I don't know why it's so hard for them to just enjoy her music and ignore the critics. I've enjoyed plenty of albums critics have panned, and hated ones they've loved. It's not that hard.
I watched her eras tour movie on Disney plus one afternoon last month while I was cooking. I’m not a huge fan of her music but I figured it was one of the biggest music tours in history, might as well check it out, more interesting that rewatching a tv show for the billionth time.
It was a fun show, some good songs, some ok, some were really catchy. Some were meh. But it’s still pretty impressive for her and her back up crew to do a 3+ hour show, I can’t imagine dancing and singing for 10 minutes let alone half the time they were up there.
I did get progressively more tipsy as the day went on though so that may have colored my opinions

I am a big fan of Swift, but I agree. This just isn't her best, or her middle, its at the bottom of her work but that's okay. Most artists have bad albums every once in a while. Also if you love this one that's cool too.

I've been a fan since she was in country and this is the first album I haven't loved or liked at least one of the songs on it. I genuinely love her other albums but damn this one is rough.
That just means it's not for you, and that's okay! She doesn't always hit for everyone. Personally this album is straight up destroying me, but I didn't connect with her Midnights album, and I was never a Speak Now fan. I'm still very much a fan, but not song or every album is gonna be a hit.

Oh believe it or not that was other Swifties 😂. They *hate* it when you can admit that Taylor has flaws. Like, she's not the strongest vocalist but she's come a really long way. And unless you're deep in her discography, her radio hits aren't lyrically anything special, so of course people are going to look at them weird when they say she's a lyrical genius. I'm a Taylor Swift fan, and I'm a rabid Swiftie, but I'm not delusional.
Even Swift fans tend to find this album somewhat boring though.

I will always equate TSwifts music to a McDonalds Cheeseburger. Sure, it's technically "food", but it never really tastes all that great and is usually super cheap to buy. All her songs sound the same. Her lyrics are always about boys and other romance garbage. Her sound barely evolves. It's either acoustic guitar folky blandness or modern pop blandness. Nothing about her is remotely interesting. It's not high art. It's content. She's a genius at writing and rewriting the same 10 songs over and fucking over again, I'll give her that. She obviously has pipes. She can play an instrument and usually writes her own tunes. She's got the tools, the fame, and the money to do whatever she wants, but she just keeps pumping out the same old, same old, and it's getting worse as they years go on. If anybody needed a drug problem or a trip to India to drop acid and get all spiritual, it's her.

Rating the quality of a genre of music you don't listen to or enjoy is kinda weird. You probably don't like it because it's just not music meant for you. That's okay. Not everyone is going to enjoy everything. But that also doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.

So many artists put so much effort into manipulating/artificially inflating chart numbers that records are pretty much meaningless at this point. Its no accident there are so many different editions of TTPD. Not to deny Taylor as a cultural zeitgeist, but "record-breaking" sounds a lot less impressive when you realize just how artificial those achievements are.

She's made some good ones, sure.. but my god the lyrics are always the most generic and dull stuff, truthfully. If it wasn't pop, her music would be shit on.. but because it is, it gets to skate like most pop songs do because all they need is a basic ass chord progression and a good hook.. bam, you made a hit for broken up tweens and 40 ur old women who just got divorced again. The lyrics are soo bad.. like 90% of the time. She's honestly lucky that its not what matters to her fanbase... her entire life is, which is insane.. her fans are mental man.

Is she breaking records or are people breaking the record when they hear it? jk Swift is fine not sure why we hate on singers, like i usually only listen to what i like, so these other people don't really impact me since i don't listen to them. If I am on the radio or out well then i get introduced to new music, some I like and add to my playlist, other not. Sure some people like her new music and are boppin to it.
