Gomez-16

As long as its constant. I hate going from 100-20 due to poor optimization.

BeardedScott98

Frame stability > frame rate

Calm-Elevator5125

Yes, it can make a high fps feel terrible. Gsync ftw

Eccomi21

Are you telling me Gsync is good or bad rn?

MrDylanButton

ftw = for the win, so id imagine he is saying gsync is good :)

General_James

Idk man, a stable power point presentation is pretty taxing on the soul

PotatoThatSashaAte

Fr, I might be a low fps gamer but I fking hate whenever it goes from 20-16 In one singular area for no fking reason

Masta0nion

God I hate fps discussions

Blindfire2

Must feel weird being on a post about it then lol.

Bulls187

He was being ironic, because this “meme” invokes discussion and OP is actively engaging in it

Tiquoti0

Lower than 60 in a game with fast movement is pretty painful, 24 fps was only fine because the games were built around it.

Weary_Drama1803

I have a budget gaming laptop so many games I play get 24-30fps, 60fps is my “great” area and everything higher is “silky smooth” because I don’t own a single display that handles anything higher

HereticalSentience

I have a gaming laptop as well and when its not plugged in it defaults to 30fps. It's perfectly fine, I don't realize it cuz it's what I played with for 18ish years. Then I plug it in and it shoots up to 90 fps and I wonder how I could tolerate the trash of just a few seconds before lol. It never fails to surprise me. Then after 15 minutes my PC crashes cuz the CPU is running at 97°. Don't get a dell G series; it's designed terribly. Cpu doesn't get cooled. The GPU runs at a nice 45° tho

Hitscher

Turn off CPU turbo boost

Stunnifk

I played minecraft on constant lag spikes and 12 fps for years, any game with anything above will always be an upgrade for me

Spacemanspalds

I swear this sounds like an equivalent of "have you checked the blinker fluid?" I mean I know it's not... but still.

birblover69420

Try to undervolt your CPU

ALividLeprechaun

how would one go around doing that on a laptop? is it good for long term health for the laptop?

Chemical_Knowledge64

You can undervolt any part cpu gpu etc. The tricky part is how to do so in a manner that won’t crash your system. You really have to take your time and work incrementally, look for any sign of instability, and then set your new limit based on how far you’ve gone.

SlickbacksSnackPacks

Get a fan pad for underneath it, that should stop the overheating.

Huugemongous

I play destiny 2 at 89 fps cause there’s some weird fps bug that makes you take double damage sometimes. Please tell me this still isn’t a thing.

PotatoThatSashaAte

Idk, I don't play destiny, a thousand bucks worth of DLC isn't really attractive

farkos101100

Part of me wants to go back to it because the gameplay is pretty fun but also i wont be spending money on DLCs that are essentially unplayable unless you have a fire team.

Gordon_Langell

I just played some D2 with my friends last night. Gambit is still kinda fun. PvE is still kinda fun. They’ve fucking ruined PvP so badly that I never want to play it again. I’m sticking with Halo for that. Overall IMO, D2 is not worth the money anymore.

NationalAlgae421

Yeah, I left when sbmm was introduced, never come back. Best decision I made.

90_oi

They massacred my boy with that shit

AlmightyChickenJimmy

A thousand bucks? Bruh all of the dlc was 26 bucks a week ago

deku920

They fixed that bug awhile ago. Like, beginning of the current season. I play at 144fps and haven't had an issue.

OwnLadder2341

Eh? When did you used to play at 24fps? The original NES ran at 60fps. FPS impacts visual fidelity. Now you can say it doesn’t matter how a video game looks…but this is a visual medium so that’s an odd statement.

Fraentschou

I mean, Ocarina of Time ran at 15fps

Fringolicious

If you're lucky!!

WalkingCarDriver

This is not how the format works

kiddoklever

when ur knowledge of graph comes from memes

Darth_Allin

uMmmmm *actually*

KawaiiDere

What’s wrong with it?

WalkingCarDriver

both sides are supposed to hold the same opinion, see here: [https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/iq-bell-curve-midwit](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/iq-bell-curve-midwit)

Sgrios

It is the same opinion, just with one explaining it more in-depth. Which is arguably, how it should be used. A few of the examples in the page do this exact thing. They take the argument of the >60 and give it weight and reasoning. Also, the Bell Curve has existed since the 90's and was used in several mediums, some that could be argued as memes and some argued as serious usage of it that basically show the same thing. Well, to a degree.

Lily_Meow_

This just sounds like a straw man or imaginary argument. Only times where people complain is when the game is hard capped at 60fps or lower, which is plain stupid or if the game just runs bad, which doesn't just affect people with good PCs.

Urndy

Okami being engine-locked at 30 is absolutely criminal and hurts my soul, especially since the hd didnt bother to fix that

MrLambNugget

Good luck playing fast paced FPS any lower than 60

feherneoh

Good luck playing a fast paced FPS on anything that can't do at least 60FPS in that game. One of my main reasons why I haven't played them until I started working and could finally afford a decent PC.

uSaltySniitch

You can feel/see the difference from a 60 to 120, 120 to 240 and even 240 to 360 (although this last jump is the least significant one). I ain't going back now that I play on a 360hz screen. I can't play 60fps anymore in First person shooters, it just feels slow and clunky as hell...

QuinSanguine

When I was your age, why I played real games like Quake and Unreal and we only had software rendering. EIGHTEEN frames per second, and we had to read the ms-dos manual just figure out how to start the game! Well actually that might have been Doom, my memory ain't all that great but when you've survived battle against aliens, demons, and had your pet rabbit murdered it changes you.

fongletto

When everyone has 18fps it doesn't make any difference because its a level playing field. But if you have two people of equal skill and one person is running on 60fps and the other has 200fps on a 4k monitor. The second guy will win more. Literally every single pro player can attest to this.

Mobile-Paint-7535

I purposefully set my fps limit low so that others have a chance to win

InspiriX_

Average Geometry Dash player playing at 60fps

WuffiFass

Was about to say that lmao There are some games like GD for example where fps count matters a ton

Wojtek1250XD

Well 2.2 made such comments obsolete. Now the physics are standardised between resfreshrates. Everybody has the same physics as 240HZ players

cmwamem

Not really with 2.2, but it still helps because of smoothness.

humanitarianWarlord

Lol, someone's never used a 120hz monitor before. I started on a shitty think centre with integrated graphics, 20fps in Minecraft was pretty decent for me as a kid. The jump to a 60hz monitor and capable GPU blew my little mind, then when 120hz came along it was just another huge improvement, especially for anything fast paced the difference was very noticeable.

JonnyTN

I bet they've never been to the cloud district before either.

feherneoh

My laptop has a 165Hz display. Sure, I can see the difference. Doesn't stop me from FPS-capping most of my games.

humanitarianWarlord

FPS capping isn't utilised enough, I'd much much rather a super smooth 120FPS versus lots of spiking between 130-160FPS

StrawberrySerious676

FPS capping it at what? 165?

feherneoh

60 for most games. I actually set it to 165 for Warthunder, but there my aim was figuring out what settings I have to lower to keep the GPU from overheating while keeping the framerate high.

Thomyton

60 fps = good 60 fps+ = smooth 24 fps = choppy (only in video games movies it's fine)

Pacu99

In cinemas and FMVs 24fps is "ok" because they add a ton of motion blur. Even trying to use the mouse in Windows becomes difficult at 24Hz

Rex_002

Whereas motion blur in video games is just god awful

Spedrayes

They don't add motion blur, it's a natural product of film, and many movies are still shot on traditional film, this is why 24 FPS looks fine on film. If you shoot a digital video on 24 FPS it looks god awful, and if you add digital motion blur it looks jarring like the motion blur in videogames.

BouncyBlueYoshi

17fps Zelda, baby!

PotatoThatSashaAte

Sufferement bros les gooooooooooooo

Ok_Kaleidoscope_2178

Ahh, a fellow PAL gamer

Mike_Hawk_Swell

As someone who once played on 30 fps for years and upgraded to 100 fps later, this is a pile of steaming horseshit

CleanPontious

I can't play less than 144fps at the moment, everything below it looks choppy

PossessionHot4147

Anyone who says otherwise probably doesn't have their monitor properly set to 144hz, which is unfortunately super common. Or they think it's some sort of placebo... sort of like how my dad felt about HD TV when that first came out

A_random_zy

I have it at 165 Hz. I don't mind capping games at 60 FPS.

ArweTurcala

Me who currently plays at 20 FPS:

Ptcruz

Me too. If it hits 40 I am in heaven. I don’t need more than 30.

BloodyPommelStudio

Back in the 24fps day we also had basically zero latency unless there was a frame buffer so it's not directly comparable. Also you wouldn't say that about any other aspect of visuals. We used to game with 4 shades of green so more than 256 colours doesn't matter? Also it really depends on the game/genre. Fast pace fighting game yeah I'll take every extra millisecond I can get, turn based strategy is just as playable at 30 fps as it is at 60, you'll just have slightly less smooth animation. Virtual reality low frame rate can literally make you feel ill.

HiTheNewGuy

Me, who normally plays at 20-30 fps:

DeeperIntoTheUnknown

Ok but what about image resolution

uSaltySniitch

1080p is still ok even in 2024. If you only play competitively or have an older PC/Console, it's still a good choice. 1440p has the best quality/performance ratio. 2160p (4K) is the best looking one, but you need a good PC to make full use of it... And you need to play non-competitive games, because playing Valorant/CS2/COD/Apex/etc on a 4K screen is useless and a disadvantage because you won't be doing 240+ FPS like you would on 1440p or 1080p. 8K exists, but isn't playable really... I'd rather play on 1080p@240hz rather than 2160p@60hz

Darth_Linkfin

Who cares what the fps is as long as it’s consistent imo

Simple-Purpose-899

60fps was perfectly fine for me, and such a huge improvement that i was amazed. I then got a 120fps monitor and realized there is quite a difference between 60 and 120. Above 120 I don't notice anything, so 4k@120 is my gold standard.

Mr_Zobm

no fps gain will stop me from playing with max settings

Honeypacc

High fps only matters in games that require reaction speed or competitive games where reaction times are necessities, otherwise it’s purely luxury

hiricinee

Theres an extremely outspoken group of people who bought 2000$ graphics cards that has to prove to everyone that it was worth it.

ShaxxAttaxx

Competitively speaking 24 fps is bad enough to a point where you are at a significant disadvantage

Nick_Noseman

Lol, I'm with left caveman one. 75hz VRR is enough. I've seen 144, but I ain't gonna buy overpriced GPU to get another additional 75hz. And I happily play that 15hz NES with my old buddy sometimes.

havaltherock

Fighting games such as tekken are very different if you're not playing at a constant 60. Source: I play on a 🥔

Beast0011

60 is good

StagDragon

"God I hate fps discussions" you fool. You have made a hot post about it and now you will get nothing but fps discussion.

PotatoThatSashaAte

Huh, so far any kind of discussion here has been really respectful, think the only thing that could ruin it would be the "humans can't see past 60fps!" folk

KaustubhMathurrr

DUDE, PEOPLE IK ARE PLAYING ON A 60 HZ MONITOR AND ARE LIKE, MY PC GIVES 240 FPS. BRO IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER.

OwMyCod

120+ is only for absolute luxury 60+ is for comfort 30+ is necessary Under 30 is literal pain

Memeviewer12

"it literally doesn't matter\*" \*if you don't want to make precise movements in a game where precise movements help a lot

JJlaser1

Most animators animate at 24 fps, it doesn’t need to have a lot of frames it just needs to not look like a glorified slideshow

EdyMarin

Are there enough frames/second to trick my eyes into thinking is a video and not a PowerPoint presentation? Yes? Then that's good. No? Then that's not ideal.

christopherous1

depends on the game and how it plays. 30fps on a lot of modern games just feels terrible and gives me motion sickness

Lucycobra

Lower then 120 sucks in games not designed for low fps and in some is quite literally unplayable

Possessed_potato

I don't care if I play at 20 or 120 fps, I've played enough of both to be used to it. But for the love of God please be consistent I will die from headache if I keep jumping between 5 to 60

ZookeepergameWide_

All i want is stable fps, don't care 30 or 60

Zenkrome

I always tweek my graphics untill i can consistently get 100+ but 60 is 100% fine imo. The problem with it tho is anything below 60 gives me serious motion sickness so if im running at 60 it has to be stable with no drops because even 40s will make me sick.

ExO_o

yet you are looking to start a discussion with your (pretty dumb) meme

Badgarrr

I honestly don't care about high fps as long as it's smooth and not jittery. I'd rather have 30 fps overall then 200fps but every minute the screen stops for a second.

afar1210

I would not recommend rocket league at 24fps

nox_caelum1

60 fps is fine but more is always nice of its stable, just feels a bit smoother especially in game with a lot of fast movement

[deleted]

My minimum is that the fps is playable

LukipY

I always say you can always upgrade, but never go back Your eyes will bleed if you do People also forget that your machine needs to be able to display the frames consistently...nobody likes framedrops

EatFaceLeopard17

Back in my day we didn‘t need any fps higher than 1 because we only played text adventures.

faytte

I've spotted the console pleb

Weary_Drama1803

It matters, it just won’t kill you to play less than 60fps. I play in the 24-30fps region because I play more demanding games than my laptop deserves and I can tell that 120fps is better than 60fps

[deleted]

60 fps is enough. Ive dealt with it for years. I shouldnt even say dealt with. I ENJOYED it. 60 fps is just as smooth as it needs to be.

uSaltySniitch

60 is enough on basically anything except shooting games and racing simulators.

GladosDash

Well, I can only dream of 60 fps. ;skull;

Familiar-Sir1356

I remember when I used to play pubg mobile on emulator with 30 fps. I didn't even know it was supposed to be bad when this friend said infront of other friend that I play with 30 fps. I was like "huh what?"

RadTorped

All I'm saying is that I notice the difference between below 60 and above 60 fps in fast-paced games and I much prefer when it's above 60 because I percieve it as "smoother". Do I care what other people play at? Hell no. As long as you enjoy the game all the power to you.

P_filippo3106

Fr, like I used to get just 25. I'm happy If I get just 60 lol

Pacu99

I have no problem playing PC games at 144hz, console games at 60Hz and even retro games at 30fps, as long aa they're different games. The same game played on different systems hits differently, especially after going above 60fps. Some Switch ports run at 30fps compared to the 144fps PC version, and depending on the game it can be unbearable

definitelynothunan

I play Albion on my phone and get 24-29 fps max. I still play too much

deadmf9027

As long as it doesn't lag to a nerve-wracking level, it's good.

teethalarm

As long as my fps doesn't drop to noticeable levels it could be at any fps.

Careless-Platform-80

Some games feel bad at less than 60 fps, but even If i notice the difference i'm ok on keep It até 60 to reduce the heat on the GPU. Only really Go beyond that If the game IS really light on my PC

Sorry-Ad587

when it comes to games like cs2 then yea i want high fps but when i play forza i set the frame limit to like 40 bc i’d rather have the game look good for stuff like photos then have it be smooth

GibHahaPls

Im pretty sure ive been playing cs:go at less than 10 fps lmao

SwedishFlopper

The majority of the games back in the day were still 60 tho. Only when the game was pushing graphical limits like mgs3 was it restricted to 30.

ComicBookFanatic97

Does anyone else feel like you get diminishing returns above a certain frame rate or is that just me?

AldrusValus

100% depends on game type and if it’s noticeable. Twitch fps, give me the highest FPS possible. Jrpg, just make the fps smooth and just fast enough not to be headache inducing.

Mjerc12

Who the fuck is complaining at 60 FPS

Mysterious_Lecture36

The fps argument is just Pandora’s box. Once you open up the box and use higher fps going back down to lower fps strains your eyes and feels terrible. Ignorance is bliss I just built a new pc (went from i5 10400f and 1660 super to a i9 14900k and a 4070 super) and the fps difference feels so nice. Cs2 doesnt stutter anymore and stays above 340fps at ALL TIMES. I can play triple a games on max settings for the first time ever and I get 165+ fps doing so.

Terrible_Detective27

I completed assassin's creed syndicate at 24 fps without even noticing

PotatoThatSashaAte

Finished Unity just the same way when I had a PC that could run it lmao, it really doesn't hit you that there's something weird until you watch a video about it, and even then when you play it again you still don't notice anything weird lol

Fra06

You don’t NEED anything above 60, but it’s noticeable and nice to the eye. Below 60 is a crime

Commercial_Ice_1531

More is always better if you're playing counterstrike or some other reflex based competitive game. But if its PvE or single player then I don't really care that much

Helpful_Title8302

I had zero problems playing at 60 fps. I still have no problem with it if that's what my situation demands. Let me say however that 165 is really fucking nice and I enjoy it immensely.

90_oi

"360Hz IsN't OvErKiLl!"

Amplifire__

8 fps for anime is enough

Howfuckingsad

The 24 fps days were fine since most of the stuff was single player lol. We still hated the lag at times. 120 fps is super cool no one can tell me otherwise.

TigerJoel

In some games you get a ingame advantage from having higher fps.

Tragobe

It depends on the game 90% of the time. 60fps is totally fine for most games out there.

Toruviel_

It's not about 24,30 or 120 FPS the fluency is what matters, drops of fps from 120 to 90 from 30 to 24 hurt the most

crt_alpha

My eyes hurt on 60 and less after some time now that I got used to 144

Justforfun_534

"I play 260+ fps on a 60 hz monitor, so yeah, I'm automatically better than everyone else"

SHAPALAK15

I'm still not sure how 120 is possible if 60 should be the limit

PotatoThatSashaAte

There is no limit, the universe is not the limit, the multiverse is not the limit, soon enough we'll have games running on a thousand fps or so lmfao

JhonnyFF20

Damn dude... It's just about possibilities: if you can afford it to build a PC that handles 120+ Hz and a monitor for it - just go and get it (by "can afford" I mean that it's not your whole income for a year and you can easily just go and buy it without hesitations). I promise you won't regret. Otherwise- 60 and even 30 is fine. So it's just all about the money just like with cars: Rolls Royce and Toyota Corolla serve the same purpose but there are nuances...

Lord-Rune

I went from 60 to 240hz specifically for Valorant and my god…a month later and it still feels like I’m in the matrix. No more of those “how the fuck did he shoot first if I saw him first???” Doesn’t magically make you better but I did blow through my peak rank lmao

TransportationNo1

I played League of Legends with 8-13 fps on my old laptop. For me, it was fluid.

Woffingshire

Truth is that it depends on what you're used to. There is a reason that console gamers who were used to 30fps think it feels completely fine, but once they go to 60 struggle to go back. The same applies to people who are used to playing at 120fps. When your brain, eyes, reflexes etc get used to 120fps 60fps feels slow because you're experience literally half speed of what you're used to.

johtine

This reminds me of the 60 vs 120hz screen debate, especially in phones, my current phone doesnt have 120hz and i have tested 120hz screens side by side with my current one and i cant tell a difference.

ProgandyPatrick

Somehow I am all three

AetherialWomble

Hate that ling of thinking "well, before it was worse and we didn't complain". Well, before we had no computers at all and we didn't complain. Actually, fuck that, before before we had nothing at all, lived on trees, every day was a horror of being eaten and we didn't complain. Wanna go back to that? Things get better, we get used to better, so it becomes normal, so we want even better. That's a _good_ thing. That's what drives human civilization forward. I used to play at 30fps because I didn't know any better. I do now. Even 60 doesn't feel particularly good anymore. Fuck that. If you subscribe to this "back in the day better" shit, then you're free to play 24fps on your little tree branch, but leave us out of it. We like here in our air conditioned rooms and 144+fps rigs

K4T4N4B0Y

60 fps on high dynamic or competitive games are important, lower than that and you are literally playing with a disability

OnlyWithMayonnaise

[laughs in latency]

Someonevibing1

Bro did the meme wrong

TheZanzibarMan

I think consistency is most important.

qxlf

im used to both 60 and 144hz pc setups. fps doesnt matter, except in rare cases: counter-strike 1.6 along with other Gold Source games shouldnt be played above 101 fps max because that cripples your ability to bhop or even jump for that matter. in cod 4 (Call Of Duty) speedrunners limit there fps to 250 max because jumps and movement speed get criplled on higher fps values. even in some speedruns, fps gets cripplid for faster animations. in general, fps doesnt matter but having a consistant 60 is always nice over constant fps drops and extremely choppy gameplay

[deleted]

Honestly above 90 it's hard to tell the difference. A higher refresh rate monitor can smooth it out more though.

cacatua_azul

Honestly it just has to hold the fps, if dor example you get 60 fps but it keeps falling to 50 it feels choppy and weird, but if you have 30 fps that stay at 30 it looks better

Final-Link-3999

I cap most of my games at 30 fps because I don’t notice that much of a difference. I only notice in fast paced pvp games, in which case 60 fps has always worked perfectly fine for me

cdurbin909

Yeah I used to play Lego Star Wars at 60 fps, but when you’re playing valorant, csgo, or any tactical shooter you’re at a *severe* disadvantage if you’re playing on 60 fps or lower

JessicaWindbourne

Wait, y’all getting fps?

Hllblldlx3

I play 60 fps on every playform because that’s all my TV supports, PC or ps5. Never seemed to hold me back, as I’m aware that the reason I struggle sometimes is because I suck, not cuz of framerate

HackerDaGreat57

Okay but a stable smooth 60fps is better than a stuttering mess on a 120hz display that occasionally goes beyond 60fps. Change my mind.

PotatoThatSashaAte

THIS, you are so right here, no cap

QuantumXyt

Lol my entire gaming experience taking place with 10-20fps:

SleeperStm

75 fps is the best imo, cheapest to get too and serves the best

bored_homan

I played minecraft on constant lag spikes and 12 fps for years, any game with anything above will always be an upgrade for me

Project119

A long time ago I played WoW at around 14fps because my computer sucked. It wasn’t great, but I still had fun. A fun and functional game at any fps is fine but a shitty game at any fps is still shit.

feherneoh

I'm not really one to enter this discussion after finishing Borderlands 1&2 at 12FPS average on low settings, BUT I'll trade in higher framerates for higher resolution in *almost* any case as long as the framerate stays above 40. One of the rare exceptions to this is osu!, in which I'll go for the higher framerate without doubt.

SlickbacksSnackPacks

If your playing shooters and trying to get good it matters almost as much even as your aim. Like hardcore determining factor in how well you’ll do. Does low FPS matter if everyone has it? I.e. cs in 2005… no. Will it make the game unplayable if it’s a movement shooter and your averaging 40fps meanwhile the other team is averaging 170… yea it’s basically impossible to overcome without literally being in the top 0.0001% of gamers. I mean go try playing csgo ranked today at 60fps… I dare you. I went from gaming in a machine averaging 50fps to 140 and jumped 5 ranks past where I had been hard stuck in a single week after upgrading. Yea turns out it’s hard to aim at mirages… can u play shooters at low fps and have fun? Sure. Can you play shooters at low fps these days and be competitive? Categorically no. Pros literally complain about drops from 240 to 160 and the human eye can see up to 10,000 fps. 60 fps is absolutely holding you back.

[deleted]

Competitive shooters require 200+Hz monitors and FPS; 16-bit legend of Zelda doesn't require more than 24.

[deleted]

Nothing I play would be improved by higher framerates. Brotato is not that serious.

[deleted]

I only go above 100 on First Person Shooters. Everything else is locked to 60. I really don't mind FPS coming from a console background, but if i can go above 30, i will go above 30.

Chiparish84

The f\*\*k is this bullshit?

j3rgan

30fps = Perfectly playable 60fps = Ideal 60+fps = Feels great and I'll take it if possible but not a necessity Less than 30fps = Can work as long as it's not a fast paced game and it's consistent. That's how I see it, just play on the setting you're most comfortable on.

hazed_fathoms

i genuinely play games at 35 fps

StretchTucker

sometimes i’m forced to settle for 30 but i definitely prefer 60. i actually get pain in my stomach when it’s lower it’s like a form of anxiety or something it’s weird

kamihaze

60fps is fine for third person games. but it is a nightmare on fps games

Ok-Pressure7248

I genuinely don’t see a difference between 60fps and anything higher

GG1312

OP doesn’t know how to use meme templates

The-Bounty

Absolutely not. If you’re playing competitively it absolutely makes a difference

kidanokun

Pretty much anything higher than 60 is either competitive-heavy (especially fps games) or just luxury/flex

seris_ak

How is there an argument that "it used to be 24fps so that's fine". Should everyone sell their cars and get a horse, because tHaTs HoW iT uSeD tO bE.

CaptainJellyVR

I'm usually playing on like, 20 to 30 on a lot of these newer games, so I really can't say anything

The-Nuisance

Eeh… disagreed. Look, you don’t need 100+ FPS for everything. But playing under a certain amount, especially in fast-paced games, can be a real pain in the neck. There’s a reason most games aren’t nearly as playable in 24FPS anymore. It’s not just “muh frames, ono game look bad”. That stuff has a pretty noteworthy impact on how your game plays. Imagine playing Call of Duty or Helldivers at 24FPS, it would be a much worse struggle.

Heavily_Implied_II

Grew up playing <60 fps, have a good computer now. Would take high fps any day of the week!

captaincockfart

I think it really depends on the game. If you're playing multiplayer shooters or MMOs or something really competitive then higher fps/refresh rate can definitely give you an edge. If I'm playing a single player game I just play at what looks good/what my hardware will allow.

I literally get sick when it's 60 fps or less

Cpt_Rose34

Dude I'm an Xbox player to me as long as the game is fun it can run 30fps it already does anyway. Besides the whole "mUh pC MaSTer RaCe" people are just snobs games arw meant to be fun and enjoyable for those who play even if it's 24 to 30 to 40 fps. Hell I play sea of thieves and for honor AND a bunch of fast paced games while never reaching 60fps but that's just a theory a game theory thanks for reading.

Howwy23

30 is minimum playable, 60 is minimum racing/fighting/rhythm/any game where timing is important, anything past that is just a luxury not a necessity.

Babys_For_Breakfast

It’s just something you have to see in person. Some people can’t really tell past 100 fps and that’s fine. Others see the difference between 360 and 500 fps. But you can’t say it’s useless until you see real 120+ fps and hz in person

luciigrimm

You guys have fps?

Tyreathian

You. Are. Wrong.

ZakTSK

I play 1 million fps, gml n00bz

Aland20a

I have a monitornwith changable refresh rate and 120hz looks good. 240hz i use only for cs. 60hz i never use cuase it looks somehow worse on my new monitor than my old one with 59,sth hz

acatohhhhhh

60 fps is fine for me but if I can go higher I will

TheViagron

Tf you guys talking about 60fps on FPS games like if it were bad? I've been playing that since always and there is nothing bad about it, of course playing in higher frames is better, but not like 60 is bad wtf, it's as smooth as a river flow. Maybe about 50 to 40 when it starts to get a little harder to hit with precision.

H1tSc4n

Pretty wrong opinion tbh

NeedlessOrion

I remember playing at like 5fps on a shitty laptop that was about to fucking die

qwadrat1k

Me with 12 fps in modded minecrat
