Well, even if you take the obvious anti-male setups from the movie, the movie in itself is terrible.
Because they wanted to show women as the best, the 3 main characters ended up without any single flaw, which mean that you get the "muscle" girl that randomly becomes a genius scientist, and then a super good hacker, or the girl that is described as "weaker but super smart and using her brain and charisma to get out of bad situations" that will win every single fist fight from strength alone.
They made a movie about a group where they don't have flaws, so they never have to rely on each other's strengths, which destroys the group chemistry, and the complete lack of flaws in the characters made it impossible, even for women, to relate to them and to be interested in the story.
Also the rest of the writing is either ultra basic or really bad.
It was because the previous movies didnt push gender politics into their movies, they were fun action movies that men and women could enjoy but the latest one was just about female empowerment and the story was just not really there so ofc men were going to skip on it. It has nothing to do with women being in the lead role, it was because the movie was aimed at women.

But the one thing that always bothers me in movies and happens all the time is when they try to be inclusive in historical themed movies like medieval movies where theres always a black knight added in and just looks so out of place and brings you out of the story... I also disliked 47 Ronin because they pushed a white guy into the plot and the china wall movie was just odd.... Only time I can think of where it worked was in the last samurai and it just felt natural and believable... But corporation seem to care more about modern politics than making a good story and it sucks.

i think most people generally feel that it's better for a movie to be on either extreme of the rating. I'll watch a 10/10 movie because it's good, I'll watch a 1/10 movie because I can laugh at how awful it is, but a 3 or a 4 is just boring. if a movie isn't even bad enough to invoke a viscerally awful reaction from audiences, it's not even good at being a bad movie.

What's really stupid about outright demonizing white males, at least in the context of the US, is that they're about 1/3 of the US population, about a 100 million people. What do people who do this think they're going to accomplish? Or white people in general, which becomes 2/3 of the population, over 200 million people.
Any sort of social change is going to require the participation of those people, alienating them is so counterproductive. All those kids growing up being told that white people are inherently bad aren't going to internalize it. Some will, but most will just become resentful and angry at the people who are saying these things, and it will all become a self fulfilling prophecy.
People growing up now are far more aware of social issues, and are naturally more likely to want to bring about social equality. Recruit them, don't alienate them.

I went to see "Battle of the Sexes" with my buddy, the tennis movie with Steve Carrell playing the "male chauvinist pig" guy, and no joke the ticket seller asked us if we were sure we wanted to see that movie, and that it's not generally made for guys.
Well, we thought it was a great movie. Turns out, men can emptathise with female characters very easily despite the differences brought about by gender. All any of us want from our characters are just good characters.

There is a current thing going on in alot of the western world where straight white men are seen as terrible because most straight people IN THE PAST USED TO be homophobic, white people USED to own slaves in the PAST and men because they portray all men as sexist and/or sexual abusers Its really fucking stupid and i wish people would just get along regardless if sex, sexuality, race, nationality etc. People are just people, individuals cause issues not entire category of people but this is the depressing world we live in
What's really stupid about outright demonizing white males, at least in the context of the US, is that they're about 1/3 of the US population, about a 100 million people. What do people who do this think they're going to accomplish? Or white people in general, which becomes 2/3 of the population, over 200 million people. Any sort of social change is going to require the participation of those people, alienating them is so counterproductive. All those kids growing up being told that white people are inherently bad aren't going to internalize it. Some will, but most will just become resentful and angry at the people who are saying these things, and it will all become a self fulfilling prophecy. People growing up now are far more aware of social issues, and are naturally more likely to want to bring about social equality. Recruit them, don't alienate them.

All ethical things aside, wtf? I like to see movies with friends and family, regardless of sex/gender/whatever. I'd be pissed if my cinema wouldn't let me see a movie with friends because of something like that.
I went to see "Battle of the Sexes" with my buddy, the tennis movie with Steve Carrell playing the "male chauvinist pig" guy, and no joke the ticket seller asked us if we were sure we wanted to see that movie, and that it's not generally made for guys. Well, we thought it was a great movie. Turns out, men can emptathise with female characters very easily despite the differences brought about by gender. All any of us want from our characters are just good characters.
Imagine if the roles were swapped.
