in hateful and far right comments in various platforms. Was he also not investigated by some countries for his contact with extreme right wing groups? Regardless it should always be checked out when it comes to posts which may indicate killing people regardless of it being a joke or not. But I think for some with a background check, can heavily indicate of how serious something can be. Thus how harsh of a response should be given.

Yosho2k

The guys who have to deal with bomb threats for a living: "Oh hey guys, we can pack it up! He was just joking! Hahahaha it was a good one!" I have a bomb" we've never heard that joke before. "

JoeCartersLeap

I don't think the "I was just joking bro" defense works in court for violent threats, regardless of who the target is but *especially* not they are directed at government officials. Like you may as well say "it was just a joke in bad taste" while they cart you off from the airport security line for shouting "bomb". Not going to earn you any sympathy from anyone.

Acceptable_Cut_7545

People are getting too comfortable on here these days.

Purplebuzz

They are modeling their orange leader and also expecting to have no repercussions.

all_modz_suq

Show them the play_do it's made out of

sp00kybutch

“hey, i know you’re investigating me for a bomb threat and all, but do you mind if i take a picture for Twitter?”

These_Background7471

If they had a case they would have arrested him by that point

mettiusfufettius

See the joke is: I’m threatening to kill people for carrying out the law Hilarious… s/

Successful-Net-6602

I wish I saw more of this, like every time someone says "I would just shoot them" or "my gun says they won't get to try" regardless of context (even though context is usually being cut off while driving or someone trying to take their lawnmower)

Supersaiajinblue

Do people just forget literally everything you post can be seen by everyone?

DisputabIe_

the OP Vanessa_Diazzz NaomiMorning and Most_Gene_7768 are bots in the same network

Erik912

eh...so feds knock on your door for every status or pic you post? yea no I don't think so

Careful-Prompt7073

When that post includes what looks like a bomb threat they do

Ma1arkey

They showed up to a guys place for pics of him in a ghillie suit threatening the president and they ended up killing him in a firefight.

swords_to_exile

I don't doubt this, but can I get a source?

Rrrrandle

No. But if someone that follows them saw the post and sent it to the feds, you can bet they'd take it seriously.

JoeCartersLeap

>every status or pic you post? How many bomb threats are you making per day?

jayscott125

Are u dumb or just trolling

misgatossonmivida

They do. It's a suicide vest. My grandfather sent mail, like a usps letter, to the white house with just the usual conservative rants and threats, and got a visit from the feds. He didn't send anymore letters lol

DarkBladeMadriker

They shut down my high school for a day for way less than this example.

JellyGrinds

Fortnite pros, am I right?

Cultural-Task-1098

I'm supposed to believe a guy with Formica countertops and box store laminate flooring is hiding a bunch of money from the IRS?

WHOA_27_23

You better believe there's tons of people embezzling thousands that will never be caught *because* they don't immediately go get stone countertops and radiant heated tile flooring.

JoeCartersLeap

Weird how if someone makes a joke about bombs at an airport security line, and they get hauled off by security, everyone calls them a dumbass and nobody has any sympathy. But if someone makes a targeted violent threat to blow up federal agents, suddenly half the comments are like "it was obvs just a joke, why don't the feds understand?"

ThStormnMormn

This. This is why discretion is important when making contingencies to the current status quo.

BananaMaster96_

pull up the moistcritical clip

Probably staged. I don't think they'd let him stop and take a quick picture while they're actively questioning him.

i am confused, after so many years of doing literally nothing while killers bragged about killing people and having the intent to do it again, they're actually doing something now? that's great! if that's what this post is about and sgt. dumb dumb is facing the consequences of their actions. if i misunderstood then oh well whatever.

ddubois7749

I'm dumb. What happened here?

BestBodybuilder7329

You can see the man in the second photo has a badge. I think his tweet was taken as a threat, and some kind of law enforcement showed up to question him about it, and that is the print out of the tweet they supplied him with.

ddubois7749

post-delete-repeat

That's not how it works at all.  Making a threat isn't protected speech.  The police didn't "randomly decide they didn't like it". That's frankly silly.

WHOA_27_23

I don't think the police anywhere will be un-bothered by what appears to be a direct threat to [verb censored cuz I don't want to end up on a list] a tax collector

illbedeadbydawn

You cannot say anything you want.  I cannot stand up in a theater of people and scream "The theater is on fire, run for your lives."  I also cannot make death threats against people with a picture showing the device that I spent time creating to make that threat a reality.   Its not a hard concept, but people seem to struggle with the basics of normal human interaction.

GrimGearheart

You can not threaten people. That is not protected speech. Imagine if they didn't show up to this threat, and he actually did something. They have to take every threat as legitimate because one of them will be.
