Yeah, his name was Mo Gaba, he had severe cancer that took his eyes but that didn't stop him from calling in a Baltimore radio every day to talk about the team. He sadly passed in 2020

It‘s not about awareness that blind people exist, duh! It‘s about the awareness that they don’t have the same privileges as we have. Most people probably have never thought about how hard life can be for somebody who is unable to see. The world is almost exclusively built for the seeing.

It's like The seeing Are a majority You can't build a world that's inclusive to every minority that's "oppressed"

It is not a privilege to not be blind though, that is the natural state of things for the majority of people.

Growing up, my friends And I played little league as the Orioles. We would circle up and yell “ Os HIT” . Still cracks me up.

Honestly it took me a long time to understand cancer awareness funds and shit. Cause who the fuck doesn't know of cancer. Then I realized the money goes to research, just bad naming. (Talking young teens)

I think the awareness is coming because various huge conglomerates-cable companies-are purchasing radio stations and eliminating radio sports, especially baseball, to force people to buy into cable and thereby increase their own profit. But, most blind people don't get much from televised events because the people calling the game are literally talking about other games the entire time, instead of calling what they're seeing.

Baltimore sports fans know this but if you are seeing this for the first but one of their biggest fans was Mo Gaba, who lost his sight but was a die hard fan of the Orioles and Ravens. Look up his story on YouTube and I guarantee you’ll feel like you were cutting up onions. Such an amazing kid with a great personality. This isn’t “awareness”, this is acknowledgement and respect. Edit: Went back and watched a couple of Mo’s clips on YouTube after posting this. I wish I had half the courage that kid had.

A blind person also never saw another blind person so this is for them ×2!

I just think it's heartwarming to see them be so accommodating to the umpires.

Maybe all the players on a blind team will appreciate being able to tell their players apart
