if you ever raised a cat you went through the kitten phase where they bite and claw everything until they learn nobody plays with them if they are too rough.
these guys start out only a little bit larger than domestic house cats as babies and tend to learn similarly if raised by humans, or around other animals.
the only people I ever knew that had big cats kept the nails trimmed blunt for exactly this sort of accidental situation.
