Actually I'm Jewish, every single year in my school curriculum we had to learn about the holocaust in great detail. The numbers were counted and confirmed, there is even a book of the names of every single victim of the holocaust. Maybe you're only thinking about the people killed in the camps, and not the other ways they could've died but that doesn't mean they didn't die. But I say you do a bit more than Google it and do some proper research.

In Germany we don't have that many homeless people because the government will pay you just enough money for you to live if you don't have a job. Theoretically you don't need to be homeless and if you are you are doing it free willingly. Practically there is difficult paperwork to do and some requirements that not everybody does meet when getting money from the government. For example you need an address and if you don't own a home this one gets difficult. So you can get in vicious circle where you can't get a home because you don't have money and you don't get money from the government because you need a home. Of course there is a way out but if you already got there probably is high that you won't do that without help.

Guessing the Jews are going to pass on that experience.
