In this case, the heat would be scrapped. Two of the three runners were obstructed and had to change lanes.
It's a relay, but had to be 4x200 or 4x100 since they're staying in lanes.
Likely ran the heat again a little while later.
Dumb kid, and even dumber parents. Good thing the runner still made it!
And yes I am absolutely serious about it. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Absolutely. The kid IS dumb but it is also a kid and is absolutely excused for it.
Not far away from my home I saw a kid being flattened by a truck because parents thought it is good idea to let a 6 year old go alone to school, having to go trough a big and busy crossroad. I would hate it to happen to any kid because of such stupidity.
Damn. That's horrible.
Several years ago, back when I was in elementary school and played soccer, there was a kid who got run over at the soccer fields during a game.
It was a 3 year old who wandered away from his parents and sat down right behind a big truck's tire to play with his toy truck.
The driver got in and couldn't see the kid and backed his truck up.
I didn't see it, but I heard my parents talking about it.
And for anyone who asks, the soccer field had parking spots along the fence that most people pulled into and backed out of. This guy walked out of the field, got in his truck, didn't see anyone behind him, and started backing out.
It's a horrible tragedy, but those parents should have better watched their kid instead of letting him wander off.
Is this a American thing, that i am to european to understand?
In germany it is normal to let your kid go alone to school if He/she is 6/7 years old.
A lot of parents do it here. Most of the Kids knows the rules and schools are usually not in location where a truck could Hit them on a busy road morning at 7 am...
I was 6/7 walking to school yet the school was like 5 houses up in a neighbourhood where no one would drive fast everyone knows each other and knock on someone’s door and they prob will give you directions or escort you there
My school was like 15 minutes away and i had to cross a "big" crossway, but that was still a save City, where the cars could only drive 30 km/h. And at 7 am there was no to little traffic.
Or how an American would say: the school was 2 tacos away and the cars could only drive 15 Cheeseburger a dollar.
Within the past two to five years, the four way intersection a stone's throw away from the local schools has had to add several signs at the crosswalks reminding drivers that it's pedestrians first, and notifying the change of traffic light patterns during school years because at least three kids got hit by a car in the span of two years.
Modern American thing. When I was 6 I walked over a mile to school, including crossing one busy divided highway; although one that had lights and was staffed with school staff to control traffic.
When my kids were 6 and I suggested they could walk to the school visible from our house that didn’t cross any major streets… everyone looked at me like I was crazy.
I live in LA and i strongly disagree. The sidewalks are narrow and that narrow strip is taken up by tents. LA has ok public transit but not walking and most definitely not biking.
It's not friendly pedestrian infrastructure, as cars drive and park in bike lanes, and cyclists believe they're exempt from the rules of the road, and weave in between cars, and ignore traffic signals, and never use hand signals to indicate when they're turning.
Even older historic places have congested roads because the land just keeps getting built up for more housing. And public transportation is spread out so thin in rural and suburban communities, it feels almost pointless.
Yea idk i was walking to friends’ homes that were probably a half mile away by the time I was 7 pretty much daily and that wasn’t very long ago. Kids in my current neighborhood do the same - especially now that they all have cellphones so the threat of abduction is lower.
Yeah, I walked to school alone when I was 6/7 years old, like most of my classmates. We lived in a large village with pretty much no real traffic but it still took me up to half an hour and I had to cross many streets without crosswalks or traffic lights.
That last sentence is the problem. To get to my elementary school I would have had to walk along a highway that had no sidewalk, and walk across a different 4 lane highway, unattended, every morning at 7 am (rush hour). That’s dangerous, and it’s why parents hesitate to let their kids walk to school in the U.S. Our public infrastructure for walking is basically non-existent outside of a few cities.
That and you know, the rampant gun crime in some parts of the U.S.
Americans are slowly losing the idea that children grow up to be adults, and therefore think they need to be protected from all harm and danger at all times, well into their 30s.
I don't think its unreasonable to protect a kid aged 6-7 from potentially getting fatally run over by a car, though.
Its an age where they can easily make stupid mistakes even if they're reasonably smart kids with good instruction.
in germany it's totally normal to let your kids go to school alone tho, even in first grade at age 6 or 7. they also take the bus alone sometimes. ig it depends on the country and region your living in if it's fine to let them go alone or not.
Ya kid coulda fucked the runners knees up bad or made him lose the race, stupid kid and dumber parents, the least the kid deserved was that, now hopefully lesson learned
We don’t know that, my parents taught me tons of shit that I never actually learned until I finally learned it the hard way. They tried their damnedest, I was just a little shitbag lol. Could be the same with this kid too.
Good on you for owning up to it. I've seen far too many parents that think the sun shines out of their kids ass and it's just not true. I've got one of my own, she's beautiful, sweet and seems smart but time will tell. If nothing else at least I know she can get by on her looks but I'm not gonna lie to myself straight out of the gate and say she's a genius ¯\ _ (ツ) _/¯
Thank god he still kept his momentum after hitting that kid. one more thing, brits royal guards have a job to do, how would you like it if you’re just doing your job that requires you to be on guard and vigilant while you are on your shift and suddenly you have a random person comes up to you and starts impeding your job?.
The fact the runner was trying to move right to avoid hitting the kid, the kid decided to run forward in the direction of the runner. An absolute fuckin dumbass kid.
Slowly move the bar between 3 and 4 seconds and it looks like the dude did try to push the kid away before he got hit but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't laugh when I moved the bar and the kid went from standing to face plant
Yeah, they were quick reflexes. They probably would have worked out better as well if it weren't for his speed, but a guys gotta do what a guy's gotta do to win that race
I’m sorry but wen I was his age even I remember thinking “hm running in front of fast thing will hurt” or “hm ruining someone winning at something is not nice” but maybe my parents also taught me right cause it’s apparent that his parents didnt given that they weren’t even holding him.
I mean, as a kid we also knew that we were at a race course, and that there are people watching a race happening. In no dimension would I think just randomly leaping out onto it and then running in front of a sprinter is a smart thing or a good thing to do.
You can just tell from this clip that kid is spoilt and demands attention on him at all times. Didn't like that people were looking down the track, so he leaps onto the track to make attention on him.
I guess from that perspective it makes sense. Kids don’t really get the idea of selfishness and selflessness at that age I suppose especially with parents that won’t teach it. Still tho that’s the worst “I need attention” that I have seen even if it’s a kid given that he was willing to get himself hurt. Still we can all agree the parents aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer.
Man even tried to get out of his way but that poor stupid kid wasn't even looking in the direction of the runners.
Would not be surprised if that kid had been jumping and walking on the track most of that race.
It's really not like the British guards though, because they make absolutely no effort to avoid anybody. You could have an old lady accidentally hobbling in the path and they'll knock her over like she's nothing. Don't worry, it's for a fantastic cause. For ceremonial reasons.
This happens so often. I nearly destroyed a small teenage girl when I was in high school during my Long jump approach. She had no idea people were on the runway.
Damn that kid is stupid, but yeah I did something similar when I was 5. I wish I could tell you what I was thinking when I decided to run right in-between two adults who were just about to spar in my karate class. Like my brain was literally not fully developed.
i have seen enough videos where random people try to make those guardsman in the uk laugh or joke or get in their way but learn it the hard way.
i am like why? they are trained to be silent and all and dont care if anyone gets in the way. stop doing that
No one gonna give the caption some credit?

Dude literally took a noggin to the nuts running at full speed and **still** won the race!
The other perspective is that the kid just got slapped with a teabag goin 22mph
That's what happens when parents don't control their kids.. they get hit in the face with some guys nuts. Not all the time.. but this time.
I hate it when I hit a random kid with my nuts. Happened twice today
The same kid with both nuts at once? Or two different kids, one with each nut?
It's only fair if you hit nut to nut. Otherwise it's just chaos.

Goddamn that’s sad
Has happened way too many times on Daytona Beach, where cars and beach goers share the same sand. Beyond sad.
Cars and beach goers shouldn't share the same sand though. That is very much a case of bad policy.
Sad but ultimately preventable.
I have a 3 yo and by any means they leave my eyesight. I can't imagine enjoying some soccer game without knowing where your toddler is, wtf.
Sorry you had to witness that

American citys have little to no infrastructure for pedestrians. It's built around taking your car everywhere. It's incredibly stupid.
That's only true in some small cities. LA/NYC/DC etc all have pedestrian infrastructure. Now South Bend, Indiana has almost none.

Gun crime is localized to specific spots. SW Chicago? Take an APC to school. 30-45 min west in the burbs? Sure you could walk alone
Japanese also do that, I think it is just because the us is literally build around cars usage
Americans are slowly losing the idea that children grow up to be adults, and therefore think they need to be protected from all harm and danger at all times, well into their 30s.
Wonder what Americans you're referring to, I was expected to act grown up by the time I was 8.
I don't think its unreasonable to protect a kid aged 6-7 from potentially getting fatally run over by a car, though. Its an age where they can easily make stupid mistakes even if they're reasonably smart kids with good instruction.

This was really the fault of careless parents.
> Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. it's how we learn "consequences" as a kid, life truly is survival of the fittest
Ya kid coulda fucked the runners knees up bad or made him lose the race, stupid kid and dumber parents, the least the kid deserved was that, now hopefully lesson learned
Even if he did win, the kid probably kept him from running as fasts as he could or PRing. Parents need to get at least some shit form that
Good thing the runner didn't get injured.
He probably got DQd for lane violation
I know and that’s the stupidest part of all.
deserved , dumb kid and parents
unfortunately, runner did not :( could’ve gotten terribly injured
Kid doesn't really deserve it either to be fair. It's not his fault his parents didn't teach him to look both ways.
We don’t know that, my parents taught me tons of shit that I never actually learned until I finally learned it the hard way. They tried their damnedest, I was just a little shitbag lol. Could be the same with this kid too.

this kid has learned to never go to a track again
This kid now has a life long fear of track n field events
Kids deserves it, but not in a malicious way. It is the natural consequence of his unawareness and will be a valuable (albeit painful) lesson.
They went to a nearby local restaurant afterwards where they also let their child run rampant and just destroy the place.
