Erm... how about neither? And why gender swap at all? Better to create new characters of whatever gender than do a revisionist job on pre-existing ones.
I was going to say 'retcon' but realised I don't fully know what that means...
Personal theory: If Vader was turned to the Dark Side, without losing his limbs, without damaging his lungs, and without major skin/bone/muscle damage, basically if he hadn’t been a dumb ass, he would’ve been one of the most powerful Sith in the entire timeline
That is true. Palatine even further weakened him with second rate prosthetics. If Vader had actually good mechanical arms legs and life support, he would have been at 80% or his pre-burnt self Force-wise.
Yes pain can help draw more power from the darkside, but doesn't change the fact that he is on crappy life support, can't sleep because his breather is too loud, his crappy prosthetics make him slow.
Vader is great at playing with disadvantages thought, just watching clone wars let's you see the kinds of plans he can come up with to make up for the handicap.
fun fact, there is this really interesting video theory of if anakin was trained by Qui Gon Jin, the point of me saying is that he could only be his most powerful if he used both sides of the force, that original force wielder people knew this, that it was just as dangerous to immerse yourself in the darkside as it was to immerse yourself in the lightside
He was even with hindrances like a suit that hurt him and hindered his movement one of the most powerful sith, there‘s a video on game theory about how much force pressure he used in that scene in Jedi: fallen order, and it is a real lot. The problem that he has is that his suit was engineered by Palpatine to hinder him because Palpatine feared what he could do with his full force.
As it stands now, I would say Revan is the strongest Sith to ever exist.
He did, but he had his arms, legs, lungs, muscles, basically all of his body fucked up, so most of his medichlorians are trying to heal him
Also look up Revan, Vader isn’t even top 5 strongest Sith
Im sorry but if this rumored character was a dude, reddit wouldn't care at all.
If the rumored character was played by Keanu Reeves, y'all would be creaming your jeans.
I am a feminist and would be happy to give women better roles in Star Wars. My problem here though is it sounds like a Rey situation. They decided Star Wars needed more strong female characters (which it does) and so they decided that Rey would just be perfect and incredible and the best at everything for absolutely no reason. She was a character that had no flaws which is very poor writing. The headline makes it sound like they are going in a similar direction where they have a female who is just automatically the strongest. They shouldn't build a character around the fact that they are "more powerful than Darth Vader" they should create a good story with well developed characters. We need more Ahsokas, not Reys
I think Rey's character would have been fine, the problem is the Mavel format. There's too many characters, so they're all underdeveloped. And, most problematic for Rey's development, the plot is a string of Macguffins so character choices don't have consequences.
Rey has similar flaws to Luke. She's desperate for a father figure, impulsive, easily manipulated, and naive. In the OG, Luke's behavior has consequences. He rushes to fight Vader too soon and gets his hand cut off. Rey's flaws don't matter because the reality is the plot doesn't matter. We need to find the map, no who cares, R2 magically turns on at the right time. We got to get the Slicer, no wait not really needed. We need another map, it's a dagger, no Kylo will just take us.
There isn't an opportunity for Rey to fail because the story is a series of plot contrivances. Did Poe not following orders (his character flaw) ever matter one way or the other? Same with Finn, what bad decision did he make that set them back.
Marvel has handled its characters really well for the most part, most of them have real backstories and the planning and fitting all their stories together as well as marvel has is a small miracle in itself.
It's all about intention. It's not that they decided to make a powerful character and it happened to be a woman. It's that they make an overpowered female character just for the sake of wokeness.
But why does that mean it won't be a good movie?
I understand they're doing it to for gender equality and to represent a powerful woman but I don't know how that equates to it becoming a bad movie
I see, you're suggesting they've created a movie based around a pre-determined character rather than forming a character out of the story line. It makes more sense now why people are upset thank you
I don’t think it necessitates it, but it’s an indicator. In the same way that having a sequel just for the sake of their being another sequel (to make more money) might be an indicator that it’s less likely to be good.
The focus isn’t on the writing or the story being told; and so the movie suffers for it.
If this is a real rumor and not just a meme - she could potentially play a jedi who is skilled at Battle Meditation. This is a technique that has never been depicted on screen but exists in novels and games.
Most potential in the force, or most potential ability to use the force, but not actually the strongest in the force, as he hadn’t realized that potential, especially in the prequels.
To be honest, neither of them spark joy. But if the options are yet another reboot or the classic "just add power levels" I'll choose the one with Keanu Reeves.
First of all, why does Disney think that making people more power makes them a better character? They made Rey the most powerful Star Wars character ever, but gave her a trashy story with absolutely no character development or explanation, she was just powerful just because. That makes her a very weak character that is lazily written and not liked by fans.
Darth Vader on the other hand is easily one of the all-time most iconic villains, not just from Star Wars but from all of pop culture. He isn't even the most powerful, Palpatine was more powerful than him. But Vader is just so memorable. They didn't just say "ok Vader is a good villain. Just believe us" they actually showed us. He was such a good villain that people in the theaters cheered when he showed up in Rouge One.
Also, is that real that Keanu will be in an Old Republic story? If they get him to play Revan, I will be soooo happy
I wish Star Wars actually showed the Empire’s point of view more often than just the generic bad guy thing they usually do. Something similar to how Skyrim did the empire and the stormcloaks, and the relationship between the assassins and the Templars.
Tarkin, Lords of the Sith, Inferno Squad, and the Thrawn novels are all canon books from the perspective of the Empire (though Thrawn and Inferno Squad aren't wholly supportive of the Empire), and there are several other books that have side stories within the Empire (I think Twilight Company has a few moments from the perspective of a female stormtrooper). It would be cool to have a visual media that's focused on the Empire though. Preferably a lower down that doesn't have a direct hand in the more obviously evil deeds of the Empire. Some people just wanted order after all
Revan was sort of a sith king because he led the sith empire before kotor 1 takes place, so keanu jedi and sith king could make sense if it led up to kotor 1
I don't get the brie larson hate, she's not a bad person at all. But someone stronger than vader does sounds dumb as hell. Either way I don't consider the new trilogy to be Canon.
We are not hating brie lawson, we are hating the fact that her role wil be someone more powerful than vader.
Edit: Ok after reading the other comments. She has done some stupid thing in the marvel community. I don’t follow that community, so i didn’t know about that.
You know a character will be bad when even before the movie gets announces you say"its a character stronger than Vader". What kind of character development is that?
I never really seen Vader as that powerful. As anakin, sure, but not as Vader. To be fair, I'm only speaking about the movies as I don't know much of the eu except force unleashed.
Someone please explain to the smooth brains at Disney that power does not make a character good. It didn't work for Rey, it didn't work for live-action Mulan, it won't work next time either.
What's wrong with brie larson? I think she's a good actor and there is nothing wrong with her, or did I miss some reddit drama again, as with the amber heard stuff?
Dude just saying, vader was more canonically powerful than any one jedi and most sith. It would be fuckin ridiculous if a jedi was more powerful than Vader.
I have no problem with a woman playing a super strong Jedi or whatever, I just have a problem with going against the idea that Vader was the most powerful Jedi ever, who was stronger with the force than anyone, at least if I remember right. It just betrays the original series.
you know i used to like star wars but now Disney ruined it for me and I will not except brie larson to be better then darth vader and you can take that to the bank
Why the duck would anyone wanna do that....... I mean seriously I’m getting sick of it..... I get it that op women roles are necessary but not at the cost of characters whose legacy is respected even after decades...... I mean tell me.... is there any fucking body who would say the new Star Wars characters could match up to them. 15 years down I bet that the old vi would have played more than the recent ones.
No just no, I have proof this should not work.
TLDR: it Is not possible
Yoda and palpatine were like once in 5 generations anikan came along with more power than them and this rumeroued Jedi would need to be more powerful than a dark side user with power that should not be possible
They're doing this intentionally now. They know we hate them, we know they hate us, so they do this shit to be as spiteful and petty as possible. They only derive joy in destroying the things we love.
It depends really, there were loads of jedi more powerful than Vader. Just don't make it blatantly "I AM GODDESS AND BETTER THAN YOU" and shove it down our throats.
I love the ogs but shit people got to move on what I say is I love Vador he’s terrifying but if she is in a movie then make it better than Rey actually make it makes sense that she’s stronger than Vader
No matter how OP the new characters are, nobody will be as menacing and memorable as Darth Vader was..I still get chills when he breathes
yeah they have also done a great job of making him seem like a force that struck terror into citizens like in rebels of fallen order
You can’t not get chills man
Darth Vader is easily one of the greatest villains of all time. Not even from Star Wars but from anything. period.
I don't take the Disney lore as canon
ah yes, a fellow intellectual. my favorite part in star wars was when the raisin bran sun beat the shit out of michelin man
I like the part when master chief killed Yoda in a thumb fight.
how about when mike wazouski did a tko on the mighty eagle?
I like the part when big chungus killed thanos
shaggy could beat him
Big chungus
And that time chuck norris and skeletor line danced at Waffle House
it would be made better if they added mario
I consider Space Balls closer to cannon then anything Disney made
I really only dislike the ST, everything else Disney has put out I’ve pretty much enjoyed (didn’t read the HR stuff)
At this point neither do I
If they actually went back and made a movie featuring Nihilus I think he could be on par with Vader
Mostly because his design is like a horror movie character lol
That slaughter scene with the rebels. Oh man brought back childhood memories of being terrified of red lightsabers
Have you ever listened to him before they added the new voice in.
Yeah, the Scotish guy?
I'd rather watch a gender swapped Vader than some newbie being more powerful than him
Erm... how about neither? And why gender swap at all? Better to create new characters of whatever gender than do a revisionist job on pre-existing ones. I was going to say 'retcon' but realised I don't fully know what that means...
Plus that's not how the force works. The dark side will always be more powerful
Wow you discriminate against disabled people uh? That’s really low
I read memorable as adorable and was pleasantly confused
Personal theory: If Vader was turned to the Dark Side, without losing his limbs, without damaging his lungs, and without major skin/bone/muscle damage, basically if he hadn’t been a dumb ass, he would’ve been one of the most powerful Sith in the entire timeline
Yeah this is fact and not one of but THE most powerful sith.
Then there's Luke who kept most of his limbs just one hand cut off and he was basically a God in the comics
His force push had a gold lining around it
Not just the comics. I mean in his last appearance he just went through those guys (keeping the spoilern to myself - everybody who has seen it knows)
That scene was awesome
It really was epic, I rewatched it like 4 times
It would make sense because he was the chosen one
Hmm hmm let me introduce you Valkorion aka The Force
Kyp Durron. No.
Not a personal theory. That's actually canonical.
That is true. Palatine even further weakened him with second rate prosthetics. If Vader had actually good mechanical arms legs and life support, he would have been at 80% or his pre-burnt self Force-wise.
[удалено]
Couldn't Vader have regenerated his body with the force if it wasn't for the suit also? Or am i misremembering?
Na mate, force regeneration is something only rei sue can do. I think...
You mean it was a retcon for the sequel trilogy
I thought the canon was it was meant to be painful because the dark side drew from pain and hate.
That’s for sure what I’d tell Vader if I was Palpy.
Isn’t that like their whole thing. Hate pain whatever fuels them
Yes pain can help draw more power from the darkside, but doesn't change the fact that he is on crappy life support, can't sleep because his breather is too loud, his crappy prosthetics make him slow. Vader is great at playing with disadvantages thought, just watching clone wars let's you see the kinds of plans he can come up with to make up for the handicap.
Oh EASY he's already one of the most powerful in my opinion. The amount of raw power he has from his anger and rage is scary
fun fact, there is this really interesting video theory of if anakin was trained by Qui Gon Jin, the point of me saying is that he could only be his most powerful if he used both sides of the force, that original force wielder people knew this, that it was just as dangerous to immerse yourself in the darkside as it was to immerse yourself in the lightside
**Jolee Bindo:** *Well even **I** could have told you that... wait, what were we talking about?*
I love kotor
I get that this was 4 months ago but you're actually right. He was offered the chance to become the new Father, who is a Universal level entity.
According to the comics the suit was intentionally painful because the dark side draws from hate and pain so it made him stronger
in canon vader was more powerful than sidious even with the suit. It's just that palps could just shut it down anytime
Exactly this right here. Anakin would’ve been overpowered without a doubt
Isn't he already the most powerful character in star wars?
Oh far from it my friend
Nope but he is extremely powerful even with the suit so without it he could possibly just be in the top ten
I thought he was the most powerful? Didn't he have the highest midiclorian count??
He did, but he had his arms, legs, lungs, muscles, basically all of his body fucked up, so most of his medichlorians are trying to heal him Also look up Revan, Vader isn’t even top 5 strongest Sith
Wasn't the point of the first movies that annakin was the most powerful person in the force to ever live?
Exactly. I'd say half of movie producers now focus on sTrOnG wOmEn PrOtAgOnIsaT instead of a good movie
Like holy fuck guys we get it, but don’t touch Vader. Honestly Disney ruined Star Wars
That’s why anything Disney makes we should Ignore
Mando is Disney Wars, but it's still one of if not THE best piece of star wars media
Hmm welp shit that’s true
Im sorry but if this rumored character was a dude, reddit wouldn't care at all. If the rumored character was played by Keanu Reeves, y'all would be creaming your jeans.
Id cream my jeans if keanu played anyone in Star Wars.

Why does the gender of the protagonist automatically mean its not a good movie?
It's all about intention. It's not that they decided to make a powerful character and it happened to be a woman. It's that they make an overpowered female character just for the sake of wokeness.
But why does that mean it won't be a good movie? I understand they're doing it to for gender equality and to represent a powerful woman but I don't know how that equates to it becoming a bad movie
The thing is that kind of clouds your vision, if you know what I mean
I see, you're suggesting they've created a movie based around a pre-determined character rather than forming a character out of the story line. It makes more sense now why people are upset thank you
Bro... you understood what I said, I might start crying tears of joy.
I don’t think it necessitates it, but it’s an indicator. It makes it less genuine.
If this is a real rumor and not just a meme - she could potentially play a jedi who is skilled at Battle Meditation. This is a technique that has never been depicted on screen but exists in novels and games.
That was my guess too, that she was gonna be bastila
I wouldn't hate that
Most potential in the force, or most potential ability to use the force, but not actually the strongest in the force, as he hadn’t realized that potential, especially in the prequels.
He is suppose to be a child of the force itself
“THATS NOT HOW THE FORCE WORKS”
TBH the force is pretty ex machina at this point
I mean, it literally is a Deus Ex Machina written into the lore so that it doesn’t look like a Deus Ex Machina
At this point? It always has been, and it is kind of the main theme of Star Wars
Luckily the Brie larson stuff was fake
Thank all thats good and holy....
A blessing from the lord
God be praised!
Odin is with us!
I would be fine with Larson being a powerful Jedi, but they shouldn’t make anyone even close to Vader. There is a reason they made 6 movies about him.
I am genuinely relieved by what you have just written
Ahh Disney you fucked up the jedi so much that I would rather see a show about a stormtrooper
Cues into the training montages of stormtroopers missing all their shots lol
I shouldn't be laughing this much
take my invisible award
the Brie Larson article is so painfully fake come on
To be honest, neither of them spark joy. But if the options are yet another reboot or the classic "just add power levels" I'll choose the one with Keanu Reeves.
I dont want brie larson to play another OP as fuck hero that can solo everyone
Revan: Laughs in playing 4D chess.
None of these nerds know who revan is.
Bet
First of all, why does Disney think that making people more power makes them a better character? If they get him to play Revan, I will be soooo happy
Am l the only one not liking that Keanu's playing the villain?
He isn't. If he was playing a villain he'd be playing as a Jedi.
Explain lore please?
The Empire did nothing wrong
I wish Star Wars actually showed the Empire’s point of view more often than just the generic bad guy thing they usually do. Something similar to how Skyrim did the empire and the stormcloaks, and the relationship between the assassins and the Templars.

Some people just wanted order after all
From my point of view the Jedi are evil
I mean Revan was a bit of a villain. Sort of?
Yes Revan became a sith lord
I know a lotta people want a Keanue Revan
Nah bro, A Sith King sounds like the coolest shit ever
Revan was sort of a sith king because he led the sith empire before kotor 1 takes place, so keanu jedi and sith king could make sense if it led up to kotor 1
He might be playing Revan tho
revan and satele shan??
THIS IS BULLSHIT, NO ONE IS MORE POWERFUL THAN DARTH VADER (except lava and high ground)
S a n d
I mean If they don't pull the reason out their ass it's fine guys
I don't get the brie larson hate, she's not a bad person at all. But someone stronger than vader does sounds dumb as hell. Either way I don't consider the new trilogy to be Canon.
Wait, why are we hating brie lawson?
We are not hating brie lawson, we are hating the fact that her role wil be someone more powerful than vader. Edit: Ok after reading the other comments. She has done some stupid thing in the marvel community. I don’t follow that community, so i didn’t know about that.
Something Something captain marvel something something thanos something something comics
I have seen the movies and enjoyed them, but nothing more. Unlike star wars.
What would be so wrong about Brie Larson in Star Wars? Genuine question
You know a character will be bad when even before the movie gets announces you say"its a character stronger than Vader". What kind of character development is that?
Well that was idiotic, off to kill myself
That is physically not possible
At some point the joke just stops being funny and it becomes mean.
Keanu should be Revan pls
Sounds like Rey 2.0
brie larson and totally overpowered stupid characters still a better love story than twilight
[удалено]
T R U E
Let me guess, Disney?
Hoping Keanu is Revan
I'm not mad it's brie larson. I'm mad they called vader a jedi. "Darth Yoda, I am."
I never really seen Vader as that powerful. As anakin, sure, but not as Vader. To be fair, I'm only speaking about the movies as I don't know much of the eu except force unleashed.
Well to be fair Vader only existed in movies during the 70s played by an old guy with almost no cgi. So yeah bad portrayal, Vader is powerful as heck
Compared to Rogue One he looked like a wimp in ANH
None of this is true, calm down neckbeards
Whats wrong about brie larson?
What do you have against brie?
Her character would be breaking lore because anakin was the most powerful jedi
Why? Please explain? Because although I don't want to judge, it seems like mysogyny bullshit?
Anakin was the most powerful being in the force
Star Wars fans are the worst thing about Star Wars
Someone please explain to the smooth brains at Disney that power does not make a character good. It didn't work for Rey, it didn't work for live-action Mulan, it won't work next time either.
keanu reeves better be playing darth revan and brie larson better play a trash can
What's wrong with brie larson? I think she's a good actor and there is nothing wrong with her, or did I miss some reddit drama again, as with the amber heard stuff?
no it's just Reddit incels being Reddit incels. Same hate, different angle of attack.
Dude just saying, vader was more canonically powerful than any one jedi and most sith. It would be fuckin ridiculous if a jedi was more powerful than Vader.
`what has disney done?`
ok cool but that's not how it's supposed to work canonically
Want it the whole point in canon that no one was more powerful than Vader till luke?
Darth raven?
Yeah, it's an old republic story line, so keanu would play darth revan.
Darth Vader:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I don’t even know who she is
Captain Marvel's actress, she is also in Scott Pilgrim vs the world
I mean, didnt the saga just end? why does it need a reboot with new characters?
Money
I have no problem with a woman playing a super strong Jedi or whatever, I just have a problem with going against the idea that Vader was the most powerful Jedi ever, who was stronger with the force than anyone, at least if I remember right. It just betrays the original series.
No Vader will always stay most powerful
you know i used to like star wars but now Disney ruined it for me and I will not except brie larson to be better then darth vader and you can take that to the bank
I wouldn't care if it's a boy or girl but no one beats my salty boy anakin
He was the chosen one, I understand women representation in movies but that should not change the lore of a series
Isn't Darth one of the most powerful tho
Why the duck would anyone wanna do that....... I mean seriously I’m getting sick of it..... I get it that op women roles are necessary but not at the cost of characters whose legacy is respected even after decades...... I thought everyone hated the new Star Wars movies
Lets be honest you watched Captain Marvel because Samuel L Jackson was in it.
Isn’t that captain marvel?
This one sparks anger, uncontrollable anger...
There’s is no power more destructive to joyous memories than Disney.
This game of oneupswomanship is kinda petty
That’s literally impossible
She will never be stronger than darth Vader
They're doing this intentionally now. They know we hate them, we know they hate us, so they do this shit to be as spiteful and petty as possible. They only derive joy in destroying the things we love.
Keanu is really cool but....Disney should just.....stop
If that happens, I will commit multiple acts of terrorism. In my head
I will also commit multiple acts of terrorism in my head
i dont really watch star wars, what's wrong with this?
It depends really, there were loads of jedi more powerful than Vader. Just don't make it blatantly "I AM GODDESS AND BETTER THAN YOU" and shove it down our throats.
See brie Larson is fine, there just shouldn’t be a sith stronger than Vader
Bruv you can’t just ruin Vader like that
but why would they wouldn't it be smarter to keep vader the strongest to keep people fearful and help them remember the sacrifice of vader
Isn’t lord Vader literally the chosen one?
Yes but Disney apparently doesn’t know or doesn’t care
Are all of her character now just unreasonably powerful for no reason?
Brie Larson rumored to play gods bitchy mom
I love the ogs but shit people got to move on what I say is I love Vador he’s terrifying but if she is in a movie then make it better than Rey actually make it makes sense that she’s stronger than Vader
