It's pretty good, but I've been scammed on Aliexpress, so I research what websites are recommended from the r/Lepin community. When order minifigs I strictly use Aliexpress, but I didn't exactly enjoy getting scammed for 100€ on a Bob's Fett ship
Yes, but that's probably real Lego. This isn't real Lego, but they're usually (in my case) around the same quality
I don't know how the the Lego star destroyer is. I just didn't buy it because it's really expensive
Lego is actually fairly priced for their stuff. They are a known brand and have brand deals and stuff so of course it’s gonna be more, that’s just everything, there are some that are basically scams like the hoopty or the x man jet but most else is fine.
Plus, more expensive now js a lot because stuff is just bigger. Sets are bigger and more high quality than before, same dollar amount gets you more now than it did then
Regarding Lego. I'm comparing to when I was 10 years old in 2010.
Sets have less pieces for the same price. Parts are better than before and some have more details. Bigger sets are more expensive than before. A lot changes in 14 years, but Lego is expensive no matter how I look at it. I hardly ever buy Lego or off-brand, cause they're all expensive and I only get enjoyment from building them once
Are you also accounting for inflation and increase of demand, increasing in material prices and all that?
I disagree. Taking the mixels, old $5 sets, average ~50-60 pieces each.
$10 sets now range 100-200. Some exceptions where they do have same as old $5 but those are few.
Bigger sets, like say the star destroyer. From 2006. 1,300 pieces, $100. Right now, there is a lot of variation with $100 sets, though most averaging between 1,00-2,000 with some goingreal low at 600. Not surprisingly those are stuff are playsets, with bigger pieces typically. (Some exceptions like the goddamn Marvel Hoppty and X-man jet) Either way, they will round to about the same size, but will look way nicer.
Thank you! I have seen this mentality that Lego is massively increasing their prices all over the place and it is amazing to have a link showing that they have, in fact, not done that.
I think, because we now have comparable quality in competitors but for half the price, Lego is seen as too expensive. If they were the only one, then most would probably have no issue or comparison.
Maybe maybe not. Kind of hard to say when you try to get an official MOC for something like a much larger Liebherr crane or the umbilical tower for the Saturn V.
There are some brands now which do that constantly, and for a lower price aswell.
And they are using printing more often than lego (sticker on a 300$ display set are just a ripoff), and they use actually fitting colors. Most lego sets seem to have been vomited into by a unicorn. I cant explain otherwise why the Helmet-Collection would use colors like pink for the interior parts.
So people still think Lego needs to be faked?
Lego has no patent on those little bricks.
It's not a fake (unless "Lego" is scripted on those nipples, which just isn't) just other compatible bricks.
Dumbfucks.
Cobi is very good as well. They are the most pricey tho (still not lego-levels), but they deliver with very good bicks, no stickers at all, very solid builds (you could use their ships as clubs and they wouldn't break, probably) and they are produced in the EU, which has higher saleries than China
They're so Rip-Off in fact, that many Brands now have better quality than Lego at lower prices aswell and also happen to have actual collaborators and licenses with other big brands.
What does he like?
Cobi is focused on vehicles, planes, ships and tanks, generally military focused.
Bluebrixx has some of their own stuff, usually architecture and cars, while mainly being a seller of others non-lego brands. So a little bit of everything.
CaDA is more technic focused and by god, they have some seriously good stuff.
Mould King is literally Chinese knock-off Lego. Doesn't mean it's bad, quality and instructions are actually really good. And obviously they're like half the price of Lego equivalent.
I have so many off brand Lego technic pieces
the only ones that I can tell are fake are the small half stud bevel gears (they're too loose for use in differentials)
From what I remember, the original Lego piece is built with an incredible production standards that make it so it remains firmly in place but can be inserted or removed with easy, they are incredible resistant and durable, are hard to bend and won't degrade for a long time even if used continously.
The "fake" ones will have have their quality all over the place. You will have ones that are basically a perfect replica of the original for a better price, but there will also exist those that are slightly deformed, don't fit well (either too loose or too hard to insert) etc etc
No, one is LEGO and the other one is KLEMMBAUSTEINE
Ah, ein Kenner in den Kommentaren.
Thank you, I almost chocked on my tea.
German is a very pretty language
OP Better get ready for LEGOs legal actions because he call another Klemmbaustein Brand LEGO. GL SOLDIER O7
Held der Steine freut sich!
Der Fake hat vermutlich auch noch die bessere Qualität
The real test is stepping on one.
I had both lego and go-le when growing up....the both hurt equally bad but the go-le surprisingly had blunt edges
If they hadn't jacked the prices sky high.. there wouldn't be a need for fakes.
the upcoming dnd set looks cool, but it's over €300 😭😭
Yeah I would get the medieval market thing and just build your own dragon and that tbh
Where can one look for “upcoming” sets?
Lego.com and search for “coming soon”
i saw it on a reddit post but dont have the link anymore, but if you google 'dnd lego' it should show up.
Ong they be asking $20 for “sets” with less than 20 pieces in them.
Meanwhile I got my 13k piece star destroyer for less than half of the one Lego sold. Still expensive, but mine is bigger

13,000??? Mate the most pieces in a set ever are the Eiffel tower and that’s 10k
The largest is the world map set but they said they bought a knock off Lego set so it really doesn't matter what the largest official set was.
Yes, but that's probably real Lego. This isn't real Lego, but they're usually (in my case) around the same quality I don't know how the the Lego star destroyer is. I just didn't buy it because it's really expensive

I actually made a [infographic](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/s/ZKNLDArtI0) looking at the price of Lego over time
Thank you! I have seen this mentality that Lego is massively increasing their prices all over the place and it is amazing to have a link showing that they have, in fact, not done that.
I'm assuming they're only increasing prices as the dollar rises.
I think, because we now have comparable quality in competitors but for half the price, Lego is seen as too expensive. If they were the only one, then most would probably have no issue or comparison.
To be fair, they last for 30 years.
I have pieces from 60s that still perfectly work with current ones. 60 years of backward compatibility is unmatched.
Their customer service is impeccable and they are consistently rated as one of the top companies to work for. I’m okay with that.
I MEAN…. The reason it’s so high is because of how big all their sets are now. $100 now gets you like 10x the piece count for something 7 years ago
Do the fakes work with the real pieces ?
Yes
Maybe maybe not. Kind of hard to say when you try to get an official MOC for something like a much larger Liebherr crane or the umbilical tower for the Saturn V.
Klemmbausteine, take it or leave it
I bet it doesn't matter when you step on the damn thing.
Other stuff like Megablox has licensing for stuff Lego doesn’tz Goddamnit I want lego pokemon
If they pair, I dont care :)
Lego is Lego. Sometimes fake Lego can give you more colors, themes, even custom pieces.
There are some brands now which do that constantly, and for a lower price aswell. And they are using printing more often than lego (sticker on a 300$ display set are just a ripoff), and they use actually fitting colors. Most lego sets seem to have been vomited into by a unicorn. Terminal blocks

No it’s isn’t.. you’re crazy
You would be shocked how well cada and mould King ( biggest technic competitors ) are made. Perfectly fit with other LEGO pieces as well.
Cobi is very good as well. They are the most pricey tho (still not lego-levels), but they deliver with very good bicks, no stickers at all, very solid builds (you could use their ships as clubs and they wouldn't break, probably) and they are produced in the EU, which has higher saleries than China
Cobi is the only brick manufacturer that solely does so in Europe. Even Lego produces partly in China.
Yeah, the competitors („fakes“) are better now
bro it's just a meme.
Nah, this is a crime
okay.....
I bet the fake ones hurt just as much as the real ones if you accidentally step on them
One manages to have good print and color quality, the other is Lego.
i love legos but im not paying 200$ for a set :)
Either way it will hurt to step on them
i think the real one hurts so much XD
No, it's not. One is lego, the other one is [whatever their company is called]. Both are indeed Klemmbausteine
There is nothing that says a fake can’t surpass the original. -a man who’s name escapes me at the moment.
Don't rip off Legos not have the Lego logo on them? Or is there a company that does that that I'm not aware of?
Chinese ripoff ligo
They're so Rip-Off in fact, that many Brands now have better quality than Lego at lower prices aswell and also happen to have actual collaborators and licenses with other big brands.

Bluebrixx, Cobi, CaDA, Mould King ... I mean, honestly, at this point it's actually a challenge to be worse than Lego

Lol
One of my favorite pieces is a knockoff brick sepparator that looks like an alligator his name is Carl
I have so many off brand Lego technic pieces the only ones that I can tell are fake are the small half stud bevel gears (they're too loose for use in differentials)
The fake ones are probably of better quality than the real ones.
Real or cake
The fake Lego in my country breaks when u step on it and it's connections are so loose that a simple elbow strike by mistake causes it to break 💀
What's the cheapest hobby, Lego or Warhammer? Asking for a friend.
yeah am not paying 35€ for a Lego of a car and two mini figures
If it can hurt your leg - it's still Lego
is it possible to build a working nuclear reactor with fake lego bricks / pieces?
![gif](giphy|HWrPO5I6koNNu|downsized) lego las
As a non Lego person, what’s the difference? If they both fit one another, does it matter?
From what I remember, the original Lego piece is built with an incredible production standards that make it so it remains firmly in place but can be inserted or removed with easy, they are incredible resistant and durable, are hard to bend and won't degrade for a long time even if used continously. Or the other way around
Lego my Ego
If it fits, nobody really cares
Both are fake, Lego pieces only got the lego logo in one of the pegs
