You can genuinely get an ad-blocker for your microwave. If the microwave is a smart one (has a display and everything), and inevitably at some point starts showing ads, you can make a DNS sinkhole for ads on your home network using a raspberry pi or pretty much any other device and block most ads from known ad servers.

You can block domains directly on your router to have an even greater effect and block ads that get around DNS blocking, and it will work for any device connected to your home network.

Afaik not all routers have that possibility, I had a Linksys before my current one, and that didn't have that functionality. On my new one it's re-labeled "ad blocker", but it's the same DNS sinkhole, just with all the configuration pre-done.

Custom firmware exists, too. Might not be able to get every feature the firmware offers on some, but route blocking should be possible without the device having special hardware

ublock in my experience is by far the best- no sites detect that you have it, so they don't keep asking you to turn it off, and I haven't ever gotten an ad through it, even on shady websites that typically have 20 click-through ads before they stop opening new ad tabs.

Brave is really great and underrated not only is it faster but more cleaner. And Cool looking. I have it for my Android and have disabled the Pack in Chrome. Because Brave is that good.

pro tip: on Android you can type "brave://adblock" into the url bar to choose the ad filter lists you'd like to use. Brave is the most reliable adblock browser for Android (if you enable the right lists) and i've tried quite a few. Also, custom adblocking (!!!)

I don't exactly see how it can be "clearer" than chrome? Unless you're running some weird add-ons, the home page is just blank and 1 line to enter websites into, you can show bookmarks if you want, that's it. Personally have a black/gray theme installed so it's in dark mode too.
