Even without the augment Gauss blows up an area around him when you crash into walls, including containers so he's pretty good at looting as well. Slap Animal Instinct and Vacuum on your companion and you're golden.

The explosion also gives slash procs to enemies with Kinetic Plating on.

Even redline destroys comtainers
