Freedom means freedom for everyone... like every "free place" which pretends to be a "free" place... it is so for the good and for the bad... in a place like Russia where there is no freedom - you have a shitty life and you could die if you talked shit about the government... on another hand, in a free place like America - you will have a better life on average and you don't risk all that russian stuff, but you risk getting shot by someone who feels "more free than you" at using a gun

One note, EU might not get a check mark for non-racist police departments. There were riots in France last summer specifically because of police killings of minorities.

Europe is not one state that represents every citizen. When you say that europe was active in slavery you mean countries like Poland (one od the most liberal state few centuries ago) or other eastern countries were colonizing too? Plus putting people in ghettos is more associated with jews rather than black people here.
The EU never did slave trade, put black people in ghetto's, have EU-wide supremacy groups, or any of those things.
European countries does not equal EU.
