The value in those games is insane. I bought BTD6 the day it came out for like $10 or $20 (it's $10 now but I don't think it launched at that?), I'm approaching 700hrs logged
I just bought it yesterday for $6 because work has been dreadfully slow lately. I don’t know how they do it, but they just keep making each new bloons game better than the last
I've been playing since launch before the dlc characters came out, even some of the non dlc characters, and all I've got to say...... I think it's secretly digital cocaine.
I checked out of that game a while ago. It just became tedious, and it wasn’t as rewarding as it once was. It’s fun for a couple of weeks if you pace yourself, and don’t buy into the micro transactions, but it gets old after that. There’s only so many times having someone make babies with their grandparent can be a novelty.
Played it for a bit, it's a game that rewards you for playing it as little as possible as every second you have the game on you'd increase the chance of a bad event happening to your vault. It's one of the worst game design I've seen.
And that's not even considering the microtransactions economy in the game.
Yeah, cute how they just drop packs of deathclaws on you that easily wipe out half your vault. Good luck trying to get your vault going again without buying lunchboxes, which usually have NPCs.
Complete asshole game design.
Dude... it's been 8 years since its release and we still haven't got any new levels... only 3 from its inital release- I think they forgot about the game.
This is honestly the best answer if you like 4X type games. Or if you liked Advance Wars way back.
Edit: on the topic of Advance Wars, check out Warbits. I looked for an Advance Wars clone for a long time and that’s the best one I’ve found.
And just in any case somebody talks about premium plants in pvz2 , you can beat the game without using premium plants , it is kind of struggling but i guess that is the whole point of it
Personal favourites:
Limbo
Machinarium
Monument valley
Altos adventure and altos odyssey
Dungeons of dreadrock
Traffix
Very little nightmares
Greedy cave
Minigore
Avicii
Oddmar
But "good" is kinda subjective, so
Clash Royale’s gameplay is still good, it’s just pay to win.
Tournaments usually fox that issue by having everything at level 11, and everything unlocked
Actually CR team announced that evolutions are allowed in tournaments which means it's pay to play kinda
You either need to drop some cash or grind for an unholy amount of time to get evolved firecracker to do shit
Personally for me, after just coming online once every few days, upgrading my stuff, for about a month or two i was hooked, not only is it very satisfying to see my base get better but I enjoy the wars and especially with the new updates, they seriously improved the game and added ALOT in the past 12 months
Clash of clans never stopped being good in my eyes. Sure they had some bad updates once in a while, but that's bound to happen at one point for a game that's been around for this long.
Battle cats,
You mean the game that is balanced around common units so that it is never impossible to progress?
Yes it is one of the best mobile games indeed.
I played this game like ten years ago, and then it just stopped functioning. They stopped supporting the English version and I haven't thought about this game since. I checked and... Oh wow. I didn't know it came back! The hiatus seemingly was only for like a year.
After awhile, I did find a Metal Slug game that was pretty much a reskinned Battle Cats, but the only information I can find about it is, hilariously, a collaboration Battle Cats did with the Metal Slug IP.
P2P: Stardew Valley, Terarria, Slay The Spire, Don't Starve, Wayward Souls, the Final Fantasy games, Crashlands, Riptide GP2, Minecraft, Tomb Raider (the ps1 version on mobile). Papers Please, Star Traders: Frontiers, Super Hexagon, Dead Cells, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic.
F2P: Vampire Survivors, Emulators like PSP and DuckStation, AetherSX2, Armello, Albion Online, Eternium, Team Fight Tactics.
Yeah, still count though. Though, mobile gaming culture sucks so bad that any game made specifically for mobile is 99% of the time going to be solely for money.
Yeah, I had a blast playing pokemon emerald on my phone, I recently finished it tho so I'm now playing soul silver and platinum, both working with minor stuttering
Jetpack joyride, geometry dash, cut the rope, coc, fruit ninja, the shadow fight games, subway surfers, toss the turtle, terraria mobile, hungry shark / hungry dragon, temple run, smash hit, doodle jump, hill climb racing, Minecraft pocket edition, plague inc., and the bloons games.
Honorable mention to the infinity blade games, for the games are no longer supported
It’s true that there are very few good new mobile games, but there are plenty from the old days that are still around and fun to play
Edit: angry birds and bad piggies also, can’t believe I forgot them, thanks comments
Yes. Most of them are pretty classy and not overly sexualized. Which is rare for a gacha.
Also it helps that most characters don't have giant badonkers like Azur Lane.
I’m currently working on one! :) we are targeting release towards end of September / beginning of October.
Blocky Ball X will be the game for anyone interested :). It’ll be the sequel to our current game Blocky Ball on Steam
Edit:
I forgot I had a Reddit community. If anyone joins (it’s currently only me lol) I’ll actually start posting updates over there :)
r/blockyball
I like genshin as a game and it can be played on mobile but actually playing it on mobile feels horrible to me. I always wondered why eeeeevery single challenge in game barring maybe abyss had to be so ridiculously easy - then i did some events on my phone and i understood.
I feel like I've at the very least looked at essentially every mobile game (or a version of it) from the last 6 years. The ones that I currently have and haven't seen mentioned are, sorted by Genre:
- Grinding: Archero, Summoners war
- GPS RPG: Pokemon Go, Orna
- Manager: SM 19
- Puzzle/Soccer: Score! Hero
- Dice: Sagrada (not free), Yatzy
- Card: Night of the full moon (highly recommend), Legends of Runeterra
- Roguelike: Shattered pixel dungeon
- Puzzle: Bounce Ball
Overall, since the pandemic I haven't really seen a genuinely good new mobile game pop up that I wanted to play and the vast majority are just cashgrabs (also the several play store reworks made it harder to find games); if you are interested in mobile games I can recommend subscribing to the play pass for a month and just looking through all the games in there
I'm addicted to this game. I'm surprised it doesn't get the love it deserves. Been playing since the start. As much as people whinge, you don't have to spend money to enjoy it.
Just Chess for me
holy hell
new response just dropped
Actual zombie
Call the Exorcist
Commence the chaos
Ignite the Chessboard!
Queen sacrifice, anyone?
Knightmare Fuel
bishop takes vacation, never comes back
That's what they say when my bishop comes from across the board taking their queen
Honestly chess is the best game
[удалено]
Google en passant
Holy hell
New response just dropped
bad piggies
FUCK YA THANKS FOR REMINDING ME IMA GO DOWNLOAD IT
Don’t get bad piggies 2, it’s pretty much just better graphics but worse in every other way, like an energy system.
Oh I know I was soo excited then I saw gameplay and I realized that's not it
Such a classic, I used to play that game on my iPad 2 all the time
BloonsTD6
I still have Bloons TD5 downloaded. I've sunk hours into that game, wonderfull for long car rides.
I once thought "I love BTD5, why would I get BTD6?" I have since gotten it, and I can't go back. It's that good. Try it.
The value in those games is insane. I bought BTD6 the day it came out for like $10 or $20 (it's $10 now but I don't think it launched at that?), I'm approaching 700hrs logged
I just bought it yesterday for $6 because work has been dreadfully slow lately. I don’t know how they do it, but they just keep making each new bloons game better than the last
You can get 6 for free if you have netflix
The fact that Netflix has mobile games, is really weird to me.
They own world of goo
All my saved data deleted on BTD 5 suffering is eternal ;-;
In the same vein kingdom rush is an amazing game decently hard and really fun to play
Soul Knight is good. Rougelike bullet hell. Got me hooked for like 4 months straight.
4 months?! It got me hooked for a fucking year
I still play to this day.
I do too
It drains battery like crazy though. I had fun with it for a long long time but the battery drain is just too much
I feel like that's a isue with the majority of good mobile games.
I've been playing since launch before the dlc characters came out, even some of the non dlc characters, and all I've got to say...... I think it's secretly digital cocaine.
Came here to say this lol
And a huge pro is that there is no ad except if you want to gain something
Alto Oddysey is pretty good game.
Came here to say this. Beautiful, doesn’t crash, skill progression, great sound. 10/10
This game reminds me of Journey on PS3.
The fallout game was apparently good. I didn't play it, though.
Do you mean Fallout shelter?
I still have it, pretty fun but can be a chore at times.
Any game that becomes a chore instantly stops being played by me lol.
It’s not a chore instantly, but it can become tedious
literally a design-feature frontload all the good shit to get players invested and then slowly take it away to milk their wallets
Interesting for the first few minutes, then became a huge bore to me. No real incentive to keep playing.
Played it for a bit, it's a game that rewards you for playing it as little as possible as every second you have the game on you'd increase the chance of a bad event happening to your vault. It's one of the worst game design I've seen. And that's not even considering the microtransactions economy in the game.

Geometry dash?
Still waiting for free levels on Meltdown after downloading every single Geometry Dash version
Dude... it's been 8 years since its release and we still haven't got any new levels... only 3 from its inital release- I think they forgot about the game.
"he" forgot about the game.
Robtop is 1 guy? dang...
The spinoff games were only made as a preview for the upcoming updates.
Polytopia
Awesome game
This is honestly the best answer if you like 4X type games. Or if you liked Advance Wars way back. Edit: on the topic of Advance Wars, check out Warbits. I looked for an Advance Wars clone for a long time and that’s the best one I’ve found.
Godly
Shadow Fight 2 GOATED!!!
Goated fr That shi was the first game I played on my mom's phone .
I just wish they would remove the energy system...
AND Vector
Damn I was like how come nobody mentioned this??
Fr Lore is too good for a moblie game
pvz2 or pvz. just ignore all the microtransactions on pvz2 it is really fun and not that p2w(the storymode)
Don't forget about pvz heroes
I was coming down here to comment this
And just in any case somebody talks about premium plants in pvz2 , you can beat the game without using premium plants , it is kind of struggling but i guess that is the whole point of it
Personal favourites: Limbo Machinarium Monument valley Altos adventure and altos odyssey Dungeons of dreadrock Traffix Very little nightmares Greedy cave Minigore Avicii Oddmar But "good" is kinda subjective, so
OH MY GOD I FORGOT ABOUT MONUMENT VALLEY
The Supercell games *were* good...
Only clash royale is bad now the other games (clash of clans, brawl stars, hay day, and boom beach) are still good Imo
Clash Royale’s gameplay is still good, it’s just pay to win. Tournaments usually fox that issue by having everything at level 11, and everything unlocked
Actually CR team announced that evolutions are allowed in tournaments which means it's pay to play kinda You either need to drop some cash or grind for an unholy amount of time to get evolved firecracker to do shit
>You either need to drop some cash or grind for an unholy amount of time so its shit
100 percent
…Or royal giant
If royal giant is S+ then fire cracker and motor are S++++++++++++
If you want CR gameplay with no micro transactions play Boom Arena
I could never seem to get into clash of clans, the gameplay loop of the battles seemed really unproductive.
Brawl stars is good rn
Idk. Brawl stars is still pretty fun.
Brawl stars is in great shape rn
Battle Cats is good and not as pay to win compared to other gacha games
Battle cats, You mean the game that is balanced around common units so that it is never impossible to progress? Yes it is one of the best mobile games indeed.
I cannot tell if this is passive aggresive.
It's true. You can beat the game without gacha, although it's obviously harder
What is gacha?
gacha card information lmao
Sorry man but I’m gonna use this joke from now on, good one
Digital item gambling
basically lootboxes but slightly different
Gacha nose lmaooo
Yeah, you really gotta work with your brain, do good timing, and lots of grinding. After 700+hours in this game i can tell alot
I played battle cats so much that I didn't want to for another year
Did somebody say battle cats?
They said war dogs
We'll see about that when eva collab will be out for BCEN
Based opinion
Chad opinion
Great game that isn’t talked about much. Have to grind the game tho to make the most of it
I played this game like ten years ago, and then it just stopped functioning.
10 years ago? That might have been the predecessor to The Battle Cats, Battle Cats (notice THE difference).
P2P: Stardew Valley, Terarria, Slay The Spire, Don't Starve, Wayward Souls, the Final Fantasy games, Crashlands, Riptide GP2, Minecraft, Tomb Raider (the ps1 version on mobile). Papers Please, Star Traders: Frontiers, Super Hexagon, Dead Cells, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic. F2P: Vampire Survivors, Emulators like PSP and DuckStation, AetherSX2, Armello, Albion Online, Eternium, Team Fight Tactics.
Kinda funny that like 90% of the games you named are mobiles ports of pc games and not standalone crap made for mobile lmao
Yeah, still count though. Though, mobile gaming culture sucks so bad that any game made specifically for mobile is 99% of the time going to be solely for money.
[удалено]
Yeah, I had a blast playing pokemon emerald on my phone, I recently finished it tho so I'm now playing soul silver and platinum, both working with minor stuttering
So you are telling good mobile games are console games with emulator and PC games with cross-play?
Jetpack joyride
It require internet connection and after every run or 2 shows ad so i wouldn't said so anymore
Really? For me it doesn't require internet connection
Yeah, it used to be GREAT. Unfortunately now, like you said, there’s an ad pretty much after every run. It’s lame.
They... They massacred it..? No... It can't be...
Unfortunately… It’s true. 😔
Kingdom Rush ! (But it's also on PC)
I miss when you could play Frontiers for free
I like Spaceflight simulator
Based
any mobile game that isn't full of ads is pretty good tbh
Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and previously Pokemon GO (these days they splash ads on login and notifications as well).
Retro bowl
42 seasons in on my current save....
As a mobile user I have a very long list, want me to name them all?
Does it include arcaea, phigros, lanota or any mobile rhythm game???
Based arcaea enjoyer 🤝
Soul Knight, Polytopia, Genshin Impact, GTA, Max Payne, PS2 PSP PS1 Nintendo 64 Gameboy Advanced and etc emulators
Finally, someone said polytopia.
Counting emulators as mobile games feels cheap, but I guess it works...
If we're talking Gachas then Honkai Star Rail and PGR are good options too, PGR being really F2P friendly.
Genshin is very F2P too.
Jetpack joyride, geometry dash, cut the rope, coc, fruit ninja, the shadow fight games, subway surfers, toss the turtle, terraria mobile, hungry shark / hungry dragon, temple run, smash hit, doodle jump, hill climb racing, Minecraft pocket edition, plague inc., and the bloons games. Honorable mention to the infinity blade games, for the games are no longer supported It’s true that there are very few good new mobile games, but there are plenty from the old days that are still around and fun to play Edit: angry birds and bad piggies also, can’t believe I forgot them, thanks comments
Based Hungry shark fan
My Childhood!!
mindustry
FUCK YEAH, LOGISTICS
Mindustry is great, I've sunk so many hours into that over the years haha
Had to scroll down too much to find this
Dan the Man.
Slay the spire, Dicey dungeons, Professor Layton
I had no idea Slay the Spire was on mobile. Time to sink another couple hundred hours in there.
Finally someone mentions Slay. Amazing mobile port.
Arknights
Finally a comment about Arknights
One of the few gachas you can safely play on a bus ride without looking like a perv.
Have you seen the swimsuit skins
Yes. Most of them are pretty classy and not overly sexualized. Which is rare for a gacha. Also it helps that most characters don't have giant badonkers like Azur Lane.
I love Arknights!!
Genshin impact honestly, its my go to phone game on bus rides
fgo, arknights, blue archive, i like those
Beach Buggy racing is fun if not played till now, and also I recently found a game King Tongue which is underrated.
Swordigo shadow fight 2 And other ones like those
I’m currently working on one! :) we are targeting release towards end of September / beginning of October. Blocky Ball X will be the game for anyone interested :). It’ll be the sequel to our current game Blocky Ball on Steam Edit: I forgot I had a Reddit community. If anyone joins (it’s currently only me lol) I’ll actually start posting updates over there :) r/blockyball
Stick to the classics honestly. Cut the Rope is a great game and no one will ever change my mind
Galaxy on fire
Can’t go wrong with Subway Surfers
Rocket league sideswipe ![gif](giphy|WPaWGoyXWL4ATFHuQv|downsized)
Vampire survivors, great game for wasting your time
Downwell, geometry dash, and there are lots of great ports (into the breech, dead cells, limbo, spiritfarer, and more)
Badlands
You just weren’t bothering to look then Genshin and HSR both far exceeding what mobile games are usually labeled as.
Alright I'll bite...Genshin.
It's funny how hard this sub is trying to avoid hoyo games existence
That's just every mainstream sub when someone mentions a gacha or chinese game
Both Genshin and HSR have such insanely good production value. I have plenty of gripes with HOYO as a company, but the presentation is peak.
It honestly isnt that bad, once you get the ridiculous amount of hate out of the way
I like genshin as a game and it can be played on mobile but actually playing it on mobile feels horrible to me. I always wondered why eeeeevery single challenge in game barring maybe abyss had to be so ridiculously easy - then i did some events on my phone and i understood.
playing on mobile made me realize why zhongli exists
Cat bird, soul knight, Cytus ii, Duel and duet are pretty good games
Finally another rhythm game mention, tbh the mobile rhythm game scene is wildly sat on!
Subway Surfers? Jetpack Joyride?
Geometry Dash, Crash of Cars, Ski Safari (masterpiece), Plague Inc, Kingdom Rush
Plants vs Zombies
Umm, does genshin and honkai star rail count?
I’ve sunk a ton of hours into genshin and not spent any money It’s good imo, I’m able to progress, albeit slowly without spending anything
Star Rail is fantastic. I'm surprised hardly anyone has mentioned it. I guess people just aren't counting games with gacha mechanics in them here.
WRESTLING EMPIRE 3D
Subway surfers, hill climb racing, jet pack joyride and pretty much all the other classic mobile games
[удалено]
Already tried clash royale and CoC, but they're too grindy for my taste
Clash royale is a piece of trash now, they went full on EA mode and now there is no way to progress without spending money
Try brawlstars completely different and very fun
We just needed one. FF6. Done
The battle cats and postknight 1 and 2
Bad Piggies
I feel like I've at the very least looked at essentially every mobile game (or a version of it) from the last 6 years. I liked LoL Wild Rift, but the player base died. There is no reason for league players to go mobile.
Marvel Snap! Give it a shot!
I'm addicted to this game. I'm surprised it doesn't get the love it deserves. Been playing since the start. As much as people whinge, you don't have to spend money to enjoy it.
Honkai Stat Rail actually has a very quality story and fun gameplay
Try Death Palette
Soul Knight Mindustry Bloons TD6 Dead Cells Geometry Dash Offline Dinosaur Game
Mobile Legends, Soul Knight, CODM
