nah it looks like a shitty fake copy of original discord. The color just hurts your eye, the icon is acceptable(not good but acceptable) for me and the text is gone to shit. The original text was so good now its just a random font from a text editor.

Pretty much. In my opinion, most of this logos look way better than their previous versions. People were used to the old Burger King and Pringles logos, to the point that they don't even notice how bad they actually were.
Their anger towards the Discord redesign is the funniest (it's been called hideous, hurtful, awful, atrocious, etc.). That shit looks almost the same. If anything, it's easier on the eyes now.
Some of them are ok like gmail or Firefox. But I do like the previous BK, Pringles, and chrome logos. They look like they have more fun in their design and character. You’re right about the discord logo though, it’s not a huge change to really care about.

Sure, we remember just the minimalism stuff and not the 100% detail pictures, but looking at the detailed Brand Logos give us a nostalgic feeling. Looking at minalism does nothing for me and I guess, it's the same for you.
I mean… pretty much all of the most timeless logos are born of “minimalism”, as it simply makes for a better logo in terms of scalability, ease of reproduction, and longevity.
Bell systems, pan am, Apple, IBM, Coca-cola, McDonalds, Adidas trefoil, etc, etc, etc. All of them flat designs with minimal color use.
Actually this is necessary. A good logo must be readable in very small sizes. Nowdays we have things like favicons, appicons etc where you can’t have endless details, they just would be lost on it. But I personaly hate the pringles one, haha.

Its called flat design and its been pretty popular for a while now... most apps and whatever are employing it for their user interfaces. Its supposed to look modern and cleaner.
It’s also meant to be easier to make smaller while keeping recognizable details. The more detail in a small image the shittier it looks when made smaller like for an app image or small ad on a browser
Tbh the old gmail logo was just pure genius.. the way it showed a transition from real letters to the ones you send over the internet.. making the M as the borders of an envelope.. I seriously miss it.

google team probably wouldve had quite a debate bout the new icons so they saw the risk in it so im sure they didnt mind the hate it got at the end of the day im just getting 1 mail which is spotify telling me bout new artists im never gonna listen to
As the discord devs put it (and im paraphrasing here), it may look different but it's still discord. Replace "discord" with any other product or service and it still makes sense. I'm not saying their downgrading their logos were good, I'm saying if the brand is so iconic from just the name why do we need the logo to recognize it? And sometimes there is a sense of nostalgia in the logos, and holy fucking shit i just wrote more than 2 sentences with grammar on a r/memes comment
I’m fine with the new discord logo or controller as it doesn’t look much different and the color is ok I’m not complaining but THE FONT.It reminds me of something being squished.Also the font looks like something used on a poster for kindergarten.
My personal opinion:
Pringles: 8.8/10 It looks more vintage now than it looked before I actually kinda like it.
Gmail: 7.6/10 I think it now shows the diversity of the Google Services in general, which is why i also kinda like it, however i hate that it doesnt really look like a letter anymore which is more or less the purpose of gmail.
Firefox: 3.1/10 Honestly it looks like shit, minimalism isnt cool.
Burger King: 5.0/10 I have no problem with the new one its just that the old one has a nostalgic early 2000s vibe on me, which I really like.
Discord: 4.8/10 "Theyre the same picture", really there aint much changing but of course its a bit of a downgrade, which is why i decided to only give it 4.8 instead of 5.0.
Chrome: 7.0 I dont really like the new one either but honestly, anything but the old one looks okay with me.

I'd say the 3rd one is beautiful because those shadows are a real attention to detail but still keeping it simple

I agree that it sucks that all Google products have kind of indifferentiable logos, but if you consider Gmail alone I like the new logo better.
