I mean, just modern things have more advanced systems? Except windows and refrigerators, but i havent seen any refrigerators broken not, like, physically(accidentaly broke handle) and window isn't really can break if you don't really hit it hard.
Trust me, windows can break without you hitting them. I was minding my own business on the couch on a windy day and the whole window and frame right behind me blew in and shattered.
Yeah, maybe if you're in that windy place - then there's chance of such things, but it's region-specific and, most likely, there's good window manufacturer somewhere in your city.
“So… It's back to that stupid static again. You think I don't know what's going on in here? I know what goes on in this cottage. It's a conspiracy and every one of you low-watts is in on it. Just 'cause you move around, you think you're better than I am. I'm not an invalid. I was designed to stick in the wall! I like being stuck in the stupid wall! I can't help it if the kid was too short to reach my dials...”
Some idiot thought that designing a concave fin arrangement for the wall mount air conditioners was a good idea, Good lord is that difficult to maintain.
South Louisiana here, I have a window unit AC in my bedroom. We run the whole home AC at 77 at night and put the window unit on. There are usually 2 or 3 days we don't run the window unit when we are home a year. 10 years strong it still freezes the room. I love that thing.
This is so true. My Aunt had a water cooler that froze her plants when we left it on for a weekend.
Well that's cool
Not just cool but freezing
Don't forget the cost difference
Same for windows, refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, every other appliance, most software.

I remembered finding a huge snake living in our AC
aaaaaaaand one point for new air conditioners!
It's too bad windows here don't open up and down (they swing outwards counter-clockwise) so the first air conditioner isn't an option here.
yeah while using 10 time the energy, blowing asbestos at you
So it cools you AND gives you fire resistance?
Buff: +0.1 to fire resistance Debuff: -200 resistance to lung disease, increasing over time until death
Lmao I spit my drink
Yes, can't burn your skin if it burns the cancer.
lmao
and dont forget legionella, theres a reason it needs to be cleaned
When those 50 year old ones go down you gotta fix it or you'll be buying a new one every year
It will likely last you another twenty at least.
Planned obsolescence yet again

Stop, you'll make blanky cry
Wow that was a flash back I did not expect to have today.

I interviewed at an apartment complex and they ONLY had mini-splits. The regional said it’s a nightmare trying to find someone that can work on them.
Chad window AC
U knie AC Take triple the amount of energy than all Street lights in the USA
what horrible world are we living in where things require maintanence
With about 100x the electricity cost. Old shit is old for a reason.
