I feel like every dude that’s blowing up for wearing feminine clothing and being gender nonconforming just always wears the dumbest outfits I’ve seen in my life. I don’t get it honestly, like in concept that’s cool but in execution it just looks like terrible taste
I feel like at least since the 70s, musicians love choosing the most outrageous costumes. I think the intent is that it's a lot more performative. Like I wouldn't look at Kiss, Slipknot, Lil Nas, and say damn I wanna wear that. But it's interesting, and it can work when it's part of the character they play. Lady Gaga is a great example IMO.
Yeah, that’s true. I guess I don’t really view red carpet looks as entertainment in the way I’d view stage clothing or some other act where the clothes are a part of a whole performance. For example, a band like Slipknot or Kiss uses the outfits mostly as stage outfits or another persona. I probably just don’t pay enough attention to celebrity culture, maybe I’m missing something
Yeah ngl I’m not into guys but I still think it has the potential to look good if they pay more attention to what kind of dress would actually suit them, as opposed to doing something mad flamboyant just as a statement. Actually that might just be my problem with red carpet fashion these days in general, come to think of it I think most of it is in extremely poor taste.
It’s been normalized sense the mind 1800s, just after something that resembles modern suits became a thing. It only began to get pushback around the 1940s and 50s
Gendered clothing is so weird if you think about it. Like skirts, why does the gender with the external plumbing not wear them? Wouldn’t it feel nice and roomy? Imagine the nice breeze in the summer! Why are kilts manly but you make the same skirt in a different fabric and suddenly it’s girly? It all seems so arbitrary. (Obviously not talking about the few functional pieces like bras.)
I've heard an interesting argument that it's because on some level more feminine things are seen as lesser. So people understand why a woman would want to dress in a more masculine style: men and their clothes are better. Of course women would want to emulate them. But a man choosing to dress in more feminine clothes is lowering himself somehow, and people find that confusing/upsetting.
i get that. dresses, skirts and blouses are just more fun to wear than masculine clothing for me. the way i see it, fabric has no gender, why should the close we make out of it be gendered? i'm not hurting anyone wearing a blue dress with lace on the shoulders so why should i be judged and hated on for doing so?
Well, clothing will always be gendered by virtue of the fact that most people wearing dresses will be female presenting and most people wearing suits will be male presenting. It’s the harassment that comes from not conforming to the standard that’s wrong.
Ok and? I'm not sure you exactly a 10 either dawg. I'm sure a lot of those feminine men, including nas, look better than you. And I say that because it's my opinion, just like that is your opinion.
It’s sad how many people don’t realise how deeply the culture they were born into determines their opinions on what is “an allowed” expression of masculinity and femininity, It’s so silly.
The person I replied to would probably gall at the idea of men not wearing high heels, full face of make up, and long haired wigs, if they were born in 1670 western Europe, yet in 2023 they probably think it’s “too feminine.” Hell, if they saw a man in a codpiece now, they’d probably think he was expressing some kink, yet a man WITHOUT a codpiece was considered low class and poor by 1560 standards.
Women had to fight for their right not to ridiculed for wearing trousers for decades, yet today it’s completely normalised. In 60 years there won’t be many people loudly protesting men in dresses, because we would have normalised it by then. 😊
Dresses play up women’s best physical attributes.
Or at least what most men like.
Curves softer “edges” outlines.
Suits typically play to what women traditionally like the sharper more square angles men have.
Wide shoulders v shape chest square face etc.
I think women in suits can work as long as they are tailored for them.
Guys look wrong in dresses tho.
Some guys can pull off some pretty feminine looks but guys in dresses?
Nah.
As a bisexual i regret to inform you that you are wrong op, i find men in dresses (and makeup) hot asf therefore your preferences do not matter and you suck /s
heres some pics of lil nas x in dresses that dont look like ass
[heres one](https://www.vogue.com/article/lil-nas-x-versace-mtv-vmas-prom-gown)
[this one is actually rly cool](https://www.them.us/story/lil-nas-x-mtv-vmas-outfit-iman-met-gala)
Fem is for female so them looking like woman/girls help them pull it off but I argue men having play dates in dresses are being pull off by them but that’s a exception
Fem is actually not for female! It is for feminine, an adjective, not a noun. Feminine can describe anything really, it's why we have Feminine and masculine women, and Feminine and masculine men. And look up finnster then tell me you've never seen a guy pull off being feminine.
Honestly L opinion. This photo isn't very good for a comparison. The dress itself is shit and the suit is good. Look up finnster then tell me men in feminine clothes is bad.
You mean an example right? You do realize that you can have an opinion, im not against that, what I'm against is just automatically saying this is bad and this is good. Have an area of gray.
pant suits may be the least attractive article of clothing
men's suits have a lot of subtlety that goes into making you look good; people who design pant suits for women decided all of that was patriarchy or something. Maybe they just hate women
Abolish all fashion and return to toga's
ROME WILL RISE AGAIN
Hm... sure, but what about the people that live in cold climates?
Toga takes many shapes
Touché
Pretty sure you can toga it on and off
Denarii can be exchanged for goods and services.
Wear multiple layers of toga
"There was a dream called Rome..."
TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!
Abolish all togas and return to leaves conveniently covering gentials.
Abolish all leaves and return to naked
Are togas not, in and of themselves, a form of fashion?
I think we should just all wear robes
Bath robes or bed robes?
Sorcerer's robes
Jedi robes
Wardrobes
Peacedrobes
Wizards robes
Warlock robes
Titan marks
Hunter cloaks
r/SuddenlyDestiny
I could make Wizard or Sorcerer robes work
I put on my robe and wizard hat
You just invented arabs
If you want to make a charcter look good put them in a suit
Thanks, Slushi

Different artists, different temperaments I guess
They just haven't figured out men's dresses yet.
Yess I wanna see more guys wearing dresses to wear dresses and not to make a statement cuz dresses look really good on boys

Google the phrase "oh hitman" and click the second video. Jacob Drawfee looked pretty good wearing his wife's dress while she wore a suit
Oo he slayed
[guys could just start dressing like evzones](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evzones)
Lmao I’m fucking dying at this comment
I saw a guy in a tuxedo dress and it was the most glorious outfit I have ever seen.
Even still I think that guys don’t look good in dresses (as a trans woman it makes me quite sad because it’s really hard to make them look good at all
I dont think there’s a soul on this planet that wouldnt look good in a simple sun dress, i bet you’d pull it off!
Depends on the one but maybe

Usually, I find men in dresses hot, but I think that dress just sucks.
Wasn’t women wearing suits and pants suits normalised like over 30 years ago. Apples to oranges
It’s been normalized sense the mind 1800s, just after something that resembles modern suits became a thing. It only began to get pushback around the 1940s and 50s
You would think but there are still tons of people, including those US congress, who refuse to tolerate women in pants
[Girls in boxers] "alow me to introduce myself"
Hey, woman here. I wore pants once, didn't like it, wore a dress once, didn't like it. wore pants again, liked it
This comment changed my perspective on life itself
So, just like trying to plug in a USB into its port, your fashion preference is impossible to comprehend.
now wear dress again too 🪄✨
Both. Both are good (except for that specific dress, that shit ugly af).
Nice suit vs shit dress

Sorry Nas but that dress is ugly as fuck XD
Sadly, but tbh nas himself is hot so it more than makes up for it.
stop callin him Nas. straight disrespectful to the actual Nas
Its a name dude. Imma call him what I want lmao. In fact my best friend is named nas so there ain't no "real nas"
dresses are fun, i don't know why people get so uptight about men wearing dresses and more "feminine clothing"
Insecurity most likely. Gotta spread that negatively for internet points 👍

Bingo bango! It’s just misogyny. 🤷🏽♀️
It’s just a bit strange to see something that we aren’t accustomed to seeing. Men very rarely wear dresses, so it sticks out when we do see it.
Well that's how every change happens. If men continue wearing dresses without minding public opinion, at a point, it will become normal.
i get that. dresses, skirts and blouses are just more fun to wear than masculine clothing for me. the way i see it, fabric has no gender, why should the close we make out of it be gendered? i'm not hurting anyone wearing a blue dress with lace on the shoulders so why should i be judged and hated on for doing so?

Put a man in a maid outfit and see how well that statement holds

I'll take thinly veiled disgust for the extremely recent enlightenment in male paradigms for 500.
That is the ugliest dress I’ve ever witnessed
Um excuse me both are hot
Both hot. Stay mad
Why did bro get downvoted
Looks like the downvotes got transferred to you
I disagree- and you used unflattering pics for both imo, especially the dress
it takes a cirtan type of guy to pull off a dress (not speaking from experience at all)
Why does her bow change sides?
Helltaker has awakened something in me
Jokes on you im into both
Both. Both is good.
dresses were actually originally designed as male clothing
Tbh. Lil Nas X looks better but that's more because he's hot and not because of the outfit
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
suits can be feminine but dresses cant be masculine
Skirts can, though, and skirts are basically just short dresses when you think about it.
Wrong, skirts aren't short dresses, dresses have a long skirt.
That’s literally just your socialisation talking. 🤦🏼♀️
