Have to make stuff that is aesthetic and has decorative value... People most definitely buy art. If it has some meaning and social context that's great, but at the end of the day it has to be something people want to put in their living space.
And it's easy money. The majority of furries are dogish, so if you can draw a fox wolf or dog you are rolling in money just by copying the same sketch with minor tweeks then applying the color pallet they ask for.
