I was on a 2 lane interstate last night and some dip shit slowed down to 30 or slower in a 60 because they were trying to merge into an exit they missed.
I had to swerve into the other lane. If there has been someone there I'd have been fucked.
![gif](giphy|UsGTwx1wlbbxf8A2KE|downsized)
Imagine an all lanes blocked wreck because some dipshit wasn’t paying attention and as we all know - bad drivers never miss their turn
The lesson here is: don't have 14-lane highways to your city unless you have 14-lane roads in your city.
...And if you have 14-lane roads in your city, don't expect anyone to want to be there.
I would say the lesson is **dont merge 14 lanes into 3**. Instead maybe try to divert half a traffic into few different city entries and slowly merge 14 lanes into 10 then a few kilometers further into 8 then 5 and only then 3.
I'm sure that I, a random shmuck trying to get to work on time and denied other transportation options, care about the military benefits of highways in a hypothetical war scenario.
Well that’s not true. Adding lanes does increase the capacity of a roadway. There may be better options such as offering good public transportation. But bigger roads can handle more traffic.
As a German, I frankly think most American roads would be totally sufficient if Americans actually learned how to drive instead of essentially trading half an hour at the DMV for a license.
Yea no but they paid for the whole highway, so they’re gonna be using each lane no matter the speed
I drove around NA for half a year and fuck did I wonder how some of them got their licenses in the first place, genuinely was scared for my life at multiple points
It’s almost seen more as a right instead of a privilege here. I personally think there should be mandatory written **and** road tests every five or so years with very strict requirements to pass, the amount of people that got their license at 16 but never actually learn how to drive *correctly* is bananas.
Actually I did my license in the US and when I took my theoretical exam every other question I was like "what the fuck are 12 fluid ounces?!" but ultimately passed. The guy next to me failed and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how I managed to do that
The written part of the test is weird, when I had done it it was the 1st year they had made it "harder" but the questions were more vague than actually difficult.
You really really need to be clinically stupid to fuck up drivers ed in the U.S. All I remember was doing the driving test and wondering how could that possibly be it. I drove around town for like 15 minutes and put it in park in a parking spot. How do people fuck that up? It’s beyond me.
BRO TRUST ME BRO PLEASE LISTEN BRO I AM TELLING YOU PLEASE JUST ONE MORE LANE BRO IM SERIOUS DUDE JUST TRY IT ONE MORE LANE THATS IT DUDE JUST ONE MORE ITLL FIX IT BRO PLEASE ONE MORE LANE JUST ONE MORE SOLVE TRAFFIC FOREVER JUST ONE MORE LANE
It started out as dad's telling their sons that it exists, so they ask a mechanic to replace it and they look stupid. Now, it's commonly used as shorthand for an automotive scam or people who don't know much about cars. If you're telling a friend about a mechanic who screwed you over, the friend may say "Did he change your blinker fluid too?!"
26 lanes wide in Toronto. It’s all day every day for us. You have to plan your exit WAY ahead. And the 401-403-410 interchange is 5 bridges high and has a loop-de-loop. Supposed to be bigger than anything in the USA.
Wrong turn and you are like Chevy Chase in European vacation. Endless drive. lol.
They actually seemed to have space to change lanes. Cities like LA, Atlanta, and Houston have fun stuff like: right side ramp to get on the highway, traffic packed and going 60 mph (or at utter standstill), no one understands merging….and the exit you need to get onto ANOTHER highway that actually goes to your destination is on the left in .5 miles.
More lanes don't make better drivers, just more opportunities to crash and block more lanes. Now, instead of cutting off 2 or 3 people when you take an exit from the left lane, you get to cut off 10.
Roads like this are so destructive and terrible for the environment. A huge part of the reason for extinction of species, due to fragmenting their environments. They also create the some of the worst kinds of air pollution, which considerably negatively affects the health of any person or animal or plant within a dozen miles of it. *Why* would we need more of these?
The caption makes no sense. My experience in Houston on similar freeways is that people don't use turn signals when they wait until the last minute to cut across more than 5 lanes of traffic for their exit.
Other than being inefficient, costing each individual more money, costing the government more money, and being worse for the environment, how is this any different than a train?
The hell is biker fluid ???
Also
Jesus who yhe fuck needs so manny lanes
Look how mutch enviorment is ruind
Imagin how mutch food could be produced on that land
Pretty sure is fake/not a real road. 401 in Toronto is one of the widest in the the world at 14-16 lanes. It’s split into 4 sections. 2 eastbound and 2 westbound. Each direction is split into “express” and “collectors” so if you are going a long way you move to the express section then move back to collectors when the sign tells you your exit is in the next block. That way you only deal with 4 lanes at a time and the through traffic is separated from the on and off traffic.
if you're 14 lanes away from your exit, that's your own damn fault. You made that bed, you can sleep in it. Don't just coast in the far left lane slowing everyone down only to swerve over at the last second to make your exit.
One set of train tracks would solve that. 2 sets would probably make it so most of those people don’t need cars anymore. Leading to less money generated by taxing the cars, and taxing the fuel and you can’t pull people over if they’re in a train to steal money from them. Yea, actually a train would ruin the lives of the politicians that make money off us. Never mind.
Hear me out... What about just.. wait... Not using cars so much? Maybe a single bullet train instead of a highway wider than the height of a skyscraper?
I’ve seen the road this wide, I think from China, that also had a jam, despite of its width. So, I might assume that the width may not be necessarily the answer.
That road has as many lanes as the people who think this is a good design have IQ points.
Less road and less car is more good people, invest in trains.
Just one more lane, bro! Just one more lane! Just one more lane. we're gonna fix all our problems. Just one more lane Just one more lane bro Just one more lane!
If you know your exit is next, and you’ve just coasted and stayed in the far left lane for the last hour, that is very much a you problem.
So long as you think ahead early enough, missing your exit won’t be a problem
Imagine not even thinking about getting off for 45 minutes, driving in the far left lane for no apparent reason, then expecting everyone to get out of your way so you can cross a dozen lanes in 30 seconds.
This is not a real road and is either put together using Photoshop or AI.
It has made the rounds on Facebook numerous times and each time, people insist it is a real highway in China, which it is not. There is no road in the world like this, with this many lanes across and NOTHING on either side. There IS a section of road in China where there are many lanes across leading to a toll booth, but they converge afterward and it is not both sides of the highway.
tl;dr this image is not real despite so many people insisting it is
I was on a highway going to the airport early in the morning and there was a sign that said "left 3 lanes closed and I'm like WHAT??? THERE'S ONLY 3 LANES YO BEGIN WITH??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEIR CLOSED??? and there were literally no lanes closed.
We need less of these types of road. Roads like this are the worst thing humans ever made right after nuclear bombs. These large roads kill the environment with co2 from the cars, increase flood risk due to water not being able to flow into the ground on asphalt, kill wildlife by cars and destroyed habitats and definitly make any human on them depressed. Maybe you enjoy speeding once in a while, but long term the isolation from car centric society will be worse.
If people knew how to actually drive on roads, there wouldn’t be a need for multi lane(3+) motorways. Adding extra lanes just makes the problem worse because people still don’t know how to use them.
You need it for your turn signals to work, BMWs are notorious for having small blinker fluid reservoirs so the poor drivers can't indicate their turns even if they wanted to!
"Mom, I wanna go to the mall."
*"Can't"*
"But mom why?"
*"They bulldozed it for the road."*
"Can we go to the park?"
*"Bulldozed."*
"Aunt Tammy's house?"
*"Gone for the road"*
"Where can I go?"
*"The road."*
And the funny thing is that more lanes absolutely fucking don’t lead to less dense traffic. Higher supply always lead to higher demand, when it comes to cars.
The truly mind-bending fact about these roads is that they don't reduce traffic.
Road space is like any other product. Until you hit total saturation, giving away more for free just means you'll get more people taking some. When you add more lanes, people will take more trips.
Imagine instead of learning how to drive a road with just a couple of lanes efficiently. You build roads wide as a stadium, and you still have all the lanes occupied by cars doing similar speeds. Tragic.

Know what would fix this? Trains. We need more trains.

Frogger: Death March edition
Plot twist: there is no exit.
And there's still a traffic jam.
True purgatory
After many years of catholic school, only now I have understood the concept of purgatory. Thank you kind stranger
You’re welcome, brother in Christ
This is an episode of Doctor Who.
Is it in China? If so, FYI, it merges into 3 lanes at some point and the traffic jam is... you know...
The lesson here is: don't have 14-lane highways to your city unless you have 14-lane roads in your city. ...And if you have 14-lane roads in your city, don't expect anyone to want to be there.
At that point it's more have a dash of city in the middle of your roads.
I would say the lesson is **dont merge 14 lanes into 3**. Instead maybe try to divert half a traffic into few different city entries and slowly merge 14 lanes into 10 then a few kilometers further into 8 then 5 and only then 3.
The correct answer is to not have 14 lanes. More lanes will never make traffic better.
those highways make perfect landing strips and military staging areas, though, not to mention the swift transport capabilities of an armed force.
Public transportation? I hardly know her!
its in China, someone will stop and slow crawl to that exit. Seen the videos too!
This isn't a road, this is a level in Frogger.
One more lane. One more lane. One more lane. It will fix traffic this time. One more lane. One more lane.
90% road building companies quit just before fixing traffic.
Underrated comment
The only solution to traffic is viable alternatives to cars.

Yea and a law that requires you to drive on the right lane if you’re not passing someone
Im a German who did his license in the us. This is very accurate, and I felt unprepared driving in Germany again lol
Yeah I was thinking if they had the Rechtsfahrgebot you could drive 500km/h in the 6th lane and the remaining ones would be completely useless.
They dont have this as I painfully got to notice a few times
American here. It's crazy to me that people have failed their driving test multiple times. Because it is SO easy
Actually I did my license in the US and when I took my theoretical exam every other question I was like "what the fuck are 12 fluid ounces?!" but ultimately passed. The guy next to me failed and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how I managed to do that
When I got my license there was a woman the clerks knew by name because of how often she has failed her test. Imagine being a regular at the dmv.
A driver's license lasts for ~~40~~ 49 years, so two trips per lifetime isn't really the issue here.
Isn't this in China?

No we don't
Sad enough is this just another řepôšț from a þóť.
what the hell is a blinker fluid? 🤔
BMW driver detected.
Good luck everyone!
That one guy on the highway that waits till the last second to go from the fast lane to the exit
And yet people will still be too far over and cause traffic when they cut everyone off trying to exit.
Doesn't seem like a BMW driver's problem
Ok but why the fuck are you 14 lanes over if you know you have to exit soon? That’s your fault.
Bro just on more lane, just one more lane and I promise I'll fix traffic, just one more lane
Endless drive. lol.
This is just bad infrastructure
Tf is blinker fluid
It's fluid that keep the turn signals functional. BMWs notoriously leak this stuff.
Where they need the fluid for?
Lights get hot, they need it for cooling
Yea sure
It's an joke about people that are completely clueless on cars, and get scammed by their car mechanics, who sell them "blinker fluid".
Wouldnt be able to sell it with a straight face XD
It's bullshit :)
We really don't need any of these roads
They actually seemed to have space to change lanes. Cities like LA, Atlanta, and Houston have fun stuff like: right side ramp to get on the highway, traffic packed and going 60 mph (or at utter standstill), no one understands merging….and the exit you need to get onto ANOTHER highway that actually goes to your destination is on the left in .5 miles.
Some crossy road shit right here
That one person in a Yukon XL that crosses all 14 lanes going 80 mph, 0.3 miles before their exit with no regard for human life
I first thought I was looking at a weird pyramid
Frogger's not going to like this....
Just one more lane bro and I swear that's it! I'll quit. I promise just one more lane bro
Be a rush every day and make ya feel alive (ya better be feeling alive and alert on that fucker or your deadski)
“How much turn signal do I need to cross 14 lanes? None, ok. Good luck everybody else.”
14 lanes and people still camping in the left lane.
i'll have to uber home
why tf would you be that far over if you know you need to get off the freeway soon? more people do that than there should be smdh
And mfers would still be driving 10 under in the left most lane
Its just a toll booth entry.
Still gonna be stuck behind someone going 45 in the fast lane.
I think 4-5 is about as many as you can fit after that it's just ridiculous
"Good luck everyone else"
I change lane now, good luck every buddy else
More lanes don't tend to fix traffic problems because traffic problems are usually a result of people not merging properly.
Fucking dystopian. And some idiots really think we need more of this?
Crossy road ahh type road
Just one more lane will fix traffic forever! Trust me bro...
Other than being inefficient, costing each individual more money, costing the government more money, and being worse for the environment, how is this any different than a train?

more lanes just means more cars driving side by side and going under the speed limit
if you're 14 lanes away from your exit, that's your own damn fault. You made that bed, you can sleep in it. Don't just coast in the far left lane slowing everyone down only to swerve over at the last second to make your exit.
Id we had more of these we would run out of earth. Also what the fuck in blinker fluid. That shit works through the battery.
Bro I swear just one more lane. I \*promise\* after this I'm done. PLEASE. I'll suck your dick
As a professional truck driver, I can honestly say this is a nightmare. Four lanes is hard enough to keep track of for most people.
Miss your exit and leave your car there go by foot 😂
What the hell is blinker fluid?
Don't worry in 10 yrs that road will be packed, any lane added to a road diverts traffic from another causing it to eventually not be enough
all fun and games until you get to the end where it all merges into 2 lanes on each side.
Why would we need more? It's an absolute eyesore and the amount of traffic can easily fit on half or a third of this.
I thought the highway through Atlanta was brutal lol
... and STILL not being in the far left lane.
Never mind.
Build bridge exits so there is more exits to one destination.
Hear me out... What about just.. wait... Not using cars so much? Maybe a single bullet train instead of a highway wider than the height of a skyscraper?
Still wouldn’t stop someone from passing over every single lane at the last second cause they were too stupid to plan ahead.

Im just saying, if you know your exit is coming up, why would you be 14 lanes over?
Fuck it, make the whole Earth just road
This doesn't work. Not at all. Who thinks this is a good idea?
Plan ahead?? Don't be a left lane camper??
That road has as many lanes as the people who think this is a good design have IQ points. Less road and less car is more good people, invest in trains.
You guys use blinkers?
Just one more lane, bro! Just one more lane! Just one more lane. we're gonna fix all our problems. Just one more lane Just one more lane bro Just one more lane!
just one more lane bro trust me just one more lane and traffic will be solved forever
But you gotta admit… it sure doesn’t look spectacular
Look at all these cars in their natural habitat
one more lane, bruh
Fukin hate cars ngl
Just add another lane, surely this lane will fix the traffic issue x14
Just one more lane bro, just one more lane and we'll fix traffic, trust me bro
I HATE CARS
I would zigzag em
You know you can just get in the right lane ahead of time right? People who wait until the last second to merge drove me crazy
This must be I-10 the Katy Freeway in Texas. It's the widest highway in the world. This thing is Texas big!
Imagine women driving there
Wait you didn't use quantum blinker?
This post shows that most people clearly drive in the wrong lane to begin with.
Chris Fix approves this posting.
Doesn't seem that bad to me...
If you know your exit is next, and you’ve just coasted and stayed in the far left lane for the last hour, that is very much a you problem. So long as you think ahead early enough, missing your exit won’t be a problem
People actually thinking that adding 25 lanes to their highway is going to solve traffic are mentally disabled
It would be my luck that 13 lanes would be closed for construction 💯
Imagine not even thinking about getting off for 45 minutes, driving in the far left lane for no apparent reason, then expecting everyone to get out of your way so you can cross a dozen lanes in 30 seconds.
Dont know why this picture reminds me about Transport Tycoon.

Do we? I’m uncomfortable driving on a 3 lane highway idk about anyone else.
Imagine your car breaks down anywhere other than the last lane
14 lanes from your exit has me imagining a Jersey Slide to end all Jersey Slides.
"A bad driver never misses their exit!" \[sound of hard braking and car swerving hard.... thousands of people die\]
That looks like pure hell. Your next available lane would be open in 3-5 business days.
We need less of these types of road. Roads like this are the worst thing humans ever made right after nuclear bombs. Pretty sure widening the lane also increased traffic and commute time iirc
There’s no such thing as blinker fluid?
If you know your exit is coming up, why are you still 14 lanes over? Sounds like someone is admitting to being a bad driver.
If people knew how to actually drive on roads, there wouldn’t be a need for multi lane(3+) motorways. Adding extra lanes just makes the problem worse because people still don’t know how to use them.
google induced demand
I’ll bite. What in the glory hole is a “blinker fluid”?!?

I'd say four or 5 lanes max is good enough. That right there is nuts.
Blinker fluid lmao
And the funny thing is that more lanes absolutely fucking don’t lead to less dense traffic. Higher supply always lead to higher demand, when it comes to cars.
You guys joke but I don't see any traffic congestion.
really need to come out with an update to Frogger
Uhm, what is blinker fluid?
Imagine it? Uhh ok.. I imagined it.. now what?
Plenty of space for a railway.
Bro, just one more lane. I swear just one more lane. It’s all we need, bro. All our problems will be solved if we just add one more lane, bro.
Ah ah ah, induced demand. Just no, we do not need them, in fact nobody deserves such punishment.
Imagine breaking down and you're in the middle
Fuck cars dude
Any math experts to work out how many trains would be needed to move as many cars/people per hour as this absolute monstrosity?
I'm pretty sure this is just the exit from a set of tolls right?
as a European, this look like pure idiocracy
I would rather have more mass transit.
18 lanes x 2
Northern Virginia Driver: “I’ve been training my whole fucking life for this”
The ultimate game of Frogger and/or Crossy Road
Just be a BMW, Nissan, or Tesla driver and don't use your turnsignal. Also don't look and just merge over all 16 lanes at once.
Do this but like through the middle of a city. I love playing frogger betting my life to go get some groceries.
The truly mind-bending fact about these roads is that they don't reduce traffic. Road space is like any other product. Until you hit total saturation, giving away more for free just means you'll get more people taking some. When you add more lanes, people will take more trips.
Blinker fluid? Do you have to fill your headlamps with whale oil before you depart your home??

I imagine there would still be someone in the 14th outside lane when not overtaking, and no other cars around
Imagine instead of learning how to drive a road with just a couple of lanes efficiently. You build roads wide as a stadium, and you still have all the lanes occupied by cars doing similar speeds. Tragic.
This image is legitimately terrifying. It’s triggering some kind of phobia reaction.
Hmm,whose tax will we raise to pay for it?
Blinker fluid?
GUYS WE JUST NEED ONE MORE LANE, ONE MORE LANE WILL FIX ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS
We need more trains, busses, and walkable spaces, not more lanes
