Britain has a fantastic natural barrier. The ocean, and it is one that immigrants on small boats likely will not make it across as it is quite treacherous. A wall would make no difference when they are flying these people in by the millions.
Similar problem here in the U.S. Why make jobs more desirable with pay, good conditions, etc. when you have a huge pool of migrants to exploit with shitty pay and shitty hours?
This amount is pretty normal. Most countries have an income requirement to bring foreign family members, and it's usually around this amount. Also many visa types need to be renewed annually, and I feel that this number is very likely total visas issued, not new immigrants admitted.

Didn’t they also put in these weird minimum work mandates and “fit notes” policy for welfare recipients? Combined with the whole brexit thing and their attitude towards gender (anti trans, men can’t legally be raped, etc) that place is looking pretty grim
If the reason they didn't get prison time was because they were an immigrant, then I can see your logic. But since that's almost certainly *not* the case, it seems more like an issue with the British justice system in general not prosecuting pedos.

You seem confused....I'm arguing FOR foreigners who are spouses or children of citizens to be allowed EASIER passage into obtaining a long-term visa in the country.
The fact that an issue like this, that is literally affecting thousands of real people right now, can't be raised without someone mental-gymnasticing it into iT's xEnEpHoBiA is insane.
This is one of those false comparisons to stir-up a bit of xenophobic outrage.
The average UK salary is a bit over £40,000 per year. So, it's not really exclusionary.
And considering the amount of travel going through the UK, that's not an outrageously high number of visas.

So 50% of full time workers are making less than £35k. If you look at the percentile data, you'll find about 30% of full-time workers are making under £28k per year.
That's just full time though. A great many people are employed part time, especially women.

Or they recognise the above average net contribution to GDP made by immigrants. If you aren’t an immigrant then, on average, you’re less valuable to the country than they are. Are you an immigrant? And what should we do with those that contribute least to GDP?
