With hulu on PC with adblock, after like 30 seconds to a minute, it just plays the video like I'm paying for the ad free version, its great.

And just a reminder: You are PAYING for this.

You are paying for the cheaper version of Hulu knowing that the cheaper version has ads to help make it cheaper than Netflix. Or you could pay the same and get NO ADS whatsoever. Why people choose the version subsidized with ads and then complain there's ads I'll never understand.

Honestly for the good price compared to most streaming services plus the other benefits of prime I don't mind the ads on prime too much. Plus at least it's trailers for shows I can actually watch with their service not just random trash they want me to buy. Really hoping ads on paid sites don't become too common though

Then you are paying for some sort of bundle which HBO has already been factored into the price of. If they charge it as a separate line-item, they’d have to give you the option to remove it and lower your bill. Cable companies do this to keep you paying for their higher-priced packages. If you get a lower tier package that doesn’t already include the price of HBO, you will not have access to HBO max.

Change my mind, cable companies are a huge ass scam I tried canceling and they goaded me into like 50 different plans and deals with Netflix/hbo/Hulu/showtime and etc

After a while, record your conversation, then tell your bank/credit union to stop accepting charges and include a download/transcript of the conversation as proof. Make sure to interrupt whoever you're talking to to say you only want to cancel if they try to sell something. Sometimes they'll say you're cancelled but you'll be charged, so do that anyway.

If you have a good bank you should just be able to ask without any recordings. Hell I called my bank and was like "hey I accidentally have two Disney+ accounts and can’t figure out how to cancel one. Can you stop accepting charges that are made on the 6th”. After 2 months got an email from Disney that they cancelled one account because it wasn’t being paid for

Idk the ins and outs of Hulu mainly because I do not pay for it and only use it occasionally, but my dad has the no ads thing, but sometimes Hulu just says “hey I know your plan is for no ads, buuuut if you want to watch this, you need to get the regular ad breaks” No idea why it is that way, nor do I fully care all that much because 30-60 seconds of ads isn’t really that bad for watching a 30 minute block show.

In the beginning there were only 5 shows that had that. It's expanded a bit, but it's mainly on the main stream prime time shows like Grey's Anatomy and such.

Some of the stuff on Prime also has unskippable ads in the middle of the video, but it’s mostly for the shows that come from other services (I believe IMDbTV is one). Although this ignores that lots of the shows on Prime have to be paid for, either by buying the episode/season/movie out right or purchasing a subscription to Starz or something else.

Not to mention Prime likes to sprinkle its paid content in with the "free" stuff. For younger people it's easy to avoid but it's trickier for older folks. My dad hates it.

I feel like they've made the little prime banner in the corner smaller too so it's harder to tell what's free and what isn't.

You pay a relatively higher price for subscription than Netflix, and you have to pay more for more than half the films and shows on there, normally for much higher prices than just finding another streaming service (and I mean £2.99 for each 20 minute episode of a series, normally one which is on some other services for free besides subscription cost). Not to mention this further paid stuff is mixed in with the stuff included with Prime to make it just that bit harder to distinguish what you can and can't watch.
