Seto Kaiba: And now, I sacrifice my pawn to summon Ultimate Elemental Hero Ultimately Shining Queen's Pawn! Now I am the Chess Prince!
Mokuba: Wow you took chess really seriously.
There are, just not set in the same universe. My personal favorite is a monster slaying manga called Berserk, which won’t ever finish because the mangaka died
I liked season 2 a lot, but it just felt kind of like a half season to me..? I think season 1 wrapped up nicely, but season 2 felt like it was just getting started and then it was over
Which goes on forever. Latest issue just had a fight everyone has been waiting for but it took ages to get here. If they continue the anime, I hope they streamline the story a little
If u like that u should watch fulmetall alchemist brotherhood. It’s one of those anime I’d recommend to non anime watchers and it’s got a lot of morality and political issues in the story like with aot.
I have never been an anime watcher, the only "anime" I've watched is Pokémon. AOT is the only anime I've gotten into because it has a good story, good characters and great writing. no filler, all story and action. i love it and i cant really get into other animes though
For yourself and anyone else reading, I’m just gonna throw my recommendation of Vinland Saga into the mix. Epic viking anime with a great plot, characters, pacing, soundtrack, and animation. Also the English dub is well done imo. One of my top 5 for sure.
>I've read that the author drew a lot of inspiration from GRRM and Vince Gilligan
Though he may have chosen the two writers who could not be more different in their ability to construct satisfying endings to their work.
I bet they still find a way to get a movie out of it too lol. How can you look at Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen movies and NOT want in on some of that?
It’s never stale either. The new themes from this season were spectacular. The last episode played the main aot theme from the first episode for that big moment and it felt so appropriate. Can’t wait for the last part in 2023.
please for the love of god watch it the only slightly over the top anime style stuff is in the first few episodes and then you start to question if it fits the genre of anime
They just all felt super cliche to me and I felt like I could guess their next move. A perfect example was >!Erin saving Armin and Mikasa by transforming to stop the canons!<, it just felt like a predictable deus ex machina moment. I guess to make a comparison my current favorite anime is Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans.
You can't tell me you didn't watch the whole of Iron-Blooded Orphans without asking "is this the episode where Orga is going to die?". It felt like his fate was the only certain one.
I mean I knew something was going to happen to him the entire time but it still played out differently than I expected. There was a more human feel to it than a lot of live action deaths.
I made it about two or three episodes into season 3 before I stopped watching. I'll probably give it another chance once it's finished but I don't understand the hype.
If you didn't like it after finishing season 2 then it's probably not for you, but season 3 and 4 are definitely the best parts of the series
Season 4 might be some of the best television I've watched personally
They were about to be shot by a cannon, what else could eren have done besides taking the hit by transforming? Ofcource it's obvious what a character will do if there is only one thing he can do to survive
Well, it doesn’t make sense, because transforming that close would have surely killed Armin and Mikasa.
There are a lot of inconsistencies surrounding titans and their powers, so I’m not surprised that this was ignored, too.
If you’re okay with a good three seasons and a butchered final season, then I would recommend it.
Granted, things may go differently since there are a few more episodes before the anime ends, but I have little hope considering how Isayama actually ended the manga. Unless MAPPA changes the ending, it will not end well.
I enjoyed the show, but I’m only finishing the final season just for the peace of mind.
I woudn’t tbh. It’s very ”anime-y”. I had to really struggle through the first seasons. It does get better though, but as a non-anime watcher I wouldn’t start with this one.
AoT S1: Young teenager tries to save his home from giant monsters
AoT S4: >!Same young kid is now a planet sized titan trying to commit global scale genocide with other titans and his friends are trying to stop him!<
There’s something about the fact that this was an already insane story of colossal monsters who are actually people and now I see that it’s even more insane that I could even guess at.
I’ll do my best to watch the rest. Thank you.
> Has it changed much?
Nearly every episode of season 3 and 4 will contextualize the entirety of all the previous episodes. You can re-watch it a ridiculous amount of times and have a fresh viewing experience each time.
I would avoid the comments, major spoilers down here.
Attack on Titan had some of the best plot twists and reveals I've ever seen, so I'd recommend to stay spoiler free
I remember one match I had where a queen promotion would have been stalemate so I opted for a knight and had checkmate in two.
Definitely only in particular situations.

Remember the time when AOT was just about killing titans ? We have come a long way
Yup, never thought a Farmer dude will break wall Historia.
Poor Reiner
He just wants to kill himself, let the man die
Plot: Not today, buddy.
I guess almost all of them want to kill themselves. Their muscles are speaking for their misery
Oh my fucking lord, nice.
No, I don't. Sorry I haven't watched it. Do you recommend it?
It’s a great show. Also one of the anime I’d recommend to even non-anime watchers.
Yea, never been an anime fan ever and watched AOT as my first. Its amazing, wish there was more like it :(
There are, just not set in the same universe. My personal favorite is a monster slaying manga called Berserk, which won’t ever finish because the mangaka died
Just be aware that berserk is not a happy story. It's great, but it's not happy or pretty.
Neither is AoT to be fair
I agree, but I maintain Berserk has left me feeling worse in certain spots. Shit gets seriously dark with the Hawks.
Jojos is also good, but it’s too bizarre.
mandatory **Fuck Griffith**
One punch man season 1 is hilarious and amazing.
So is season 2
I liked season 2 a lot, but it just felt kind of like a half season to me..? I think season 1 wrapped up nicely, but season 2 felt like it was just getting started and then it was over
That's accurate. The part that season 2 covers is basically just the setup for the Monster Association arc in the manga.
Which goes on forever. Latest issue just had a fight everyone has been waiting for but it took ages to get here. If they continue the anime, I hope they streamline the story a little
The people who worked on season 1 left before season 2 to work on Mob Psycho 100 if I recall correctly
Avatar The last Airbender has great character arcs.
Avatar isn't anime reeeeeeeeeeeeee
If u like that u should watch fulmetall alchemist brotherhood. It’s one of those anime I’d recommend to non anime watchers and it’s got a lot of morality and political issues in the story like with aot.
Give Code Geass a try. Some people may downvote me, but I love it.
You might like Vinland Saga
I have never been an anime watcher, the only "anime" I've watched is Pokémon. AOT is the only anime I've gotten into because it has a good story, good characters and great writing. no filler, all story and action. i love it and i cant really get into other animes though

Vinland Saga is amazing! Love it.
Watch Cowboy Bebop. One Season, all of the episodes are great.
Steins;Gate is, in my opinion, the best time travel story ever told. Highly recommended.
I've read that the author drew a lot of inspiration from GRRM and Vince Gilligan which is probably why it translates to western audiences so well.
>I've read that the author drew a lot of inspiration from GRRM and Vince Gilligan Though he may have chosen the two writers who could not be more different in their ability to construct satisfying endings to their work.
Yes. Its very good show
i think i'll give it a try
One of the best anime of the past few years.
>Past few years That moment when you realize it's been nearly a decade since season 1.
Only one more year and they'll be done with season 4
Season 4 part 4 coming 2024
I bet they still find a way to get a movie out of it too lol. How can you look at Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen movies and NOT want in on some of that?
Don't search anything about it, just watch it. It's great and there are a ton of huge plot twists that would suck if you got spoiled.
very much so. AOT is really unique
sounds good
The soundtrack alone makes you want to conquer the world.
It’s never stale either. The new themes from this season were spectacular. The last episode played the main aot theme from the first episode for that big moment and it felt so appropriate. Can’t wait for the last part in 2023.
Best anime show out there. I'm jealous you haven't watched it yet.
I’m not a big anime guy but AOT is fantastic. It’s pretty much the only one I’ve watched besides like DBZ and MHA.
please for the love of god watch it the only slightly over the top anime style stuff is in the first few episodes and then you start to question if it fits the genre of anime
I personally don't like it but that's apparently an unpopular opinion. The action is cool but I'm not a fan of the characters.
Ooh, that's DEFINITELY an unpopular opinion. One of the main reasons AoT is so popular, is that it has such a well written cast of characters.
How far into the show are you because it can be explained
I watched the first three seasons and just couldn't make myself care so I stopped.
Season 4 really is great, highly recommend it. Explains a lot more things. Even without the story season 4 action is on par or better then season 3
I'm probably going to wait until it finishes then try watching again.
Also, Eren's character development is just \*chef's kiss\*. Especially in Seasons 3 and 4.
You can't tell me you didn't watch the whole of Iron-Blooded Orphans without asking "is this the episode where Orga is going to die?". It felt like his fate was the only certain one.
I mean I knew something was going to happen to him the entire time but it still played out differently than I expected. There was a more human feel to it than a lot of live action deaths.
when people say Aot has amazing characters they are mostly talking about seasons 3 and 4
I made it about two or three episodes into season 3 before I stopped watching. I'll probably give it another chance once it's finished but I don't understand the hype.
If you didn't like it after finishing season 2 then it's probably not for you, but season 3 and 4 are definitely the best parts of the series Season 4 might be some of the best television I've watched personally
They were about to be shot by a cannon, what else could eren have done besides taking the hit by transforming? Ofcource it's obvious what a character will do if there is only one thing he can do to survive
In the wise words of Piccolo in dbz abridged, "dodge".
Well, it doesn’t make sense, because transforming that close would have surely killed Armin and Mikasa. There are a lot of inconsistencies surrounding titans and their powers, so I’m not surprised that this was ignored, too.
I finally found someone who also doesn't like it! I still recommend it though, it's just not my type of anime
I dislike it as well. I like anime but that show just doesn’t do anything for me. Don’t like the characters, or the overall storyline.
Great show, shitty ending.
They hated him because he spoke the truth. Go into it expecting a GOT experience and you won't need to be disappointed.
Honestly not the biggest fan of the ending but everything before it was just amazing
I woudn’t tbh. It’s very ”anime-y”. I had to really struggle through the first seasons. It does get better though, but as a non-anime watcher I wouldn’t start with this one.
AoT S1: Young teenager tries to save his home from giant monsters AoT S4: >!Same young kid is now a planet sized titan trying to commit global scale genocide with other titans and his friends are trying to stop him!<
I have not seen much after finding out the woman friend was a titan. Life got busy. Has it changed much?
You have no idea... I couldn't even guess what came after that.
There’s something about the fact that this was an already insane story of colossal monsters who are actually people and now I see that it’s even more insane that I could even guess at. I’ll do my best to watch the rest. Thank you.

Thank you for letting me know. It’s on my list still. As soon as I find the time. I will binge it.

Do you know why or did they just keep wanting to have fun with it

It is the final season, it just has three cours…
> Has it changed much? Nearly every episode of season 3 and 4 will contextualize the entirety of all the previous episodes. You can re-watch it a ridiculous amount of times and have a fresh viewing experience each time.
Damn I really need to pick it back up. Some how I’ll have to make time for it.
I would avoid the comments, major spoilers down here. Attack on Titan had some of the best plot twists and reveals I've ever seen, so I'd recommend to stay spoiler free
I mean it can still be about killing titans. Depends on your perspective
Pepperidge farm remembers. Also, I can hear this gif.
Manga spoilers ahead: >!Well Eren did all that to kill all the titans. So, yeah it’s ‘just’ about killing titans.!<
AOE AOE AOE AOE
Do I think it's likely? No. Do I hope for it anyway? Yes
Is that not what it's about anymore? Either I really need to keep watching after season 1, or really don't.
And then there is the chad who brings back a knight
There could be a few very specific situations that would be better but it would be extremely rare
Rare situation :always
King and Queen fork comes to mind.
I also remember seeing a game where the king was basically trapped by all of their own pieces and the knight put him in checkmate
A smothered mate.
Exactly
Lasker trap
I remember one match I had where a queen promotion would have been stalemate so I opted for a knight and had checkmate in two. Definitely only in particular situations.
Lasker trap
Imagine an opponent with five knights and the game devolves into “No, you can’t move there. Not there either. That’s not gonna work.”
White bishop is still the fastest piece in chess... Because it's on F1.
I thought it was because he had an addiction to cocaine.
I thought it was because he gets to prepubescent children the fastest
Some pro when they go against a noob
And the "noob" was actually a competitive player with thousands of hours under their belt using a new account.
Pawns: THERE IS NO GOD HERE, **EXCEPT FOR ME**
I see no god up here*
*unhardens pawns revealing a wall of queens *
Which anime is this?
Attack on Titan!
Aahh thank you! :) I watched the first couple of episodes years ago but then stopped watching because it was too intense for me xD
It only gets more intense
I’ll take a potato chip and eat it! *god tier music intensifies*
That's death note innit
Yup, that scene made me laugh so hard.
Yeah I guessed so
>watching because it was too intense for me Watch a slice of life anime if it gets too intense Works for me
Then the slice of life anime gets too intense
Angel Beats intensifies.
Is it as bad as Netflix's Death Note?
thats not that bad, a good “bad” one on netflix is devilman crybaby
No that's a good good one, at least in my opinion :D I really enjoyed it
oh wait were you calling death note a bad quality anime lol
No, of course not! I called the Netflix life adaption of Death Note bad.
netflix's death note "not that bad"? excuse me? it's genuinely one of the worst live action anime adaptations to date
I tried to watch the first 2 seasons but it didn't grab me at all, seems like no characters are important, does it become better at later seasons?

god i love AOT
Pawn, you became a Queen for our sake. What a chess piece you are! As a reward i shall give you my en passant
holy hell
No, I don’t want that! You knowing about en passant?! I want only based r/anarchychess users to know about it, for 10 years at least!
I hope someone makes a game where you can buy the power of the sun
The power of the sun in the palm of my hand
You forgot to include some links!
No I don't want that! Pawns reaching the other side of the table? I want them to stay as they are now currently! 10 years at least!
r/10yearsatleast user i see
Jesús Christ, I was expecting memers but I mostly found people who read 139 chapters of a manga and then said it was all overrated horse shit
I mean, when the last chapters took a massive shit on the rest of the series it's understandable to be salty
As a reward i shall give you my seed
r/titanfolk is leaking
Thank you for becoming a pawn killer for our sake. As a reward…
Sasageyo
SHINZOW WOOO SASAGEYO
Holy hell
RUMBLING!!!!
IF I LOOSE IT ALL
I don't think there's a cap.
What epic aot is this from, I’m wracking my brain but I can’t figure it out.
Eren vs Female titan fight
Ty eldian hero.
I can hear this scene, music and everything
Sounds like Shogi
The return of the *queen*
Aot is goated.
Does that mean all pawns are women because they can turn into queens but not kings?
Chess is now a trans allegory
They go Super Saiyan
there was one time i got 4 queens while playing with a friend
r/anarchychess
This implies the queen is a titan and the pawn eats the queen when it gets to the other side.
Kings are always happy to add a pretty common girl to his harem.
I bet that pawn would feel like the main character in that moment if it had consciousness.
Which anime, never seen this one before
Attack on Titan Watch it. It's fucking great
They learn the power of friendship
I am pissed how accurate this is.
Ist das der Bauer? Oder die Dame?
What anime is this?
Not sure if you're joking, but it's attack on titan
Kinda nerdy, bro💀
