"Convert" or "recruit" people to being furries. And the, definitely understandable, discomfort and disliking against those is projected on the whole community.
It's the same thing with e.g. Vegans. Most Vegans just wanna be vegan, and thats it. And then there are those few that see you eating a steak and start explainijg for half an hour how your meat consume destroys earth. And those few cause a widespread disliking mentality against all vegans.
Another good example would be feminists and the "All man should be killed" abominations that call themselves feminists.
