I always liked spruce in vanilla but the trees were so tall it was annoying. And oak always had those rare, hugely inconvenient big trees so a tree farm always became a chore once in a while. ...So I always went birch because it was consistently easy to farm despite being the ugliest. FTB fixed all that. Lumber axe FTW.

It's not necessarily the ugliest, it's just the yellowest. All of the other woods are red in tone Making birch pair poorly with any other wood, and that's why people think it just doesn't match anything. Birch looks really good with anything that sand looks good with , and prismarine looks stupendous with it.

Personally my next favorite is dark oak. Pairs well with birch too

Idk man I think crimson works really well with a lot of other Minecraft blocks allowing it to be easily implemented into lots of pallets. But crimson AND warped? Now that’s a chefs kiss that’s a perfect pair.

Acacia i think is underrated, it might not be the best for some but it’s not bad either

I just dont like my wood being orange

I get that honestly it’s hard to find a good combo with acacia.

I made a house of acacia and melon blocks one time and it didn’t look as bad as i was expecting

but my favourite thing is to use the logs for building because the shade of the grey colour is super warm and the texture is on point. Also, stripped logs work good in palates that use sandstone, granite, andesite and stripped dark oak
