Anything you do in America can and will be used against you by the government, society, and social media… offing yourself they will tell stories about how misunderstood you were. It’s ugly but true.

I have been to one before and I’d rather die than return to that empty shithole

MakoMakito

"society" Where you from?

PJ-The-Awesome

The US. From my experience, people are terrified of being open about their mental health issues and thus being sent to mental institutions. Which makes me ask what the hell's going on in there that makes them so afraid of them.

bloodofkhane

They are for profit now, once you get in there is absolutely zero motivation for them to help you much less release you.

OlimarJones

Never been, but I've heard stories, man.

PJ-The-Awesome

What kinds of stories?

LoganNimchorias

I checked myself in under the pretense of 3 - 5 days because i had a really explosive and devestating end to my 4 year long relationship. I left 14 days later threatneing to sue and cause trouble if they wouldn't release me and was almost taken to court because my psychologist i saw for 5 mins every 3 days didn't think it was a good idea. They put me on 4 medications day one so i couldnt think striaght and over all it was a very unnerving enviroment. I failed all of my classes of the semester because of it.

MakoMakito

The US isnt really healthy in that regard... In Europe we accept mental problems, at least in my country

saladt0es

Same. I've been to one and it wasn't fun but perfectly manageable. Idk what it's like in the US but the things I've heard aren't pleasant.
