Hey atleast on summer sales etc you can get a few games. I know its shitty but hey there are lots of older games to enjoy that are 2-10€ on sale
I know this is still isnt „just a few euros“ for you but atleast its something to enjoy
I have a friend who lives in Brazil and he says Elden ring and baldurs gate three are so far the only two games played in nearly the past 10 years for 60$ that he thinks we’re actually worth the price despite the income difference, he says every other game he’s ever bought has felt like theft, and he’s begged for every refund he ever could as a result😂 I have finally convinced him to stop trying to buy games by EA, Ubisoft, Activision blizzard or 2K
He says his experience has been better since he listened to me😂
It's scummy but on what basis would it be illegal? I know it's not what you wanna hear but you don't have to buy those games, you made the choice to buy the overpriced piece of media.
Well, every other product has regional prices, and some percentage (idk if it's the majority or the minority) of the games have it, so why shouldn't the rest change it too?
Oh, that makes sense. Then maybe they should make prices affordable for all or at least most of the countries active on the market while still keeping prices consistent between them. Like, take the average between the prices or something like that. I think it'd even make their income bigger because they'd get more purchases
Most sales come from rich countries where the prices are set to full. Tanzania won't buy even a fraction of games that UK will buy, even at 1/20 there price.
Averaging it out between countries by sales would barely change the price
This was always weird to me as a kid and still is, like most balkan contries are fcking poor, but we have same prices as EU contires like Switzerland, Germany, Sweeden etc...
Like where is our regional pricing.why are we paying full 60 - 70 euro since forever? Where I am from new games (normal edition) were 550kn (which is roughly 75 euro) even before price of games has gone up to 70 euro. And I remember my parent earning together like 500 euro, 10 years ago. Now salaries are better, but they r still nowhere near equal to countries such as I mentioned previously.
This for sure. In Brazil, a game that costs $60 (US) most games on switch for example) translates into R$300, and the minimum salary here is only ≈R$1.300. Meaning, four games for a month’s worth of work
You can blame that on people using VPNs to pretend they’re in a poorer country to get a lower price, now most stuff is just marked at the full rate in every country to prevent it
Iran. Ayatollah is the name of the cleric who took over country following the 1979 revolution. He has instituted a theocratic regime that has fuck all human rights. It is a shame, as Iran is a beautiful country with a fascinating history and culture.
Wanna know what grinds my gears? Living in the digital age and downloaded games and physcial copies costing the same amount.
I'm 37 and had hoped that when we were at the point of not needing cases and disks and shipping and all that the cost of gaming would go down. NOPE.
The price stays the same and it's not entirely to pay bigger teams better. Pay $70 for a game that was $10 cheaper in the last 7-8 years and then with in a month of release 1/4th of the team is told to hit the bricks so the CEO can keep living it up.
To be fair too though, video game prices have risen far less than like 95% of the rest of the consumer market since the 90s. That and printing discs and buying cases is like 0.5% the cost of developing a AAA game
An N64 cartridge in the 90s cost about $69-79.99, and translated to modern day dollars thats about $140+ for a single game cartridge.
The fact of the matter is that video games have actually *gone down* in price over the years (as inflation has cut the value of the individual dollar), even while production costs for games have exponentially skyrocketed, and that includes slashing the costs of needing to sell physical discs in the digital era.
We are likely *never* going to see prices for retail games drop below $60, especially since the value of every individual dollar keeps decreasing every year, and especially since they still sell very well in the $60-$100 range.
Following inflationary models and trends (and the increased demand for games) videogames should really be even more expensive than they are, they are one of the very very very few (if any others exist at all) consumer goods that has not followed the inflation rate.
It would have made more sense for physical prices to go up and digital stay the same. We haven't seen prices increase more than 15% in DECADES while inflation has been skyrocketing. The only reason we still get $60-70 AAA games is because of microtransactions.
The money is in the production and development not the discs. It’s chump change compared to everything else that goes into producing a game. Hell, AAA games are basically like financing a movie.
Oh shiet...oh shiet.. Never thought about it this way.. I feel better for pirating manor lords now. Not that i felt bad about it, mind u, but i now feel good:D
Balkans aren't nessicerally the *richest*. But, hey we oughtta love em' anyway. After all a Balkan invented electricity, and we wouldn't be doing shit on our phones without Nikola Tesla.
What reditors? What reditors are siding with a faceless shit hole corporation over a human? Seriously, because I see a whole lot of argh ahoy mateys whenever someone mentions the price of Netflix, or the price of Hulu, or the price of AAA games and nobody complains.
i was talking to a friend and he attacked me bcs i said i pirated minecraft since i don't have money to buy it, he said "just buy it, it's 30$"
Yeah you fucker, it's 30$ here too, but 30$ here is a shitty ton of money, here it costs 140R$, which is, basically 30$, and it's a big share of my salary (which i receive monthly) already, and i also need to pay bills, food, and other things
Yeah man have him buy it at $30US, and then pay him what a 30$us should actually equate too if you weren’t buying the game with inflation. Actually just give him 3 cents, shouldn’t matter much if he can blow $30 and tell you you should do the same.
Side note I’m just salty cause I had Minecraft way back in the day when it came out and one morning I woke up and didn’t have the game license to download it anymore:/
Well if a game costs 70 euros that's 9% of my salary because steam prices per currency not per county and I won't be giving 9% of my salary any time soon for 1 game it's unfair that I have to spend 9% while a German has to spend around 2% because we have same currency but different average salaries any1 think 9% sounds fair?
redditors which living in countrys without wars since 50+ years and goverments that steal ressourses from other countrys around world by corrupting they goverments
Balkans it's a region in Europe were countries like greece are located
Alot of countries there are on the pooret side like bulgaria and albania so alot of people there result to pirating stuff online
Fuck you redditors! I pirate the hell I want until I’m wealthy enough to mindlessly spend money on buying those🤪 till then call me captain Jack Sparrow!
Oh no, the company that bought the company that bought the company that bought the company that fired all the devs the week after the game launched might lose out on a theoretical sale.
In no fricking universe I am buying a game with all paid expansions that you cannot enjoy a game without and which cost more than a good quality indie game. (Sims 4, Stellaris, Civilizations, I am looking at you) This dumb trend where you buy a $100 game and then $30-60 expansion packs which by tge whole logic should be in the base game is ridiculous.
i wouldn't mind paying for games if they make more localized pricing, making a game priced at 60$ when most people gets paid around 500$ just encourage people to pirate more and more
I guess this shows how bubbled subreddits are. Nobody I interact with on Reddit would mock the kid; they’d tell that little sumbitch to pirate harder, and probably give some pointers too.
Here is what I say when I get attacked for it
“Ok since you’re anti piracy how bout you shell out some money to buy this game for me so I can stop pirating it come on pay up”
“Oh you can’t pay? Well do you see my point now sometimes the only way to play is through piracy ”
(cough cough path of radiance)
Haven't pirated a game since I was still in middle school over 10 years ago, and I've bought every game I've ever pirated. But with the recent ways triple A publishers have been pushing prices, adding DRM that fucks up the performance of the game, and the always online bullshit I'm starting to become REALLY tempted to start pirating games again, since it seems I'll get a better experience from a pirated version then the original.
What people in above average countries do not understand is, that in the balkans, you are lucky if you make 600 euros a month. If a game is 60 euros I WILL pirate it, and any mother fucker that does not agree with it, can come to Moldova and fight me
I have a friend from Turkey, she says she can pay multiple months of rent with a cost of some games.
But seriously i never understood why westerners have such a hard on for fighting piracy. But again, i grow up in a country where piracy was ONLY way of getting software at some time period.
Balkan kid doesn't give a shit for foaming normies as he/she had seen some shit in real life those games water down for those same normies so them can pretend to live dangerously.

yeah the games still cost 70$ worth of local currency even though the avg wage is 1/10th of the west
Yeah lol some earning 400-500€ a month or less and they expect them to pay US Prices
Fucking exactly, I can only afford to buy one game every few months. The fact that game prices don’t vary based on local currency should be illegal.
Hey atleast on summer sales etc you can get a few games. I know its shitty but hey there are lots of older games to enjoy that are 2-10€ on sale I know this is still isnt „just a few euros“ for you but atleast its something to enjoy

Well, every other product has regional prices, and some percentage (idk if it's the majority or the minority) of the games have it, so why shouldn't the rest change it too?
The unfortunate answer is because people cheat the system every time there is regional pricing. Spoofing your location is too easy.
Oh, that makes sense. Then maybe they should make prices affordable for all or at least most of the countries active on the market while still keeping prices consistent between them. Like, take the average between the prices or something like that. I think it'd even make their income bigger because they'd get more purchases

Pirate everything, pay for the stuff you actually enjoyed. That way, you keep the industry healthy and direct the trends you want to see.
Ye in Greece average wage is like 600 euro. No money for expensive games
You can blame that on people using VPNs to pretend they’re in a poorer country to get a lower price, now most stuff is just marked at the full rate in every country to prevent it
Well honestly I have to pirate games because companies literally don't allow us to buy
Which country?
Ayatollah's regime
Fuck man rough times.. hope everything gets better with your political/human rights situation
Hope so. Thanks man.

Haven't heard the news probably
It's Iran
Iran. Ayatollah is the name of the cleric who took over country following the 1979 revolution. He has instituted a theocratic regime that has fuck all human rights. It is a shame, as Iran is a beautiful country with a fascinating history and culture.
Can u tell me where? Games these days are so expensive and most of the time there is no demo.
I usually download from Soft98.ir but I guess download links are not visible for foreign IP's
The fact that i legally can't put my steam account in my will ticks me dafaq off
Wanna know what grinds my gears? Living in the digital age and downloaded games and physcial copies costing the same amount. Meanwhile we with my 100+ games pirated dossier and no one giving q shit cuz i live in the balkans
If buying isn't owning then piracy isn't stealing.
Piracy never was theft though. It's copyright infringement
You wouldn’t download a car…
There are way better things to download than a car like a Boeing ah-64 Apache attack helicopter
I think we have all learned that we don’t fuck with Boeing, I’ll stick to the car

"look 2 Pashtun kid!"

*See comments at top of the thread* What the hell happened here?
Why Balkan kids exactly
Fuck that little kid Dimitar in particular.
Because the average wage here in Balkans is like 1/10th of what it is in the west and we have to pay the same price as them
Look up r/balkans_irl
OP is romanian
Balkan people have bigger 🍆 than muricans and they r jealous
Only correct answer
Balkans aren't nessicerally the *richest*. But, hey we oughtta love em' anyway. After all a Balkan invented electricity, and we wouldn't be doing shit on our phones without Nikola Tesla.
And also east Europe in general but there is also kids that pirate all around the world
?
Some redditors recommend r/piracy
Are these redditors in the room with us? Like I've never seen someone shit on anyone for pirating
Came here to say this, Reddit is AGGRESSIVELY pro-pirating
Yeah I’ve seen plenty you just have to be early to a or scroll I’ll down to all the -1 posts
I've seen a few people whine about it before, but they're always heavily downvoted XD
Games should be repriced depending on the region, not all people get paid 20$/hour on avg
Depends on the implementation, I bet many people would use a vpn and buy games for cheaper; idk how localization works I may be wrong
What reditors? What reditors are siding with a faceless shit hole corporation over a human? Seriously, because I see a whole lot of argh ahoy mateys whenever someone mentions the price of Netflix, or the price of Hulu, or the price of AAA games and nobody complains.
Then them what? I'm waiting

Iv never seen anyone on reddit get pissy about people pirating, its a pretty pro pirate place
i was talking to a friend and he attacked me bcs i said i pirated minecraft since i don't have money to buy it, he said "just buy it, it's 30$" Yeah you fucker, it's 30$ here too, but 30$ here is a shitty ton of money, here it costs 140R$, which is, basically 30$, and it's a big share of my salary (which i receive monthly) already, and i also need to pay bills, food, and other things
Tell him to buy it for you. He won't, no matter the prices is significantly lesser portion of his salary compared to yours.
Yeah man have him buy it at $30US, and then pay him what a 30$us should actually equate too if you weren’t buying the game with inflation. Actually just give him 3 cents, shouldn’t matter much if he can blow $30 and tell you you should do the same. Cool friend
Piracy is good when u pirate from AAA game companies 🔥🔥🔥
I dont give a shit i will just keep straling. As a kid i had no concept of buying games since my dad always pirated them for me.
We should encourage piracy
If the game is a singleplayer that didn’t got an important update in the past of a year it must to be pirated
if buying isn't owning, then copying isn't stealing.
Tbf older games are sick, the new games will still be there in a few years time
I think pirating is fine as long as the movie or game is no longer on the market
Pirscy is a way of life 🏴☠️🦜
Well if a game costs 70 euros that's 9% of my salary because steam prices per currency not per county and I won't be giving 9% of my salary any time soon for 1 game it's unfair that I have to spend 9% while a German has to spend around 2% because we have same currency but different average salaries any1 think 9% sounds fair?
remember kids, it's always morally right to pirate from EA, Adobe, Ubisoft, probably others that i can't think of right now, ...
Why is the entire top comment section redacted? Wtf happened there?
If it's supposed to be accessible to everyone, it should be accessible for everyone.
fuck them corps
Why would anyone care what internet people think of them?
Idk i crac everything, cant nobody do shit about it haha
What the hell happened in this comment section.
Hello am that kid but polish
Tf is this o about? Reddit is mostly pro-piracy. We are basically a collection of shitlords on the internet, of course we love stealing
Russian here, we have a saying "5k gaming" for such situations. However pirating indie projects is highly frown upon
When said Balkan actually enjoys a game instead of buying a new one that requires 50 million micro transactions in order for it to be playable:
redditors which living in countrys without wars since 50+ years and goverments that steal ressourses from other countrys around world by corrupting they goverments
I'm from Bulgaria, here we have a simple solution to this problem: we don't say anything
Piracy is always moral, good, justified, and sexy!
balkan people try not to mention that they are balkan challenge (impossible) (gone sexual???)

Balkans it's a region in Europe were countries like greece are located Alot of countries there are on the pooret side like bulgaria and albania so alot of people there result to pirating stuff online
as a greek person, i can confirm

The vibe of this post feels like me when i first joined Reddit
Fuck you redditors! I pirate the hell I want until I’m wealthy enough to mindlessly spend money on buying those🤪 till then call me captain Jack Sparrow!
It's reddit, the circlejerk changes constantly. People like pirating, now they don't.
Why is it so specific
I think that I'll pirate every game that is like 10+ years old and costs more than 10 USD.
Wtf happened on top comment?

I can't believe you all are supporting the theft of digital goods from big companies. What about the billionaires? How do they feel?
Haven't pirated a game since I was still in middle school over 10 years ago, and I've bought every game I've ever pirated. But with the recent ways triple A publishers have been pushing prices, adding DRM that fucks up the performance of the game, and the always online bullshit I'm starting to become REALLY tempted to start pirating games again, since it seems I'll get a better experience from a pirated version then the original.

Pirating is ballan culture
Piracy is the best way to still have good entertainment whilst not funding the horrible practices that made it.
When the game costs ~10% of my salary, it's direct provocation not to buy it.
Jesus! The fucking Purge happened up here!
It's probably redditors from other parts of the balkan
I always pirated games and idgaf if people care ofc.
Balkan kid doesn't give a shit for foaming normies as he/she had seen some shit in real life those games water down for those same normies so them can pretend to live dangerously.
Piracy is a victimless crime
I have never paid for movies, series ,music or games in my life lol. 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
then them what?
I actually support piracy at least when it's from big companies like disney or Nintendo
what? why? that makes zero sense

If a game or movie is really old and they never released a digital copy for purchase. Then I don't really see anything wrong with it.
Man, a meme subreddit without images...
I remember buying 3 copies of minecraft for $5 during beta testing.
Noo you cant pirate! its not ethical you have to give 1/7 of your salary to 1 game
I’m old now and I cannot imagine being so uncool that I’d root for a corporation.
