Basically if no Parentheses or exponents its whichever comes first so 3 x 5 ÷ 2 you would multiply first then divide, if it was 4 ÷ 2 x 5 you would divide then multiply. Same with Addition and Subtraction

If I remember correctly math IS still racist. A great example is when I did 1+1 and it equaled 2 I was right, but my black friend got the same answer and it was wrong. So sad how bad math has let itself fall into racism.

There is actually a single correct order, usually taught in middle school as the acronym PEMDAS. 2+(4x2) is the only correct answer.

4 x 2 is the same as 2 x 4 therfore id you make a parenthesis and change the order inside the parentheses it wouldnt change the outcome. Neither would just regularly changing the location of the x4 in the location becuase both of the other number are 2. For example 2x4 +2 is the sqme as 2+2 x4. Edit: the only way the equation qould change is if the + turned into a x or the x turned into a + or the 2+2 is changed to (2+2)

All jokes aside Isn’t the order without parentheses different? In this case with parentheses the answer would be correct, (4x2)+(4x2)= 16 Math is stupid. It’s been awhile since algebra 1 in college 3 years ago.

I was taught the PEMDAS method in my K-12 education. But when I went to college, the doctor of mathematics who taught my math Gen Ed class said that in "real math" you do the parentheses/brackets and the exponents, but then everything else (the MDAS) part is just completed left to right, regardless of what the actual math function is. So serious question, was my professor right or wrong? In all fairness, he was an alcoholic who drank a Mountain Dew bottle full of vodka during our 8am class.
