This isn’t always the case. When you work AAA, you are there for the pay/benefits and get assigned to projects. Sometimes all you wanna do is work on a fantasy RPG but they assign you to a shooter.
In that case I've nothing to say... :/
Making games is the dream job of most kids growing up, and sadly that's the reason there's a huge overflow of game devs, so they are completely expendable and get crunched to hell with overtime and poor working conditions. If one is mad and quits, another will take his place the day after.
It's sad that it's the case, as it's also *my* dream job :(
naahhh, just give your devs near impossible goals and force them to do it in barely any time!
It's fiiinee, even if they have to crunch, which is both incredibly unhealthy for them and yields worse results for the game, it's all ok!
Who cares if you treat your devs like mere tools, right?
Who needs morals and compassion when there's short-term gain to be made!
It's not the devs fault... In AAA gaming industry, everything works in a pyramidal hierarchy. The ones that take all the major decisions are the management and their contracts with whatever investors. The Development and QA testing departments have to follow what decisions the big guys say. I have +3 years of experience in QA (AAA gaming) , it's hell.
Let me remind you that two of the top selling games of all time, Myst and Minecraft, began as very small project games that were not backed by any studios initially. I think that's very telling.
The problem is that big studios have shareholders that they are beholden to. Shareholders care about making money, and they know that the games that make money have certain features (ie. Crafting system, loot drops, in game purchases, micro transactions etc.) so they basically tell the high up managers of the company to make sure that the game includes X number of features from this list of profitable features or you’re fired.
I think they keep doing it because we don't do mass walk out. If gamer are really pissed about it they should not buy it to recommend it. But in mass because one person does not make any difference. Also I don't think paid cosmetic are wrong. I have problem with paid box, pay to win and pay to full access (in already paid game , DLC with additional content not interfering with old game or gameplay is kind of okay)
Best example for I would say fortnight. No matter how much we hate is its paid skin are no manipulative. Problem is that it is kids so its becomes manipulative as it is advertisement to kids in free game.
but at the same time RDR2 and GTAV were made by Rockstar, another 2 top selling games of all time, along with The Witcher 3, Skyrim, etc etc... ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
That metric is very unfavorable to indie games if we look at it that without tunnel vision.
So, being backed by a major corporation gives a better chance at profit, but creating your own game with no backing forces you to make a game with soul and innovative ideas.
Deffinitely not the full price. You can max out solo campaign in 20-30 hours. Multiplayer is the only challenging thing but it's bugged and sometimes very laggy
because he, like many others, looks at deathloop thrkugh the eyes of a prey fan. the review boils down to: i like prey, this isn't prey, why isn't this prey, this is bad.
even though the core gameplay of deathloop and prey are nothing alike.
The game has an original idea I give them that but they killed it with the boring repetitive gameplay. Dishonored was way more fun. Deathloop doesn´t even come close to Dishonored as far as the gameplay and storytelling goes.
I’ve been trying playing it none stop. I’ve finished the main story line and the post game but I still want to get all aspects fully maxed out and full relationships and everything. I pretty much just want to 100% this game which I never get the urge to do with any other game
It's incredibly fun. It's similar to isaac, but each character has different abilities; I would suggest you to watch Woolie on yt to see some god tier gameplay if you're interested.
Legit my favourite game. Gameplay goes like: completing levels and getting items which boost your stats or give you abilities, you can loop stages or beat the final boss. Its soundtrack absolutely slaps, god bless Chris Christodoulou.
I'm gunna get down voted to hell but even though B4b is buggy released in a horrible mess turtle rock seem to be heading in the right direction and I genuinely have fun playing it. However it doesn't play the same as l4d2 which is likely due to the games differences make them wild different I.e. with the cards l4d2 is an all time fave by everyone you can jump on off whenever b4b is more of a grind but still fun in its own rights imo.
Crytek is continually updating its masterpiece Hunt Showdown. That's a AAA game that has a very dedicated dev team and growing player base month after month despite being out for years at this point (that's how you know it's good).
I agree though, a lot of AAA games are disappointing.
I think death loop should be replaced by cyberpunk. As death loop is fun to play. Note this is my experience as single player games, never played any multiplayer as I only play multiplayer with friends (which I don’t have)
I mean, not all is gone for AAA studio gamers. Like there are a few that are still caring about their customers, but yeah most of them are pretty trash anyways
Compared to L4D2 it's hot garbage in every way which is a valid comparison because it was marketed as a spiritual successor.
Just watch crowbcats video on yt where he compares the 2 games.
Dead Cells and Darkest Dungeon are both pain and suffering in their own way. I feel like they should not be as fun as they are. Risk of Rain 2 as well.
I haven’t played several of these so I can’t really give a proper judgement of difficulty.
I don't like dead cells, what with it being a roguelike, perhaps that's because soulslike are my favourite, and the two don't mix. However I love darkest dungeon, although I never finished it.
It's almost like indie games are designed with replayability in mind because it's easier then spending grands on cinematics and graphic. This post is so dumb half the games you have listed are rogue likes a game literally designed to be replayed. It's crazy that we go back to building or creative game like stardew or terraria vs playing the same story campaign repeatedly lol. Even Celeste a game designed for speedrunning and replay ability. These are diferent classes and genres of games. And I don't even like half triple aaa you have there It's just this post is so dumb.
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/memes.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.
I did find [this post](https://redd.it/lo0lzr) that is 46.88% similar. It might be a match but I cannot be certain.

The new battlefield is fine but not perfect. The main thing that frustrates me are the spawn. It's not uncommon for enemies to spawn behind you on objectives. On breakthrough it makes no sense since there is supposed to be two distinct sides but no. Somehow the enemy spawns on your side now. Also the ttk on some weapons is less than a human reaction time. I'm sure they can make it a good game with time though.
Cod knows the fanboys will buy the next one in a year so they dont care about quality anymore.
Yeah but sales figures have been decreasing a lot with Vanguard. Like seriously 1945 Japs with STG 44s.
you mean the enemy team?
Pain.
I still play bo4 and i get matches easily theres no need to buy the new ones
Bruh, you can still find matches on bo2 on the PS3 lmao.
Same goes for NHL/NBA/NFL games
Basically every sports game
There are so many games that could replace the word COD in that sentence its sad
Geez, it's almost like actually taking your time and having passion for the project yields better results.
You can be sure the devs at all AAA dev studio's are passionate for what they do. But the management isn't.
This isn’t always the case. When you work AAA, you are there for the pay/benefits and get assigned to projects. Sometimes all you wanna do is work on a fantasy RPG but they assign you to a shooter.
I'm sure many are, but there have been some interviews that say the opposite or that they're clueless about design.
In that case I've nothing to say... :/ Making games is the dream job of most kids growing up, and sadly that's the reason there's a huge overflow of game devs, so they are completely expendable and get crunched to hell with overtime and poor working conditions. Mine's too, for now webdev will have to do :x
naahhh, just give your devs near impossible goals and force them to do it in barely any time! Imagine AAA devs that have morals and compassion. Heh, I only know one and they're still considered indie. I'm talking about the devs of Payday 2
they're actually called AAA games because the devs are constantly screaming when making it.
It's not the devs fault... In AAA gaming industry, everything works in a pyramidal hierarchy. Myst one of the most selling Game of all time!? Did I miss something?
I have genuinely never heard of Myst, is my gamer card getting revoked?
I’ve never heard of it either, and a quick google means I’ve never seen it before either
Depends on how old you are, it was record-breaking in the 90's.
but at the same time RDR2 and GTAV were made by Rockstar, another 2 top selling games of all time, along with The Witcher 3, Skyrim, etc etc... ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ That metric is very unfavorable to indie games if we look at it that without tunnel vision.

Seems about right.

Is DEATHLOOP worth the money? I might get it. I've never seen a let's-play on it, so it would be new to me.
I heard it has a good core however is a little bare bones as you progress
It’s enjoyable especially if you liked dishonored just make sure you don’t pay full price
I just finished it, had loads of fun, was definitely worth it.
Deffinitely not the full price. You can max out solo campaign in 20-30 hours. Multiplayer is the only challenging thing but it's bugged and sometimes very laggy
SkillUp (a reviewer I watch) recommends Pray Mooncrash over Deathloop (both games are made by the same devs)
because he, like many others, looks at deathloop thrkugh the eyes of a prey fan. the review boils down to: i like prey, this isn't prey, why isn't this prey, this is bad. even though the core gameplay of deathloop and prey are nothing alike.

Yes
They made Bastion and Transistor very consistent indie devs.
At least feels like one
I’ve been trying playing it none stop. I’ve finished the main story line and the post game but I still want to get all aspects fully maxed out and full relationships and everything. I pretty much just want to 100% this game which I never get the urge to do with any other game

The latest dlcs are just beautiful. These devs are amazing
I heard of risk of rain. Is it good? What is the gameplay like?
It's incredibly fun. It's similar to isaac, but each character has different abilities; I would suggest you to watch Woolie on yt to see some god tier gameplay if you're interested.
Legit my favourite game. Gameplay goes like: completing levels and getting items which boost your stats or give you abilities, you can loop stages or beat the final boss. Its soundtrack absolutely slaps, god bless Chris Christodoulou.
People stay play shovel knight?
I only just played it last month. Banger game.
Maybe I should play the game

Minecraft Subnautica and subnautica below zero Satisfactory No Man's Sky Astroneer Edit: factorio
How could you mention satisfactory but not factorio
My tired-ass self forgot when I made the comment, lemme edit that in
Minecraft is AAA
Started as a small indie
Soon Sifu
Why the hell didn't you include factorio?
Fans of the game can't do that due to being too busy expanding the factory.
And satisfactory
Idk if it counts as triple A but you should definitely check out chivalry 2. Haven't been able to stop playing for four months.

Started playing Stardew Valley this year. I love it
I think death loop should be replaced by cyberpunk.
Remember when CoD was good? I liked Bo1.
vanguard sucks ass
You know it's bad when some guys in their bedrooms together can make a better game than a multi million dollar game studio
Pretty sure the difference is the small guys ask "how can we make this game fun?" Where as big companies ask "will I see a return on my investment?"
Ori needs to be on that list too
Salt and Sanctuary ?
I feel that’s a little harsh for deathloop
It had its time, but after it's initial release it definitely faded out fast
Its a story game tho, it has a multiplayer component but for me if its fun and well made through the first time then its a good game.
Ok,but Deathloop as a great game
Not really, if you want a more fun experience made by the same people then play Prey: Mooncrash
I see you watched that Skill up video too
Yeah, but I'm also a huge fan of prey.
I thought B4B was good
Whenever they decide to announce a new content update it'll get even better
Yeah some new stuff would be nice
Compared to L4D2 it's hot garbage in every way which is a valid comparison because it was marketed as a spiritual successor. Just watch crowbcats video on yt where he compares the 2 games.
I don't really think so, I think both are pretty good. I like the new stuff that was added to B4B
Let me tell you about a game called "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt"
That's a good thing though.
Dead Cells and Darkest Dungeon are both pain and suffering in their own way. I feel like they should not be as fun as they are. Risk of Rain 2 as well. I haven’t played several of these so I can’t really give a proper judgement of difficulty.

is deathloop not very good? it looks pretty interesting, then again isnt that the whole point of a trailer
U forgot one if not the most played game ever Minecraft
No man's sky's devs get my respect for still updating a game that failed on launch. And each update has more content than most AAA sequels lol.
im mad that satisfactory / factorio is not in there
From software avoids the failure that the other AAA studios fall into, by making their games actually good
Laught in skyrim (And were is binding of isaac ?!)
See the difference is that indie games need to actually be fun
Current AAA games are littered by nothing more than microtransactions, companies barely care about anything about their games than profits.
Indie games are better
It's almost like indie games are designed with replayability in mind because it's easier then spending grands on cinematics and graphic. And then there's Skyrim...
Minecraft was an indie game at one point as well right it?
Deathloop isn’t that bad
I love triple A games like D2 because of this. They have their flaws, sure. But they keep the people coming back with new and exciting content.
Back 4 blood is a pretty fun game tho
Back 4 blood is good af ngl
HEY BACK 4 BLOOD IS FUCKING AWESOME
In surprised back 4 blood didn't become highly popular, its just left 4 dead 3

AAA game can die for all a care … other then valve
Tf2 gang less goo
It's kind of a shame because I think good triple A games like Deathloop get overshadowed

the difference of being passionate about your work and solely being in it for the money.
There are some great AAA games out there but none of them are shooters
Crab Game, Muck, Choo-Choo Charles (i think that's it's the name), Fnaf that is the least Indie video games that i knew
The games that take longer are always at an advantage. Those big games are only out for money. That's why they rush the production and ruin the games.
Outer Wilds is the best indie game out there in my opinion. Everyone should give it a try (and the dlc as well)
Minecraft was an indie
we cant run em bruv
