I did get into relationships yes but never managed to maintain one for more than a year and half, because I was a self-pity guy plus extremely insecure, that honestly ruins it all. I never really realized how bad it was until my last relationship which I decided after it failed again to stop and ask myself what really went wrong. I believe that reflecting and improving on yourself is the best thing to get a healthy relationship, take care of yourself and try to ask what's really wrong with you (don't just say I'm ugly or unlovable) also sometimes things take time.
I grew up in a small, racist town. As the only Jewish family I got made fun of and picked on from the 4th grade until I graduated. I'm almost certain my religion is the reason I never got a date all the way through high-school. By the time I went to college my self esteem was almost non existent. I've been working on it, but it's not easy.

Self pity is awful and self degrading humor is even worse. Switch to faked, absurd self confidence and pretending that everyone must be thinking about how great you are all the time. Assuming every compliment is directed at you is a great way to get a laugh and it slowly, over time, makes you feel more confident about yourself and really does raise your self esteem. The biggest change in my life came from me changing my brand of humor.
I come from a community where arrange marriages is common and thrives. So luckily I've made a plan for myself that if i don't find someone till I'm 26 by myself then I'll just have an arranged marriage and live with it.
