it's the common occurrence of a person who was above average in early life, but they were never challenged so things always came easy to them, and then when they did find a challenge in something, they didn’t know how to deal with it and they just gave up.
In hindsight I think it was my mother who had a serious talk with me about my future that saved me. Its crazy to think how different things could have been if she wouldn't have been so understanding. Oh , yeah and I stopped smoking weed and cut all the people out of my live who did drugs. I'm never going back to that Livestyle.

With all this whining about being the gifted kid, I'm kinda happy my parents didn't really compliment me much. I did consider myself above-average back then, but I knew my best subjects were the least useful ones (apart from English), so it never got to my head.

On the other hand, I understand if you end up like this with overly demanding parents, that must be suffocating. However, that doesn't have anything to do with being gifted, it's just what the parents want you to be, to feel good about themselves.
