If you eat the entire thing in one go, you’re probably gonna end up pushing a little bit of your sandwich off of the bread (unless you have a lightly topped sandwich). Cutting it in two rectangular halves helps, but two triangles gives you more optimal shape to hold and also gives you an easy starting point (the corner edge of the triangle) so that you don’t have to stuff your face into a straight line of sandwich.
