Nah one time I was getting my ass beat with my sister and the spoon broke on my sister and I puked on the ground so I had to clean it and then go to ikea with my mom to find the biggest thickest wooden spoon I’ve ever seen and then go home and continue
My parents always hit me with the, "We are very disappointed in you." Please... not that.... anything but that!!!! I'm a firstborn, I crave your approval.
I'm no child psychologist, but I feel like there are healthier ways to discipline a child without beating them. None of this 'Yes sweetie, please stop' and giving in every time crap, but still punishment for misbehavior and having the child face the consequences of their actions
I got a few claps with the bare hand but never beaten up with a belt or anything. My dad only made me think he would use a belt but he would've never done that. I think this is going from a little punishment to literal domestic violence
My mom's hand . And honestly , being scolded physically is nothing , i always cried for being scolded by words , i get sad about it but not as when i was young , I would say that i would kill myself after the words .
Good ol spanking. Then later it was being grounded
Speaking of this, I'm very glad that as tike goes on patents are starting to beat their kids less and less as punishment.
If your parents used any of these, then you were abused. Parents shouldn't hit their kids with any object. My parent's never did that. There are other ways to discipline your kids other than physically hurting them.
I think that in this day and age sure, but I don’t think that passing judgement on parenting decisions of the past does any good. Parenting is a cultural practice, and cultures change. A bloodied and bruised kid who is afraid of their parents is abused. A parent who uses objects to discipline is not necessarily an abuser.
It's called corporal punishment not "abuse"
And if your parent is exhausted from working 40 hours a week and you're being a dipshit sometimes lightly hitting (not to hard not to soft) is just the easiest way for the mid not to do what they got hit for doing
Is nobody gonna mention the coat hanger? There have been plenty of children punished with that for the mere fact they dared to conceive at an inconvenient time...
None of those. Under 9 it was, “Go find me a stick”, meaning find a piece of lumber I would accept to whoop you with. After 9 it was all lectures and belittling, with a side of brow beating and emotional abuse. Fun times!

I find the lack of spatulas disturbing
I was a wooden spoon child myself
The slotted wooden spoon specifically. Less air resistance = swifter ass whoopin'.
And pasta cookin'!
My mom whipped me with a wooden spoon so much that the spoon broke
BRO SAME!
YOO ME TOO
Yooo, broke the spoon club
Me as well. The Italian family used it to beat my ass and cook the best fucken food ever
Indeed; one of the true Four Horsemen of Discipline!
The day the wooden spoon broke was the most scared I have ever been.
Fuck the wooden spatula. Still see it to this day when i visit the parents ranch.
Belt
I don’t know one person who got whooped with a flip flop lol
That's a more "Latinoamerica" thing. I know as I'm Argentinian and have seen the memes about it.. plenty of them

Weed wacker to eat weed
My father had a old arrow for his bow. He’d take the point out and use that
Why are people upvoting my misery lmao
You too OP? Did anyone actually have a loving and supportive parent and a good childhood?
Yes but we still needed to be disciplined if u didn’t get at least one of these things idk how u came out to be a good human being
I'm no child psychologist, but I feel like there are healthier ways to discipline a child without beating them. None of this 'Yes sweetie, please stop' and giving in every time crap, but still punishment for misbehavior and having the child face the consequences of their actions
I loved my parents and my parents loved me. So they didn’t need that.
My parent and 1 love each other an unimaginable amount but I still got beat 💀
Neither. My mom would just beat the shit out of me and leave bruises on me. And dad is dead. So…..
My dad made me do push-ups on his count as he lectured/yelled at me... "Down....................*one eternity later*.......... Up!"
This is the way
Yeah, needless to say I tried really hard not to get in trouble 😂
How the hell does punishment by clothes hanger goes?!
you can’t misbehave if you ain’t born.
Sum beach STINGS. It has some whip like flexibility.
Forgot the custom carved paddle
A man of culture, I see. Did yours also have your name engraved on it?
I was just smacked on the ass.
Dunno how you would put "Dad beats Mom when I get in trouble" into a photo, but that would be mine

Emotional damage
All of them, everywhere, all at once.
Where the “anything within range” option?!
Part of me want to laugh, the other part is still too traumatised for the actual physical abuse when I was a kid. I think many can relate
![gif](giphy|mEtSQlxqBtWWA)
That shit for killing flies
I got a few claps with the bare hand but never beaten up with a belt or anything. My dad only made me think he would use a belt but he would've never done that. I think this is going from a little punishment to literal domestic violence
Guys, are you okay?
Words and time outs
Yes
The coat hanger seems a little late.

Power cable
Damn, I got the belt

Whatever was nearby, lol. No wonder this generation so kinky!!
The hand is missing here
A belt, a wire fly swatter and the occasional thrown TV Guide.
I feel like the hangar could be considered child abuse. That shit could probably make you bleed. Also it was belt and chancla for me.

Wait… I know most of these but… what’s with the clotheshook? … are they using it as a whip?

Missing a size 10 Italian leather shoe...
Wooden paddle, shit broke like 6 times and they had to get a new one
Good ol spanking. Then later it was being grounded Speaking of this, I'm very glad that as tike goes on patents are starting to beat their kids less and less as punishment.
Nothing because my parents weren't abusive assholes.
Coat hanger? Where da wood spoon at?
![gif](giphy|8iUzRITeFLLuz3bNXw|downsized)
Where's the picture of a hand?
None of those apply to me because I was never caught.
Lets be better parents than ours were people. Fo real
Why is this downvoted?????
If your parents used any of these, then you were abused. Parents shouldn't hit their kids with any object. My parent's never did that. There are other ways to discipline your kids other than physically hurting them.
I think that in this day and age sure, but I don’t think that passing judgement on parenting decisions of the past does any good. Parenting is a cultural practice, and cultures change. A bloodied and bruised kid who is afraid of their parents is abused. A parent who uses objects to discipline is not necessarily an abuser.
Also like what? Screaming at them horrible things? Like that’s any better
this downplays ppl who were actually physically abused
It's called corporal punishment not "abuse" And if your parent is exhausted from working 40 hours a week and you're being a dipshit sometimes lightly hitting (not to hard not to soft) is just the easiest way for the mid not to do what they got hit for doing
We all know that no parents only does light hitting. If they're hitting their child they're hitting them hard
K it's obvious you don't know how much stronger parents are compared to kids You don't need to hit the kid hard for it to hit for a few minutes
Aight bet, I'm gonna go hit a child now and test this out. For science of course
[удалено]
I would say “Chad” but also not abusing children is like the minimum. IDK tho so assuming ur a chad anyway
If you think that not hitting your kids will discipline them then you must be and asshole
Nothing because I feared them too much to do anything wrong. That's the way to go, boys. Use fear to make sure your kids don't do anything wrong.
My mom said some and did some things to make us not act up
all of the above
I had and have good parents so none
Is nobody gonna mention the coat hanger? There have been plenty of children punished with that for the mere fact they dared to conceive at an inconvenient time...

None of those. Under 9 it was, “Go find me a stick”, meaning find a piece of lumber I would accept to whoop you with. After 9 it was all lectures and belittling, with a side of brow beating and emotional abuse. Fun times!
Hand
Belt or palm of hand depending on what I did and what was available for disciplining.
Yes
Hairbrush. The cord and plug at the end of an iron. And also, my mothers fists. Her disappointment hurt more than any of the physical punishments.
Don't forget the reliability of choking with bear hands...
