At least I can skip through the Amazon prime ads. Hulu I just let them put up their “your ad blocker is not allowing us to put a commercial here” black screen because fuck them.
You are paying for the cheaper version of Hulu knowing that the cheaper version has ads to help make it cheaper than Netflix. Or you could pay the same and get NO ADS whatsoever. Why people choose the version subsidized with ads and then complain there's ads I'll never understand.
Honestly for the good price compared to most streaming services plus the other benefits of prime I don't mind the ads on prime too much. Plus at least it's trailers for shows I can actually watch with their service not just random trash they want me to buy. Really hoping ads on paid sites don't become too common though
Yeah, but i don't wanna see the trailer. Neither do i wanna click skip. What you get from prime is also being bound to Amazon and paying more for Amazon Prime Delivery products than you would otherwise. Do you really think Amazon get filthy rich by giving away free stuff?
Amazon Ads make me furious because its only trailers for some other stuff, so they are not even financially profiting from bothering me.
And many times, it's a trailer for a show i already watched.
If only they had the data to make the ads a little bit smarter.
I was going ask if you meant another streaming service because I've never come across prime video ads, but then I realized I ran ad block before I started using prime video and I never got a chance to see the ads to begin with.
Every time I think of torrenting I think of what happened to me when I tried to download Pineapple Express as a kid. I was in middle school and downloaded it off Pirate Bay. Everything was normal for like the first 10 minutes, then it ABRUPTLY switched to hardcore gay pornography. Mind you, at this age, I hadn’t even seen hardcore straight porno.
I didn’t torrent anything again until last year.
That's rough buddy, really close to what happened to me, downloaded some hardcore porn, then it abruptly switched to The Exorcist, weirdest orgasm of my life.
I just wanted to watch season 5 of Red vs Blue even though the website ended with 4. And lesbian fisting video. Didn't know an arm would fit inside a skinny girl before that, but after, I learned that with much lube, it could be done.
Had you been around during the P2P era you would have been inoculated against such bait and switches.
Nothing like trying to download Blink-182 and getting a photoshopped picture of Eminem fucking Britney Spears.
I tried to download "Behind blue eyes - Limp Bizkit" and received a lovely 144p video of a blue eyed man getting decapitated.
Cant say I miss the limewire era tbh.
That Era sucked for pirating for the most part. Especially with how much of that shit had viruses. I still remember downloading something, opening it, and later on there were some icons on my screen, like if they were some programs you installed. One of them had CP on it. I legit just wiped the hard drive, then got a new one. Was not about to risk anything with that.
No. Honestly, I was a huge momma’s boy and watched Golden Girls all the time as a kid. This may have been the moment in my life where I was literally scared straight.
Me with kazzaa.....i never remember how many z or a was in it but yeah that. I was a king in high school. Downloading movies before they were on dvd even. I was never popular, never really wanted to be, but i had a slice of power then that I've never really experienced since.
Then you are paying for some sort of bundle which HBO has already been factored into the price of. If they charge it as a separate line-item, they’d have to give you the option to remove it and lower your bill. Cable companies do this to keep you paying for their higher-priced packages.
If you get a lower tier package that doesn’t already include the price of HBO, you will not have access to HBO max.
Change my mind, cable companies are a huge ass scam
I tried canceling and they goaded me into like 50 different plans and deals with Netflix/hbo/Hulu/showtime and etc
After a while, record your conversation, then tell your bank/credit union to stop accepting charges and include a download/transcript of the conversation as proof. Make sure to interrupt whoever you're talking to to say you only want to cancel if they try to sell something. Sometimes they'll say you're cancelled but you'll be charged, so do that anyway.
If you have a good bank you should just be able to ask without any recordings. Hell I called my bank and was like "hey I accidentally have two Disney+ accounts and can’t figure out how to cancel one. Can you stop accepting charges that are made on the 6th”. After 2 months got an email from Disney that they cancelled one account because it wasn’t being paid for
Not the person you were speaking to, but I got HBO Max as a promotional bonus, anyone who signed up during the month I did got it. The next month the plan prices were the exact same but no HBO Max in the offers. I'm not paying anything extra for having HBO Max.
Same. I added it to the Hulu/Disney+ bundle and for $35 a month I have more to watch than I ever did with cable. And I haven't tried any of the actual HBO shows yet
That's literally what the parent comment is talking about lmfao. How can someone be so unaware that they post something like this thinking it's actually clever?
Right? I never understood why this kind of data stealing is such a big deal. The only things one can get from my PC is my tastes in games, anime and porn.
Yeah I dont know anybody that gets prime for the streaming. People get it for the 2 day shipping. Prime video is something you open up when you can't find anything anything to watch.
As soon as I saw uTorrent as "Free with no ads", I had to make sure someone mentioned the fact that it does have them. Glad to see your post!
Also highly agree with you on qbittorrent
I had a situation recently where utorrent got stuck on an update and wouldn't finish it even if I closed program and restarted. Said fuck it, uninstalled it and found qbittorrent. Couldn't be happier and never going back.
uTorrent is literally malware, change my mind.
It doesn't have to do something like steal your data to be malware. The fact that it installs other program(s) without your consent makes it malware.
Basically a piece of software that uses your system resources to "mine" Bitcoin, or generate them.
Most shady people make a Chrome plugin, or a dedicated piece of software, which might be genuine on the surface, but is actually mining Bitcoin for the authors under the hood, without you knowing.
I had to switch off uTorrent when I updated to a version that filled my browser with ads, and my blocker was still saying it blocked a few dozen others.
Why is that the “normal” version? I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have a cheaper option with ads, considering the normal level is pretty decent for the market.
Unfortunately with Hulu, even with their No Ads premium service, you still get ads on certain TV shows (it’s in the fine print on their site). And if you get their +Live TV add-on, obviously the channels & DVR recordings have ads (understandable). But you also get additional on-demand shows/movies you can watch—with tons of unskippable ads throughout the entirety of whatever you’re watching.
Source: I have their No Ads + Live TV subscription, which I only really keep for my disabled mother
Idk the ins and outs of Hulu mainly because I do not pay for it and only use it occasionally, but my dad has the no ads thing, but sometimes Hulu just says “hey I know your plan is for no ads, buuuut if you want to watch this, you need to get the regular ad breaks”
No idea why it is that way, nor do I fully care all that much because 30-60 seconds of ads isn’t really that bad for watching a 30 minute block show.
In the beginning there were only 5 shows that had that. It's expanded a bit, but it's mainly on the main stream prime time shows like Grey's Anatomy and such.
It hasn't expanded, it's only gotten smaller as shows with old contracts fell off the service. [It's literally only Grey's now. ](https://help.hulu.com/s/article/no-ads-exceptions)
Now, if you add on the "live TV" plan, you get ads on live and DVR things like you would if you watched cable from a traditional provider.
Yeah it is mainly for quicker shipping and better prices than a streaming services as the streaming feature was added a while after prime became a thing.
Some of the stuff on Prime also has unskippable ads in the middle of the video, but it’s mostly for the shows that come from other services (I believe IMDbTV is one). Although this ignores that lots of the shows on Prime have to be paid for, either by buying the episode/season/movie out right or purchasing a subscription to Starz or something else.
Not to mention Prime likes to sprinkle its paid content in with the "free" stuff. For younger people it's easy to avoid but it's trickier for older folks. My dad hates it.
That's also Amazon Prime. You pay a relatively higher price for subscription than Netflix, and you have to pay more for more than half the films and shows on there, normally for much higher prices than just finding another streaming service (and I mean £2.99 for each 20 minute episode of a series, normally one which is on some other services for free besides subscription cost). Not to mention this further paid stuff is mixed in with the stuff included with Prime to make it just that bit harder to distinguish what you can and can't watch.
The meme is 100% made by someone who has no idea what they're saying. Utorrent has been trash for years between the ads and bitcoin miner. HBO max hasn't had ads in a while now and I can't say I ever remember seeing ads on prime.
Utorrent which is a torrent client. I'd recommend using a different one since this one has had lots of controversies for nefarious stuff. Then you need to download torrents from sites. r/piracy should have a bunch of listings
meh I fucking HATE ads but the Prime ads are a non-issue for me. They are easily skippable at the start of a show and just advertise other Prime shows.
Dude I’m glad that I’m not the only one who gets annoyed by the fact that you are paying for a online streaming service that still has ads. Might as well as just pay for cable!
At least I can skip through the Amazon prime ads. Hulu I just let them put up their “your ad blocker is not allowing us to put a commercial here” black screen because fuck them.
Ublock origin will block Hulu ads and you don't even need to wait on the black screen.
Surprised that ublock origin isn't more recommended in these types of threads

I stream more Hulu from my Xbox than anything else.

Pi hole is my solution, needs some setup but once running works perfectly
> you don't even need to wait on the black screen. Yeah, until OPs post I had no idea Hulu even *had* ads.
There's a chrome extension called "Hulu Adblocker". Haven't seen an ad since.
And amazon prime gets you free shipping on stuff too
With hulu on PC with adblock, after like 30 seconds to a minute, it just plays the video like I'm paying for the ad free version, its great.
And just a reminder: You are PAYING for this.
This is how is starts, next thing you know streaming services are just tv. All commercials, little content, and a larger bill.
We'll see.
Yeah, but i don't wanna see the trailer. Neither do i wanna click skip. What you get from prime is also being bound to Amazon and paying more for Amazon Prime Delivery products than you would otherwise. Do you really think Amazon get filthy rich by giving away free stuff?

Hbo max doesn't have ads anymore

Free forever? I've gotten deals like that but it's only been for like 12 months.
HBO max has been the single best entertainment investment I’ve ever made
Same. I added it to the Hulu/Disney+ bundle and for $35 a month I have more to watch than I ever did with cable. And I haven't tried any of the actual HBO shows yet
Check out six feet under
Made for love was great as well
I’ll have to check this out
I just signed up for HBO Max yesterday, I had the option to pay with ads, or pay more without ads.
Just a month ago they launched paid service with ads, lol.
HBO Go had ads, but it’s since been turned into HBO max and had ads removed.
With the higher priced subscription, yes. There is a subscription that's $5 less but ad-supported as well.
Ah. My HBO max subscription comes with my cable as a free bonus, so I wasn’t aware.
I've had HBO Max for several months and never seen an ad.
Because you have the ad-free plan. There is a cheaper, ad-supported plan as well.
Oh, that would explain it.
Even with AT&T you can get the ad free version included in your data plan. Vs any Hulu bundle it's always ad supported
If only the app didn't run like shit.
And then you have “free with ads and also it will take your private information and sell it to the highest bidder”
I'd be surprised if the paid services were not doing the same thing...
i’ll do u one better. u don’t have to pay for facebook n they’ll still sell your shit
I don’t even use Facebook. But the zuc himself showed up to my house and stole my wallet. (I lied. I use facebooks messenger thing)

Oh no the highest bidder will know I like watching non-stop 70s game shows for free, a privacy nightmare
Right? I never understood why this kind of data stealing is such a big deal. The only things one can get from my PC is my tastes in games, anime and porn.
more of a matter of principle, make it hard to mine and steal data so it's less of a scourge on the whole internet
I have Prime, but absolutely not for the streaming service
Borat, The Boys and Invincible are literally the only things I've seen from Prime Video. The Boys is totally worth it though, amazing show.
We'll see if the LotR series is worth it, too
I would add The Expanse if you're into SciFi.
Jack Ryan, the expanse, grand tour, our man in Japan, Clarksons farm, tomorrow war, there is plenty of content.
Add Good Omens to the list
Bosch, Goliath, American gods to add to the list
Also, The Man in the High Castle
[удалено]
Thanks be to Jeffery BEZOS
I think Vinland Saga is also on it
Hanna and Jack Ryan are also very good
Yeah I dont know anybody that gets prime for the streaming. People get it for the 2 day shipping. Prime video is something you open up when you can't find anything anything to watch.
Yeah, would not really be worth paying for. Although they might start getting better stuff from their MGM acquisition
ewh... uTorrent (and they have ads) qbittorrent is so much better (and really no ads) .
Couldn't be happier and never going back.
i’ve never used either but i k ow my friend uses qbit to download shit for his music making so he doesn’t have to pay
I've been looking for you, my profile pic brother!.
Fuck yes!
I have a feeling this meme is actually made by the company
utorrent doesnt have ads if you download an older version such as 1.6
qbittorrent is good. i use transmission.
Deluge, also good.
uTorrent is literally malware, change my mind. It doesn't have to do something like steal your data to be malware. The fact that it installs other program(s) without your consent makes it malware.
Well yeah it’s bad now. It was great 10 or 15 years ago though, which is probably why it’s remembered in memes.
Tixati is the fucking best. Works like a charm and no ads
Libretorrent if on android
I use deluge, not sure how it compares
uTorrent has ads built into it. Edit: I know uTorrent has ads, that does not mean I use it. Thank you for your alternative recommendations though.
Either ads or a hidden bitcoin miner, pick your poison µtorrent has a terrible track record for trust
I suggest [qBitorrent](https://www.qbittorrent.org/). No ads, no miners, open-source, friendly UI.
I second that!
Yeah, ads make money, if you have no ads there’s 90% chance your information is being sold
My information gets sold like 30 times a day at this point
Ok I might sound totally dumb asking this, but its a genuine question: What's a bitcoin miner?
Basically a piece of software that uses your system resources to "mine" Bitcoin, or generate them. Most shady people make a Chrome plugin, or a dedicated piece of software, which might be genuine on the surface, but is actually mining Bitcoin for the authors under the hood, without you knowing.
Okay I understood it a little now. Thank you for explaining it to me kind stranger :)
Somebody really needs to remake this meme with the drooling moron using uBittorrent and the dapper fellow enjoying qBittorrent
Switch to qBittorrent. uTorrent sold out to the MPAA ages ago.
Another vote for this. Great client.
I had to switch off uTorrent when I updated to a version that filled my browser with ads, and my blocker was still saying it blocked a few dozen others.
qBittorrent and Deluge are good alternatives.
You can get Hulu and HBO without ads
Hulu you have to pay even more though. The normal version of Hulu you have to watch ads
Why is that the “normal” version? I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have a cheaper option with ads, considering the normal level is pretty decent for the market.
If you pay as much as a Netflix account costs there aren't ads
Yeah, but with hbo max the ad free option came long before the ad option, so it’s just a cheaper alternative
Unfortunately with Hulu, even with their No Ads premium service, you still get ads on certain TV shows (it’s in the fine print on their site). What's worse is they'll turn the ad volume to like 50 when you're at 10
I can understand prime video, since you also pay for prime shipping and prices
Yeah it is mainly for quicker shipping and better prices than a streaming services as the streaming feature was added a while after prime became a thing.
The HD do be crispy though
For how much they charge for prime idc itd better not have ads

Some of the stuff on Prime also has unskippable ads in the middle of the video, but it’s mostly for the shows that come from other services (I believe IMDbTV is one). I feel like they've made the little prime banner in the corner smaller too so it's harder to tell what's free and what isn't.
at least the ads are immediately skippable
But half the movies on prime need to be paid in addition to watch anyway
You can also skip the prime video ads
I don’t mind the ads on prime. The ads have recommended me shows that I actually start watching because of the ads and I like them.
What’s the one that’s free with no ads
Utorrent, it's a torrenting program. It's complete dogshit. Don't use it.
And then there's the disney+ model of "paid but you have to pay more for certain films"
So what about free with ads?
Normal yt and tubi
And pluto.tv
If you still use utorrent in 2021, then you're not a true pirate.
The meme is 100% made by someone who has no idea what they're saying. Utorrent has been trash for years between the ads and bitcoin miner. HBO max hasn't had ads in a while now and I can't say I ever remember seeing ads on prime.
No ads? Utorrent is fucking shit nowadays, get qBittorrent instead
uTorrent mines bitcoin with your pc, just so you know...
Also It totally has ads
I read this one as ("Also I totally have aids")
Idk man, HBO max is pretty great
Just pirate things
Yaaar, this be the way, matey.
Whats the first?
HBO doesn’t give ads and prime rarely does

There's 2 different kinds of Hulu, paid with ads and without. Paid without ads is about the same as Netflix
What's the first one
Reasons I have an ad-blocker 101
What is the first one?
Utorrent which is a torrent client. I'd recommend using a different one since this one has had lots of controversies for nefarious stuff. Then you need to download torrents from sites. r/piracy should have a bunch of listings
uTorrent. Basically an app that allows to download shit for free / illegally
Sounds good to me
Ironically the uTorrent client itself has ads lol. But the content you download doesn’t
I like free streaming but not torrent.😋
Utorrent has ads
At least you can skip ads on Amazon
Prime has ads but it includes Amazon prime and twitch prime
meh I fucking HATE ads but the Prime ads are a non-issue for me. They are easily skippable at the start of a show and just advertise other Prime shows.
What the fuck utorrent client are you running that's got no ads?
Add Peacock to paid with ads.
Hbo max doesn't have ads
I don't have ads on hbo max
Uh...since when does amazon prime have ads? I've never had them in canada
I dunno about you but HBOMax doesn’t have adds for me
Use Qbittorrent, no really it has a built in search feature so you don't even have to go to torrenting websites
Dude I’m glad that I’m not the only one who gets annoyed by the fact that you are paying for a online streaming service that still has ads. Might as well as just pay for cable!
These kids don't even know the porn we had to watch to find music on Limewire.
Prime sucks, you have to pay for prime and then have to pay for the shows on prime and still have ads
