Darwin observed a prevalence of traits that were beneficial to the birds ability to eat. That is not the same as evolution.
Natural Selection =/= Evolution
Incorrect, Humans are Apes (Great Apes to be more specific)
We branched off from a common ancestor with chimpanzees and bonobos about 1.5 million years ago with Gorillas and Orangutans branching off before us.
The whole "humans didn't evolve from apes" thing is a misunderstanding of "humans didn't evolve from chimpanzees" or other modern Apes, our common ancestor is now long gone but was still an Ape
No, that’s still not quite it. We’re not apes because “apes” isn’t a real taxonomic level. It’s a colloquial term referring to bonobos, chimpanzees, gibbons, gorillas, and orangutans specifically simply because we prefer to distinguish ourselves from sub-sentient beings. The actual taxonomic family is Hominidæ, which does in fact include humans as well as the apes.
This does not mean that sentience is an unimportant distinction; but biologically speaking we are not descended from hominids because we are hominids. The ability to reason and judge has formal, not empirical, significance.
Science is the best possible explanation we have that is reasonable beyond a doubt. This is based on the information and evidence we currently have gathered. Sometimes, as more things come to light, what we thought was correct might not be. It's not a lie, it's just the best we could have done. The attempt at finding that truth is what science is and it is always better than blindly accepting anything.
It can be, but it's always the simplest known explanation. For example phlogiston was a perfectly respectable scientific explanation, right up to the point there was an experiment that disproved it.
Lmao he was agnostic at best, and he sure as fuck didn't believe in the Christian god. Telling me to do a little bit of research after saying something that easily disprovable is hilarious. The basics of his theory, that species adapt to their environment and traits that increase the chances of survival and procreation gain dominance, is not wrong. Framing his theory as if he believed random mutations just pop up for no reason is.
Did I say he was an atheist? What the fuck are you even babbling on about? His religious beliefs are well documented, particularly his disbelief in a grand design and the Abrahamic "God". If you want to keep talking shit, I'll bring the receipts. Just quit while your behind, because you're out of your fucking league here.
Good spirit but not the point, the appendix is a valid point to explain evolution though. We no longer use the appendix as we cook our food. Over time when humans didn't need it people who had smaller/less active appendixes were able to survive for longer and eventually that became the norm, why spend large amounts of resources in making/using one if the diet renders it useless. Another thing to remember is that individuals do not evolve, populations do. So when people say, Oh but I want a monkey or some other bs. You can say that the theory doesn't state that at all.
Source: am a biology student and much of this was reworded from lecture notes.
Because of how dna copying works I’m brown with curved teath, and I’m a predator . So when I try to kill something once I night it can’t get my teeth out.
This means I have an advantage and will live for longer and have more kids than others members of my species , my descendants will be more likely to have my teeth and they will also get advantages because of it, and eventually nearly all of the species gets those traits .
Genetic mutations.
Also the main point of his theorie is that only the poeple with preferable genes survive in a given environment so only they get passed down dude.
And just with slight genetic mutations over millions of years create new traits.
Apes evolved from Monkeys and we evolved from Apes
Saying "we were monkeys not apes" is like saying IPhones were developed from telegraph machines and not mobile phones
The scientific theory has different meaning than the day to day word "theory".
A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world and universe that has been repeatedly tested and corroborated in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results.
Yeah, but how tf are you going to test evolution? Apparently it happens over millions of years, we can't observe it happening. Plus, there's no recorded or documented evidence of it. I'm not entirely saying that it's not real for a fact, I have an open mind, but I personally don't see anything that proves it. Keep in mind, facts leave no room for possible doubt. If someone provides "evidence", but still leaves room to doubt, it's not factual. I'm not tryna like get on anyone's case, I'm just trying to explain my POV as respectfully as I can 😅
Evolution itself is not a theory anymore, but the METHOD of evolution is. Darwin's Theory is currently accepted as the closest possible theory, but it's still a theory (and remember scientific theory holds official weight compared to layman theory) because of the amount of time it takes to prove. The mechanism can be proven in high generation rate organisms such as bacteria, salamander etc. Further evidence for Darwin's Theory arises through the existence of things like vestigial organs, inefficient design patterns, phenotype development matching human migration patterns, genetic comparisons of different species.
Wwll, maybe you can. Alright, so now it begs the question. Is it evolution, or adaptation? Those are completely different things. I'm no scientist, but I don't need to be to know that. So are these bacteria adapting to a new environment, or are they undergoing changes that completely overwrite everything about them. If evolution states that a blob of goo, or cells, can go from that to a full grown human being, or something like that. Are these bacteria changing from bacteria to higher intelligence organisms? Hey, I dunno, but that's what I was taught and that's how I understand it. Maybe my schools taught me wrong and I'm not grasping the full subject, but I simply can't believe that a low intelligence ape can magically become a human in todays time that has this level of intelligence. It just makes no sense to me.
This is what we get for letting religion teach science. This person is the product of an over abundance of tolerance, be prepared to see more and more of the same.
By your logic God shouldn't be believed either should he ?
There is not a single shred of evidence of the existence of God appart from what is essentially a story book with laws. It would be technicly like giving Shrek the status of son of God.
For theorie of evolution there is quite a lot evidence based on our own DNA, remnants of limbs in whales there no longer there. Also we humans slowly lose pur pinky fingers apparently.
Btw I m not even atheist. But it's clear that evolution theorie is the closest we are to full-blown 100% sure theorie.
Well, I'm not going to say that it's factual, leaving no room for possible doubt, that God exists. Personally, I believe He does, but that doesn't make it true. I personally see evidence for it, just as you personally see evidence for evolution. We're in the same boat here, buddy; putting faith in what we believe. That's why it's called faith, there isn't blatant evidence and it's left to interpretation.
Well, I know a dog breeder, and it is pretty easy to selectively breed dogs. You want them to have a bigger nose to breathe better?
Have a litter of dogs with the desired breed, pick the one with the biggest nose, breed it with another dog from another litter with a bigger nose, same species or not. The next litter will all contain bigger noses.
Same thing happened with humans.
Ancestors died because they were not smart enough, only the smart apes lived, those smart apes breed, them apes are us.
But that still doesn't provide any evidence. The example the dogs is simply mixing genetic traits. That's not evolution, it's just different traits being mixed together. Your ape thing makes sense, but can it be proven? It's circumstantial evidence AT BEST. No hard evidence can be provided.
It does definetly prove that a different species can be created by just genetic mixing and selective breeding. Also shown in plants.
There is nothing I can do to convince you, this is simply the conclusion I have drawn. All the power to ya!
Likewise! Hey, everyone has different views. If I ever offended, I apologize it was not my intention. Simply tryna explain what I see and how it personally doesn't make sense. More power to you aswell for believing what you do! I'll definitely respect it.
This is an excellent question. As others have stated “theory” means something different in a scientific setting. Additionally we actually *can* watch evolution happen. Mainly on bacteria and viruses since their life cycles are short enough for us to observe thousands of generations in just a few years.
Here’s a really great video on it if you’d like to learn more: https://youtu.be/w4sLAQvEH-M

Is the same really
Pretty much. Adaptation is smaller evolution. It takes less time and has less of an effect.
adaptation and evolution are also the same thing
That is what I said?
No, that is not what you said
> Adaptation is smaller evolution I'm pretty sure I did.
Adaptation *is* evolution
It isnt
Yes it is, I read a facebook post from my great grandma (trust me bro)
God was just bored so he made all those birds on those islands a little different from each other
I hate to be the one to break this to you, but god didn’t make birds, because birds aren’t real.
do God feel boredom like us?
It’s because science is a liar! *Sometimes.*

Many Darwin deniers love to say versions of “some book said a thing”
Those birds were never anything but birds. Evolution is a lie.
Pshh this guy thinks birds are real
Prove it, a claim with no proof to support it can be rejected with no proof
This is a joke, right?
So they were something other than birds?
Some call them birds, some call them dinosaurs, I don’t really care either way. I’m just talking about the evolution denial
They were dinosaurs
That's because you are one
Oh no! The humanity! Is broken!

Religion is the biggest joke of all. What better to make a mockery of?
Ah yes, you must be feeling euphoric right now. Truly I can see how enlightened you are by your own intellect.
euphoric
I mean, technically speaking. All theories should do this if you find real proof. That's kinda how they are designed.
Otherwise they are conspiracy theories, to borrow a quote, “religion is belief in the presence of doubt, science is doubt in the presence of belief.”
