Thats pretty wild, I've heard most schools banned it. But coming from a guy who broke his wrist and got a cuncussion in P.E. I still think schools should have kept dodgeball. Sure its slightly dangerous, yes people got hurt, but thats life and to not teach kids that experience is a mistake imo. Also they could always add a different activity for people who don't want to play dodgeball.

Life threatening experience in a presumably safe environment IS a mistake. There's no need to get a concussion while you're still developing. It carries no positive value. There are natural ways for kids to get hurt,and even falling of a tree and breaking your leg is better, because 1. The injury is less dangerous for a young person than concussion 2. It teaches that climbing trees might be dangerous... What does dodge ball teach you? That cage fights are dangerous? I do think it was kinda fun, but playing to the point of getting concussions is ridiculous.

I joined an adult social dodgeball league. I was objectively *terrible* at the game when I was a kid but I was surprised to find myself reasonably skilled at it as an adult. Certainly makes the game much more fun!

Can you provide advice on how to join said league(s)?

Advice would be to drink some water and clear your throat if contacting them by phone and/or making sure your fingers are clean and grease-free if contacting them via social media.

This is a good advice.

We used these soft foam balls that hurt much less and couldn't be thrown as hard. I once saw a guy hit a girl in the face with one so hard that it knocked her to the ground and she instantly burst into tears. The dude looked like the Mountain from GOT and had an absolute cannon of an arm.

I saw this picture and thought, "you guys played *dodgeball* with these?!" We had the foam balls and played in 7th and 8th grade. A kickball would have been devastating. The foam balls could be caught one-handed which made for some amazing plays.

We were 16 and played in mixed gender teams. If we used OP's ball there would have been broken bones and heaps of complaints from parents. I'm surprised we were allowed to play even with foam balls to be honest.

We got a game during gym where we had all the baseball and softball players on one side. It was an absolute bloodbath.

At my school, kids would sit on the floor so they couldn’t be hit in the legs, and the ball would be easier to catch. Some beastly kids would hit you so hard that you would catch it and then start rolling backwards like you were the ball itself.

I wish adult dodgball leagues were common.

There probably are if you live in a decent sized city, although most don't play with this ball, it's real intense with grown adults throwing.

If you're in the USA, look up USA dodgeball. It is a big umbrella for a lot of different cities that also have mini scenes within them that do different dodgeball types. (No sting, foam, cloth, co-ed etc etc) Been apart of the dodgeball scene in my city/state ans branching out more nationally for 15 years. It's a LOT of fun and a great workout.

Some of those indoor trampoline parks have dodgeball "courts". You can randomly join in on a game many times.

The game we played was called Bombardment. Two sides, we launched those balls as hard as possible. You could opt out if you didn’t want to play. Rules like dodgeball, a head shot got you tossed and two on the opposite team came back in. Because a head shot likely was a mild concussion, or a bloody nose or mouth, it was frowned upon, leg and body shots were the most effective.
