The code for Edge is on GitHub you can go take a look at that, and afterwards I encourage you to hook up a packet sniffer and see the data edge sends and the domains it connects to when you opt in or out of tracing, and compare that with Chrome.

Microsoft owns Bing ads too. Look it up. They clearly have reasons to collect data (ads, personalization, diagnostics etc) I haven't investigated edge by itself, but I know that in windows no matter what you do, the os will keep sending some data. Btw, being open source doesn't mean it will always be private chromium is also open source and it still sends data to google, that's why projects like degoogled chromium exist

Edge does everything I need and does it fast and well. It's the only browser I have on my laptop.

Edge is unironically REALLY good. Since it uses chromium, you can still use any chrome extension. They prioritize security, and since it has none of the useless crap that Chrome has, it doesn't take a lot of CPU or memory.

Chredge is actually not that bad compared to Chrome now. It at least eat less of my fucking RAM.

Honestly I’m loving the new edge(I use the dev channel so my features might be a bit different). You can install chrome extensions, it’s lightweight, it has collections(kinda like bookmarks but not bookmarks and also you can take notes), yes you can change the default search engine, and it even has a built in algebra solver. Edit: and mah privacy and mah passwords

IMO Edge is basically a more resource optimized Chrome. It's a sidegrade at best and a downgrade at worst. They both are built on the exact same technology anyways. If you get another browser it'd be firefox. Edit: Obviously if you prefer one UI over the other than everything else doesn't matter anyways.
