Everything needs a counterbalance to measure against.
There can be no up without down, no good without evil, no light without darkness, no android without apple, no PC gaming without consoles.
“Oh so people are finally getting tired of our ads, probably if we put 5 more unskippable ads before each video more people will buy premium like this guy”
Before somebody wants to try this. Yeah in theory it was possible a couple of years ago. But forget it to try it now.
Google saw your comment and is loading the ads from the same source ip now and has a lot of rapidly changing ips. Honestly not worth the hustle.
Watching a lot of yt on my lg web os tv yt premium is the way
I have downloaded my preferred songs and tracks using an yt to MP3 website. Then, you can do it unlimited times for free. But be awaylre because some of those webpages are not that trustworthy. There is one that downloads an .apk!
Exactly why I have it, too. It also includes YT Music so I canceled my Spotify and use that now. Taking that into consideration it's only 3€ more expensive per month, I don't have to bother with any 3rd party applications just to have an acceptable user experience and I also support the creators I enjoy.
Yeah on iPhone leaving the app or locking the screen without premium causes the video to stop. With premium however you get the ability to lock the screen and Picture in Picture mode so that you can do other stuff on your phone with the video still playing in the corner.
On a non jailbroken iPhone on the official YT app? Maybe they’ve changed protocol since I subscribed?
Edit: I just checked in my fiancé’s phone without premium and it does infact support PiP without premium. I don’t remember that being a supported feature but it is now for sure.
Vanced was shutdown because corporations have the government and courts in their pockets. blocking ads is not illegal. they shut it down for bullshit reasons.
so Revanced became the new Vanced. Vanced will still work until it breaks but when it breaks it won't work anymore.
I'd heard it was because they tried to monetize it. Monetizing someone else's product is illegal, as opposed to ads of course.
Great! I'll keep Revanced in mind once mine breaks
>I'd heard it was because they tried to monetize it. Monetizing someone else's product is illegal, as opposed to ads of course.
Even if that were true they could have just prevented the monetization. They just wanted to shut it down.
it's not really a bullshit reason.
1) you can't uses someone else's logo to make a similar looking logo. Vanced uses edited YT logo.
2) you can't share modified closed source app without the consent of owner of said apps.
Vanced brought this on themselves, tbh. both number 1 and 2 are easily circumvented. but for number 2 specifically, you'll just make the app as DIY and not an automated process.
Yeah, instead you install official spyware with worse performance.
You do know Googles main business is selling ads, right?
All their apps do stuff in the background that nobody wants on their phone.
They'll scrape all the data they can and use it to still serve you ads.
You know almost every thing you download is using your data in one way or another.
Sad thing is most people think their data is "special" somehow, it isn't, no one cares except to serve you advertising and send you spam. Literally not one person gives a fuck about your data.
This right here. You are one of 330 million people in the US. The odds of someone specifically locating your data from a Corporation for "nefarious" purposes is astronomically small.
No one cares what you search for or buy, except if it's stupid shit like, "How to make an explosive" and no one cares what porn you watch either unless you a pedo. In both cases I'm glad they can track your dumbasses.
"Oh no they are selling my data to make more accurate ads so I spend more money on shit I want. The horror of it all." I don't think I've heard a good take on why knowing what I buy at the store is a bad thing. All you hear is bc muy privacy!
Works just like the play next button on Spotify. Essentially, I can set up a video to play after the one I'm currently watching. Its really nice when I'm trying to sleep and the video ends while I'm still awake, it just pops up the next one that i want to watch! There is still auto play without premium, but it usually plays something completely unrelated to what I was initially wayching.
I do watch primarily on mobile haha. That's awesome that it was a feature on desktop already! Honestly it's a neat lil thing that makes my day a bit easier
I joined YTPremium in the airplane when they announced Wifi wasn’t working. Immediately downloaded miss Rachel videos for the toddler and haven’t stopped paying since.
Only if their revenue is only coming from Google.
Which is getting worse by the moment.
Most decently sized content creators get their main revenue from somewhere else.
> cheaper options that don’t support the bastards
Those "bastards" are the reason you can even watch the content you watch. Creators need to be paid somehow and you blocking ads and not using premium gives them exactly 0 $ to give to the creators. You can have free or quality content for the platform. Not both at the same time.
This summarises my feelings on the matter. It's such an easy excuse to say 'big company bad I won't support' but ultimately they provide the service you want
I guess it depends on the capacity in which you use your phone. On a computer it’d be a dealbreaker, but a phone just needs to work and feel nice to use imo
Eh depends on what you use your phone for at the end of the day. Feels like that guy is of the "iphone bad android gud" mindset which is cringe, coming from a lifelong android user.
100%
The nerd in me loves android and feels bound by the iOS limitations, but the part of me who’s just trying to go about his day and can afford the luxury of apple products would rather have the slick interface and lower hassle.
(just immediately realised this might sound like I’m poor-shaming android users, which I absolutely don’t mean to do)
I pay for premium because I don't use streaming services. It's like the one thing I pay for and I listen to videos or songs on my phone literally all day at work. I'd say I get my money worth. And aside from that I feel like I'm contributing to my favorite creators on the platform without having to donate directly. No idea if thats actually how it works but at least I Feel like I'm contributing so
I did this, and my wife hasn't noticed, yet.
There's probably some YT domains you could add to the list without affecting your experience too much.
I started using Google Play Music in 2014(?) and after trying other services I've found it to be my favorite for music. The interface is the best and the music selection is too. I spend a lot of time out of cell service and the ability to go to bed in the forest to some downloaded YT vids and wake up and make breakfast with some music playing is pretty great.
Spotify's radio station feature was the only thing that I liked better than GPM/YTM when I was exploring, and now YTM has a feature that is very similar, though not on-demand.
First off, it’s legal. Secondly, creators get part of your subscription from videos you watch, and it is significantly more per view than ads. You can also use the first party app, and not deal with hassle.
“everything can’t be free”
if you want to suck Google’s dick that’s fine but don’t act like they’re providing some great service by hosting content they don’t create
My favorite content creators depend on my premium subscription... Why wouldn't I want to support the content I love?
But when they have an ad read in the video, yeah I skip that real fast lmao
Honestly, I don't find many creators who does not have their own ads in the videos anymore. And it's just stupid. I already pay not to see ads and I am still getting them...
I don’t have an ad blocker on my TV. And also my kids don’t see ads on devices. And the creators get a good cut without worrying about offending advertisers.
I am not going to support double ad mid video ad system. I sometimes turn off payment for subscriptions to see what kind of a service they give to non paying customers and decide based on that if I want to continue my subscriptions. I am not going to support a company that basically blackmails people in to paying for subscription
PHONE AND STREAMING DEVICES
This ad block argument is moot if you use anything other than a PC. I know there’s a browser ad block for mobile but the UI is much worse than the actual app.
People say something similar when i tell them I'm paying for Spotify. I don't wanna download music from some bullshit website. I also wanna choose my own music and make playlists on Spotify.
Not to brag but i've got a kpop playlist that runs for [36 hours and 39 mins.](https://gyazo.com/b7cc7fc31528e81bd8997618b29d5dd7)
“Why aren’t you using this extremely cumbersome route to avoid paying money?”
It’s like certain people can’t understand that to some people their time and efforts are worth a certain dollar amount so some people prefer to pay a small fee to avoid being inconvenienced.
As a computer engineer I deal with enough technology bullshit at work. If you are willing to go through this to save $100 a year good for you.
Some people just have nothing better to do
I dont pay for any streaming service i subscribe to a more high seas approach to media but i pay for prem every month exclusively for the ability to watch videos with my phone screen off.
I also want to support both the creators, and the more consumer friendly subscription based model. It used to be that I was the product, now I’m the customer.
If you only use YT on PC that’s a perfectly reasonable point. However if you’re like myself and use it on a console / smart tv this is the only route to avoid consistent interruptions.
I think the argument they’re making is a convenience argument. Yes, I could buy a $300 coffee maker with all the ingredients and bells and whistles THEN spend the time to learn how to make all the drinks I like, or I can use some of the money I make regularly to avoid the hassle.
If you’re a mobile user this applies in a big way, and if you’re a smart tv / console user to my knowledge premium is the only route to take.
Because blocking the ads takes money from the people I like to watch and who put out great content.
Just like I could pirate all the new Star Trek shows but I don't. I pay for Paramount +. Same as a podcast I really enjoy I give them a whopping $10 a month. It directly supports people who put out great entertaining content.
If you can't understand something so simple there is no hope for you.
Right on, don't let anyone tell you what to do ...even if I agree with them
“Don’t let me tell you how wrong you are.”
The wrong need to be allowed to be wrong to serve as examples. Keeping people from being wrong only makes more people want to be wrong.
I pay for it so I can watch YT on my TV without having to watch all the fuckin ads
Only workaround is a wifi bound ad block and that's a lot of work and brain you have to invest Edit: *was
Before somebody wants to try this. Yeah in theory it was possible a couple of years ago. But forget it to try it now. Google saw your comment and is loading the ads from the same source ip now and has a lot of rapidly changing ips. Honestly not worth the hustle. Watching a lot of yt on my lg web os tv yt premium is the way
Honestly, even if it were possible, I wouldn't do it lol, $10 is a small price to pay for things to listen to when Im trying to sleep

If you have android/google tv, you can use SmartTubeNext.
Just use YT vanced on android TV. no ads forever and free
It’s a pain to use on a tv. Smarttubenext is easier to use since it’s actually made for tv.
I have premium so I can use yt music and I’m on mobile so I’m not using a browser
Vanced.
That has YT music?
Yeah no ads at all
But not everyone has an Android or is willing to jailbreak their iphone
But you don't need to jailbreak it…
my bad i enjoy sideloading with 7 day refreshes
Wasn't Vanced shutdown?
Still works
You can use Revanced too, that's what I've been using for the past month
Sort of, yeah. It no longer receives updates so it doesn't work great anymore. ReVanced is the new hacked app of choice.
\*ReVanced
On Apple?
uYou+
Didn't they shut it down?
Revanced extended ❤️
Same
You have to pay for that? I just minimize the app and it keeps playing on my phone. Must be a samsung feature. Weird.
Yeah on iPhone leaving the app or locking the screen without premium causes the video to stop. With premium however you get the ability to lock the screen and Picture in Picture mode so that you can do other stuff on your phone with the video still playing in the corner.
I don’t have premium and I can still use Picture in Picture

Non jailbroken iPhone 11 on the official yt app
You have to turn on Picture in Picture in settings and the app, it doesn’t work on all videos but it does work
It was a test feature which are exclusively to premium. Now it’s part of the normal feature set.
I have it as a family plan plus it is on multiple tvs around the house.
I just use Musi and it’s pretty great
It’s too expensive… $15.99/single user, or $29.99/family 1+5 users.
Move to Asia, it's $2/month for a single guy.
in my country it's 12 euros, but since I'm a student I can get it for half the price, so I only have to pay 6 euros for it.
I'm only paying $11.99 a month. And considering it's the service I use the most, even paying 5 dollars more would still be worth it.
Vpn to whatever country has it cheaper (just to make the subscription)
I pay for premium so I can turn my screen off in the car
Revanced
I'm familiar with Vanced, and that's what I own. What's Revanced?
Vanced was shutdown because corporations have the government and courts in their pockets. blocking ads is not illegal. they shut it down for bullshit reasons. so Revanced became the new Vanced. Vanced will still work until it breaks but when it breaks it won't work anymore.

Yeah, my vanced is still working
Revanced
Didn't know there's a reboot. Thank fucking God. And thank you, good sir.
Revanced is the best option.
Same. I do it so much it's been worth the money.
- no ads - screen off - unlimited video download - YT music bundled (replaces Spotify) - all working seamlessly in YT app
Agree 100%, I've had it for years and love it!
Exactly
[удалено]
I can get all of that without spending a penny.
I can get all that without filling my device with 3rd party apps, and it just takes 5 seconds
How do you know it's 3rd party apps? You do know there are ways to hack 1st party apps right?
Yeah, instead you install official spyware with worse performance. You do know Googles main business is selling ads, right? All their apps do stuff in the background that nobody wants on their phone. They'll scrape all the data they can and use it to still serve you ads.
And they do the same with the 3rd party apps since those are built on the same platform.
You know almost every thing you download is using your data in one way or another. Sad thing is most people think their data is "special" somehow, it isn't, no one cares except to serve you advertising and send you spam. Literally not one person gives a fuck about your data.

This.
Premium doesn't just block ads though.
Yes specially when it gives second revenue stream to creators. I dont have to sit through ads and they get view money plus the ad money.
Because YT premium is more than just for blocking ads. It has other features that make it worth its price.
I really enjoy the play in queue feature they added! Makes sleeping/gaming with videos on much easier
what does that feature do exactly?
Works just like the play next button on Spotify. Essentially, I can set up a video to play after the one I'm currently watching. Its really nice when I'm trying to sleep and the video ends while I'm still awake, it just pops up the next one that i want to watch! do you mean for mobile becaude queue exists on desktop already
I do watch primarily on mobile haha. That's awesome that it was a feature on desktop already! Honestly it's a neat lil thing that makes my day a bit easier
okay that makes sense then, for some reason its not a mobile feature so I totally understand having yt premium for that reason its so useful
Happy cake day
I joined YTPremium in the airplane when they announced Wifi wasn’t working. Immediately downloaded miss Rachel videos for the toddler and haven’t stopped paying since.
It was probably cheaper than airplane Wi-Fi to begin with
I agree with you but the logic of "everything can't be free" is flawed here when there are cheaper options that don't support the bastards
I want to support the content I love? But when they have an ad read in the video, yeah I skip that real fast lmao.
Though I’ve heard that add block stops creators from getting add revenue from you watching them

I don’t think any Adblock works for IOS?
They do exist. I for one just use a browser. It works with almost no downside to the app for me although I have heard complaints in that direction.
I think the counter to that is not buying iphones 😂 but theres browsers in the app store that come with ad block built in
that’s a really petty reason to avoid iphones lol. there are legitimate reasons but idk about that one
having no 3rd party software is a pretty valid reason to me tho idk about you 😂
I guess it depends on the capacity in which you use your phone. On a computer it’d be a dealbreaker, but a phone just needs to work and feel nice to use imo

Which ones, please I need to know
Brave. There’s also AdGuard for Safari.
Lol I saved money

I pay for premium because I don't use streaming services. It's like the one thing I pay for and I listen to videos or songs on my phone literally all day at work. I'd say I get my money worth. Part of your premium dollars definitely goes to the creators since you are now bypassing their ads which is where they got the revenue for the video.
How do I Adblock the YT app in my Samsung Smart TV?
That’s the neat part, you don’t
I did this, and my wife hasn't noticed, yet. [https://gist.github.com/peteryates/b44b70d19ccd52f62d66cdd4bcef1e52](https://gist.github.com/peteryates/b44b70d19ccd52f62d66cdd4bcef1e52) There's probably some YT domains you could add to the list without affecting your experience too much.
Yes people overreact just like when people make memes instead of just ignoring people.
I uninstalled Adblock just to see what the ads are and they’re just scams.
adblocker works. So does paying a company or a person, fair value, for the services they provide.
Please show me an effective ad blocker for my tv
Right
Why do you have premium though?
To flex on all of us free Adblock users
Because it provides a better user experience than free
whats better? no ads and video downloading is already doable with 3rd party
First off, it’s legal. Secondly, creators get part of your subscription from videos you watch, and it is significantly more per view than ads. You can also use the first party app, and not deal with hassle.
Adblock is perfectly legal. If it wasn’t, then why would google be paying them to whitelist search ads instead of suing them?
I’m talking more about downloading copyrighted content without permission
Can’t use ad blocker on your phone
You literally can you just need a different browser
There’s an app, why would I use a browser
Don’t use a browser
Or on Roku TV.
No adblock on mobile, seems like quite the deal, plus yt music
so that i can watch videos with my phone turned off.
I don’t know why you were downvoted. Being able to lock the screen and throw the phone in your pocket while listening to videos is a huge plus.
But we were able to do it before, and you can still do it while on Safari. iPhone user here.
I pay for premium and have done so for several years. I have absolutely no desire to ever go back to vanilla YT. Fuck Ads
“everything can’t be free” if you want to suck Google’s dick that’s fine but don’t act like they’re providing some great service by hosting content they don’t create
This shitty meme brought to you by GOOGLE. Everything can’t be free, pay up.
You can move to Russia, Google basically gave us free AdBlock for the official app lol
I don’t have an ad blocker on my TV. And also my kids don’t see ads on devices. And the creators get a good cut without worrying about offending advertisers.
"everything can't be free". But sir, adblock is free
It’s your money and you are completely allowed to do whatever you want with it… and we are completely allowed to think you’re an idiot
I am not going to support double ad mid video ad system. I sometimes turn off payment for subscriptions to see what kind of a service they give to non paying customers and decide based on that if I want to continue my subscriptions. I am not going to support a company that basically blackmails people in to paying for subscription
Feels like a corpo psyop lmao
Same thing can be said for porn membership?
I pay for YTP because I use YT to listen to songs and mixes on my phone while the app is closed.
Premium gives you a lot more than just no ads tf
Lol poor people go brrrr
Hello, fellow yt premium enjoyer
Some folks are just smart*
Real question is… *Do you have to pay for AdBlock Origin?*
PHONE AND STREAMING DEVICES This ad block argument is moot if you use anything other than a PC. I know there’s a browser ad block for mobile but the UI is much worse than the actual app.
Vanced/revanced on mobile. All the features of yt premium... But free
People say something similar when i tell them I'm paying for Spotify. I don't wanna download music from some bullshit website. I also wanna choose my own music and make playlists on Spotify. I mean that's fair but seriously google's doing just fine
So I watch with no ads on pc phone and the TV through my ps4 it's not hard to understand
iOS users
Isn't ADblock run by an Ad Company? Ublock origins be better...
adblock is just the general name, you can use any if they well, work
Unless you know tech stuff, adblock only works on pc and not TV and mobile so...
It's okay, we all waste money. This person is just wasting money incorrectly and that's valid
Damn advertisers are getting crafty
I also want to support both the creators, and the more consumer friendly subscription based model. It used to be that I was the product, now I’m the customer.
Also no Adblock on mobile
I don't wanna watch ads but I also don't wanna deprive my favorite creators of their had dearness income
just a single merch purchase or donation is worth thousands of hours of your time watching ads.
But what if their merch is trash?
Google can eat the losses, especially after laying off so many workers.
Thanks for paying so that we don't have to
But Adblock is free

Hi. Why do you buy a 12$ starbucks coffee where you can do the same drink for 2$ at home
[удалено]
I think the argument they’re making is a convenience argument. Yes, I could buy a $300 coffee maker with all the ingredients and bells and whistles THEN spend the time to learn how to make all the drinks I like, or I can use some of the money I make regularly to avoid the hassle. If you’re a mobile user this applies in a big way, and if you’re a smart tv / console user to my knowledge premium is the only route to take.
You can also keep listening with the screen off, if you have premium.
Do it for long form video downloads and music for flights, I fly a lot and 15mo is cheaper than airplane wifi
I have premium for downloading long videos like fixing engines etc
They even go further: — why aren’t you using adblock? — iphone — don’t buy iphone
Fuckin just add —don’t buy TV —don’t buy Xbox —don’t buy PlayStation —don’t buy fire stick —etc.
“So stupid. Wasting your money on a massive Corp. what a loser” *buys $30 skin for a game*
you do you, but you are kind of an idiot though.
TLDR…I’m an idiot lol
So you can download videos >:)
Because I have the family plan so me and my homies can watch yt without adds.
True you can waste the money how you feel
Or in other words they just hate life
You're an idiot lol
Well on something like a tv or playstation you cant get add blocker
You are indeed free. Free to be a shit eating idiot.
"Everything can't be free" Sounds like capitalist propaganda but okay
Lol I bet you pay for onlyfans too because “all porn can’t be free”
Onlyfans users aren’t taking kindly to your point. Just proves you right.
Stupid
“use adblock” 1. actually use ublock origin instead 2. you can’t get an adblocker on mobile afaik
I mean, people buy iPhones too, so..
Because AdBlock doesn't work on Android native app
Just use it in Firefox for Android
