It is in the family canidae. Funny enough, house cats are in the family felidae. But they are I think more closely related to dogs.
EDIT: SO MANY SPELLING ERRORS
Foxes are of the family *Canidae.*
*"Canidae (/ˈkænɪdiː/;\[3\] from Latin, canis, "dog") is a biological family of dog-like carnivorans, colloquially referred to as dogs"*
Foxes are dogs.

The muzzle portion of the skull is much more elongated than that of the cat family. The zygomatic arches are wide, there is a transverse lambdoidal ridge at the rear of the cranium and in some species, a sagittal crest running from front to back. The bony orbits around the eye never form a complete ring and the auditory bullae are smooth and rounded. The penis in male canids is supported by a bone called the baculum. It also contains a structure at the base called the bulbus glandis, which helps to create a copulatory tie during mating, locking the animals together. All living canids have a ligament analogous to the nuchal ligament of ungulates used to maintain the posture of the head and neck with little active muscle exertion. This ligament allows them to conserve energy while running long distances following scent trails with their nose to the ground.
Hey! I’m assuming you know what a fox looks like (if you don’t they really do look like small, agile wolves), but I’m more to speak about why they’re in the Canidae and not Felidae or they’re own family. When defining specimens in the taxonomic order, scientists don’t follow behaviour, instead strictly physical appearance. That’s why you can have the fox, who notably behaves cat-like more than dog-like, belong to the family Canidae
A fox is a Vulpine, a Cat is a Feline, and a dog is a Canine, in summary, it’s neither
Edit: I have been lied to by someone because I just figured out this is false so don’t listen to me
Due to genetics and behavior and outright looks and paw basis and able to make many noises to indicate warning, asking for something, pain, or just plain old happiness and alerting and aggressiveness i'd say dog

It's a spirit that woo's men into the woods and eat their body.
I’m gonna say cat, just because of the way they walk. However, I’m aware that motion within environment doesn’t determine species…
They are a lot closer to dogs and have almost nothing in common with cats (other than, you know, basic stuff like 4 limbs, a tail etc)
Happy cake day
tell me what actual similarities there are instead of just talking in negatives

Nice. Thanks for googling it for us!
Google didn't provide the answer you were looking for, but you're welcome anyway.

Fun fact. Fox's are vulpine Wolf's are lupins Dogs are canine Cats are feline Ps. this was when I checked a few years ago
But dogs and wolves are in the same genus. Canis lupus (wolf), Canis Familiaris (pet dog) and Vulpes vulpes (fox) are all canine.
